Guestbook comments from the owner
Thank you so much for opening your lovely cabin to us. It was a beautiful home away from home, and we had a wonderful time. The cabin exceeded all my expectations; the kitchen was a joy to cook in, the beds were very comfortable, the cabin was very clean and smelled fresh, and the backyard/ fire pit was awesome. We traveled to Cades Cove, Cherokee, Gatlinburg, Newfound Gap, and through the Blue Ridge. We had campfires a couple of nights, played family board games, and had time to just sit around and enjoy the mountain from the porch. Our vacation was all we could have hoped for, and we look forward to staying at Ryan’s Roost again!

GREAT TIME

  • 4 of 5
We had a great time in the cabin and the surrounding area. We went to Chimney Rock and took the parkway to Ashland and it was a beautiful drive. Joey's Pancake House was our favorite restaurant in Maggie Valley. Too bad it isn't open for dinner. Bocelli's in Waynesville was really nice and the pizza was excellent. We missed not having Wi Fi but the long distance phone was nice. Thanks, Barbara for the great communication. William & Irma

Owner's Response: The cabin is so centrally located, one can visit many different places during their stay, or just hang out on the rockers on the front porch. We too would love to have w ifi, but due to the abundance of trees in the direction the satellite needs to pick up a signal, we have been unable to find any satellite company able to pick up a decent signal-so until we figure something else out, we cannot offer wi fi. But we do have enhanced cell phone signals, so if one has a smartphone they can use still use the internet on their phones. Glad you enjoyed yourselves.

CLEAN, QUIET, MOUNTAIN GETAWAY.

  • 4 of 5
Let me start with the fact that I am an owner of two vacation rental properties. With this in mind, this property met all the descriptions advertised. It is a very charming home with a great garage. It was very relaxing to know that we could come home to a nice area to store our motorcycles out of any weather. There was an abundance of light not only in the garage but throughout the cabin. The cabin had all that we needed for our stay and would recommend to our friends and relatives to stay at. The home was well maintained with the exception that the exterior doors were hard to open and shut. This is an easy fix and I am sure the owners will address before their next renter. I only talked to the owner twice, the first was because I forgot to bring the address, and the second was due to the downstairs fireplace didn't light. The owner addressed both issues immediately. It was inconvenient not to have internet access or cell phone service. The owner does however provide a land line phone with free long distance. This property has great access to the Blue Ridge Parkway and the town area of Maggie Valley. When you are at the cabin you feel as though you are in the middle of nowhere. "NICE"

Owner's Response: The cabin definitely gives the feeling of getting away from it all. There is a cell phone booster so one should get cell service in the main living area. Occasionally if the weather is poor or there has been a storm the service can get temporarily knocked out. That is life in the mountains. I just spent the month of September there and used my smartphone all the time. I do apologize if service was out the weekend you were there. But as you said sometimes it is good to be "disconnected" for a short time Come back soon. Barbara and Michael ryan

EXCEEDED ALL EXPECTATIONS!!

  • 5 of 5
WOW! After making the 3/4 mile climb up the mountain on the gravel road towing my motorcycle on a trailer we were in awe at the beauty of the cabin and the surrounding area. Once we got inside the beauty and cleanliness of the cabin exceeded the view in the pictures. We had two people staying but would be perfect for two couples or four adults. It was so cozy and comfortable. The gas fireplaces were perfect for both heat and ambiance. The beds and the furniture were super comfortable. We really enjoyed the outside patio deck including the side deck undercover for when it was raining one day. Great rocking chairs and serenity out on the patio. The kitchen was modern with all of the amenities you would need. We only ate out one nights and were there for six! We just loved being at the cabin. We have shared our experience with others and have two other couples that are looking to book this cabin next summer. The only thing I wished we had was a good Wi-Fi connection for staying "connected", although it was nice sometimes too not to have it. Thank you so much Barbara for sharing your NC home with us and your overall hospitality.

IT WAS PERFECT!

  • 5 of 5
FROM THE TIME WE DROVE UP TO THE CABIN, WE WERE IMPRESSED. IT IS BEAUTIFUL ON THE OUTSIDE AND INSIDE AS WELL. THE CABIN IS IN A VERY PRIVATE LOCATION BUT CLOSE TO MANY CITIES. WE VISITED WAYNESVILLE, CHEROKEE, DILLSBORO, AND SYLVA. WE WERE GOING TO PIGEON FORGE BUT MY DOG GOT SICK BACK HOME AND WE HAD TO LEAVE EARLY. THE OWNERS WERE VERY SYMPATHETIC AND UNDERSTANDING. THEY SENT ME A VERY SWEET E-MAIL. BOTTOM LINE, THE TIME SPENT IN MAGGIE VALLEY COULDN'T HAVE BEEN MORE WONDERFUL. THE CABIN AND OWNERS WERE FANTASTIC!

ps: My dog is doing great now!

Owner's Response: The cabin is very centrally located, ziplining and rafting on either the Nantahala or Pigeon are 1 hour away, and the Biltmore House in Asheville is 40 minutes. Plus Harrah's Casino is only about 20 minutes away. We just love the location. Glad to hear your dog is doing well again-that is great news. Come back soon. Barbara and Michael Ryan

GREAT AVT TRIP...!!!

  • 5 of 5
Where do I start... This was our first ATV vacation & it was great...!!! Boys (15yrs&17yrs) saw a mountain lion run across a trail one day. Me & husb were riding together one day & we saw a mama bear & her 2 cubs...!!! Yea, we stopped dead in our tracks until they were gone & then we took off...!!! Found our way to the falls below & had picnic lunch...Hummingbirds were very active & fun to watch on side porch... Nice, clean, safe cabin & definitely recommend it... Very close to Maggie Valley/Cherokee, but far enough away for privacy...Just wish we could have stayed longer... Great place to get away...!!!!!!!!!!

Owner's Response: One of the reasons we built this cabin was because of all the ATV trails around that you could just ride right out of the garage. Love to watch the hummingbirds flit around and feed out of the feeders.. So glad you had fun. Come back soon. Barbara and Michael Ryan

RESTFUL VISIT

  • 5 of 5
Beautiful, clean house. Up on the side of a mountain with beautiful view. Only a short trip to Maggie Valley. It was a rainy trip, but the wrap porch made it possible to enjoy the outside. I really enjoyed the quiet and beauty during my stay. Lots of things to read around the house, games in the closet, satellite TV, DVD player, and game cube. A vacation home that anyone could enjoy!

Owner's Response: Yes, the covered porch lets you relax outside no matter what the weather. I wish the weather had been better for you, but it is beautiful at the cabin in any kind of weather. Glad you got to relax, come back soon. Barbara and Michael
