RECOLETA HOME EVEN BETTER IN PERSON THAN IN THE PHOTOS

Recoleta Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Apartment, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

Maybe you've searched a lot, maybe this is your first listing. However, I know that everyone runs into the fisheye lens at some point. You know those apartments that are listed with fantastic (wide angle) photos showing a ton of space and light and as soon as you arrive you realize that it is actually half the size and only has one window? And, everything is made of plastic. Well, this apartment will be a refreshing surprise for you. It's one of few places that is impossible to photograph to fully express its true charm and size. Once you step through the front door you will fall in love. We did.

The total area of the apartment is 150m. The master bedroom and suite are located on the first floor and the guest room and bathroom are located on the second floor of the apartment. The ceilings are 5m high with exposed brick throughout the apartment. There are hardwood floors throughout the apartment, except for the entrance foyer which is done in a traditional red tile. The entrance foyer serves as a greenhouse for the apartment and is filled with plants and opens out to the small garden, the kitchen and the living area.

The living area is about 80m and includes a 51-inch flat-screen television, hi-speed wireless internet, basic cable, Sony Playstation and surround sound. There are three balconies in the living area that open out onto Laprida. The center balcony has a marble breakfast table and chairs. The other two balconies have flower beds and sun chairs. There is air conditioning throughout the apartment, space heaters and a working fireplace that heats the entire first floor. The kitchen is an open plan and fully equipped. There is a 6m long, 100-year-old wood table that runs the length of the dining and kitchen area. The table came in by crane and was previously used in a garment factory.

The master bedroom suite is accessible from the kitchen and the small garden. There are two sets of doors that allow the actual bedroom and bathroom to be private from the rest of the house. There is a walk-in closet. The ceilings here are 5m and the walls are exposed brick which have been painted. The bed is queen-sized, extra long, and temperpedic. The guest bedroom is only accessible from the staircase in the entrance foyer. It is completely private and has it's own air conditioning system. There are two twin beds which can be combined to make a single queen. The linen closet is stocked with over-sized Egyptian cotton towels and 1000 thread count sheets.

We have no special rental requirements concerning children. We would like to limit pets to small or medium-sized dogs. We are negotiable on this but need to be contacted first. We would prefer long-term rentals. We would like to avoid 'party rentals.' It's a perfect apartment for a family or for a business executive. The Finnish Ambassador to Argentina stays here frequently because he prefers to be closer to his office than his home.

We have maid service Monday-Friday. The apartment is located on a quiet street and has many amenities near, including a gym, three supermarkets, Abasto Mall, restaurants, delivery and plenty of taxis. We also have two cruiser bicycles with locks for use within the city. One is a women's bicycle and one is a man's.

This is a very special place. We bought it because we fell in love with it when we saw it. It is extremely comfortable and close to everything in the city. It's an excellent base for all your adventures and a wonderful place to come home to after partying all night or just exhausted after exploring Buenos Aires. There's plenty of room here for tango, for love, for fun, for everything you discover in Argentina. It's a very traditional home which has been filled with modern comforts and if your goal when on vacation is not to live like a tourist, then you've found the right apartment. Here you can live like a porteño.

About The Owner

I live in Helsinki, Finland, where the summers are stunning and the winters are beautiful but cold and dark. So I escape to Buenos Aires every winter. This apartment is my home away from home. When I am in Finland, traveling or not coming for the winter, my place is available for rent.

The Owner purchased this apartment in 2008

Why The Owner chose Recoleta

Buenos Aires is a city to fall in love with. It is a perfect hybrid of New York and Paris. It has the hustle and bustle and amenities of city life and the beautiful architecture, gardens and ambience of France. I saw thirty different apartments in Buenos Aires before I came to Laprida. Some were impressive and some were lackluster, but none had the personality that was immediately apparent at Laprida. This place has soul and I was sold. In addition, the location in Recoleta/Barrio Norte is perfect. It's a growing part of the neighborhood yet it remains quiet and peaceful and close to everything.

What makes this apartment unique

Well, living like a porteño is one benefit. This isn't a hotel and it's not a tourist apartment full of plastic furniture and posters ordered online. It's a home, with a kitchen you will actually use during your stay.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Just to let you know we are getting settled in to the apartment and of course, we have completely fallen in love with it. Cristina has been so helpful and really dotes on us, as does Daniela and from both we are getting much help with our Spanish. We are so in awe of how much love and attention you have put into every detail of this home. I am so grateful to have found you and this place.

After my children leave, I had been planning on moving to a smaller and less expensive apartment, just a one bedroom. The thing is I don't how I can bear to leave this place. Thanks again for the wonderful attention and care you and cristina put into running the apartment.

All my best,

Lisa

Charming and Spacious

  • 4 of 5
Charming high-ceiling spacious apartment. Manager Camilo went beyond the call of duty to make sure we were comfortable and had what we need. We used the kitchen more than most and found it basic but usable. Master bedroom and bathroom nice. The second bedroom has no direct windows and little air, but there is a fan and a/c. Second bathroom basic, but again live-able. Lots of nice old French doors, which are drafty, so it may be cold in winter. We liked the neighborhood, and the bedrooms are away from street noise. Can walk to tango shows one direction, and to subte the other. We asked to borrow cell phone and it was delivered. And Camilo makes the stay wonderful!

Huge apartment, great kitchen, and layout gives you lots of space

  • 5 of 5
We've stayed in a number of different rental apartments over the years when visiting BA and this is by far the largest and most spread out, which is great.

We walked in and thought wow! We loved the unique design. It is very open, and bright - tall wide windows let in plenty of sun which you can't really tell from the photos. It has the feel of a converted factory with exposed brick and high high ceilings. It is up one flight of stairs (in the building there is another apartment under it, and a third apartment above, on one side) . The living room overlooks the street and the two bedrooms (one is up a small internal flight of stairs, and another is beyond the kitchen) are separate from each other and have their own full bathrooms. The couch is really long, flat and wide so I guess you could sleep two people head to toe, maybe kids. There are lots of extra linens in the closet. Also lots of extra dishes etc. in the well equipped kitchen. Wifi worked fine.

Location is near Abasto shopping mall which has every brand of clothes etc. and a food court and also houses the Children's Museum. There is a chinese mini market on the block. A supermarket is a few blocks away. There are some good tango show places close by. The streets are fine as far as safety but the area is not especially beautiful to walk around. It is a good base to explore the city, not far to go up to Palermo, or down to the center of the city. It easy enough to catch a cab or walk to subway.

We had a comfortable stay, and I would definitely recommend this apartment!

Jaw-dropping Elegance in a Fantastic Location

  • 5 of 5
My boyfriend and I just returned home after spending a month in this gorgeous apartment, and I could not be more pleased with our experience. The pictures you see here are just the beginning; the ceilings are sky-high, the rooms are huge and elegantly appointed, and the kitchen has everything you could possibly want for preparing and enjoying meals (including the amazing table you see in the pictures).

At night, the indirect lighting only adds to the intimacy and sophistication of the living area. It was such a pleasure, in the evenings, to lounge around in the space, enjoying a glass of wine as we made dinner and marveling at the beauty around us.

In terms of location, the apartment is perfect for sightseeing; it is located within walking distance or a short cab ride to any area you that might interest you--Recoleta cemetery, Puerto Madero, San Telmo, Palermo Viejo, La Boca, Plaza de Mayo, Belgrano, Calle Florida, etc. We absolutely saw it all in terms of museums, shows, and restaurants, and the location played a key role in our ability to do this.

Furthermore, Bianca was an absolute pleasure to work with, as was Cristina and the apartment's maid, Rosie. They were completely accommodating, warm, and friendly.

This apartment made our experience absolutely unforgettable, and we will certainly return to it the next time we visit Buenos Aires!

Everything and more

  • 5 of 5
We spent a magical month in this lovely home. Although the photos of the apartment are wonderful, not until you arrive will you fully appreciate its true elegance. We've been home 3 days and are ready to go back! Public transportation is easily accessible from this location, but we rarely used it. A 30 minute walk in any direction will take you to almost every site you would want to visit. And what you discover along the route just adds to your overall experience of this beautiful city. But you also don't have to walk anywhere because the surrounding neighborhood has everything you need. Small markets, vegetable and fruit stands, wine, fresh pasta, bakeries, cafes and supermarkets and oh yes, gelato. Bianca made the whole process of renting very easy for us and was a good source of information. Her local support staff are there anytime you need them and do an exceptional job of keeping everything perfect.
The combination of this unique apartment and Buenos Aires, what a wonderful place to spend our 40th wedding anniversary! Thank you Bianca and Antero.

As beautiful as it looks

  • 5 of 5
My friend and I shared this lovely spacious apartment for a month on Tango trip . I chose it as it was equidistant to some of the Tango places we were going to, the fact it had a "well equipped kitchen " as I am a veggie and Argentina is very meat based and long times in cities makes eating out all the time more expensive and it looked a nice space to relax between busy classes and milongas .
Our time there was made special by all the care and attention put in by the owners and those at hand if needed on site .
It is kept beautifully clean and has the feel of a private home rather than the impersonal air of a hotel .
Buenos Aires is a great city but vast . My friend happily used one the bikes to get about . I preferred to walk the few blocks to catch the plentiful buses or subway so access to different districts was simple .
Without hesitation I would return and certainly recommend it to friends and family .
So often reality does not quite match what advertising and glossy photos promise but this is certainly not the case with Biancas gorgeous space . What you get is more than what you see .
