Casa de Vista offers spacious living with a 360-degree view of New Mexico. It’s so quiet, you can only hear crickets and coyotes. Complete with a gourmet kitchen, wet bar, and outdoor grilling area with TV.
Wake up to an unobstructed 20-mile view of the mountains. From the coffee bar, pour yourself a strong cup of coffee, nibble on fresh fruit, and curl up in the sitting area with a book without leaving the master bedroom. My home includes a stationary recumbent bike and exercise equipment. This is your secluded, luxury home away from home on 14+ acres.
If you hike, bike, rock climb, ski, snow shoe, golf, fly fish, hunt, or soar...this property provides you easy access to some of the best in the country. You can hike/bike directly off the property for miles on private land—where you’ll find ancient fossils, petroglyphs, and pottery shards from previous visitors along a creek. Later that evening, you can star gaze in the dark skies from your very private patio off the bedroom, or watch one of the 400+ movies available in a home theater with popcorn next to the fireplace on a snowy day. Casa de Vista is a perfect romantic get-away, or a place to gather with family and friends.
After a few days, you might want to venture off the property…maybe. The club house to the nationally-rated Paako Ridge golf course is less than a 8-minute drive. Many say this 27-hole mountain course, designed by an award-winning architect, is the best in New Mexico. You can take flight in a sailplane out of Moriarty, staying up for hours in warm thermals rising off the desert in a high-performance glider.
Hike to the top of Sandia Crest, then drive back into history through the mining towns of Golden, Madrid, and Cerrillos, on your way to Santa Fe, only 45 minutes from the finest art, crafts, theater, music, museums and restaurants offered in the Southwest. Ride a hot air balloon over Albuquerque the next day.
Bandolier National Monument, site of ancestral pueblo and cliff dwellings, the Pecos Wilderness, and the famous Chaco Canyon are all day trips that usually start with a breakfast burrito. Welcome to New Mexico!
It's hard for me to believe, but I've done all the activities I've described above from my beautiful home when I'm not at work--and, now you can too. Casa de Vista is the perfect vacation home to rest, recreate, and explore the Land of Enchantment with family and friends. Only a 30-minute drive from the Albuquerque airport and to city amenities.
Hope to see you soon! Ted

I'm a physicist in the defense industry. I want to share with you the beauty of New Mexico while staying in a contemporary casa that I designed and built. This is my home and you are my special guests.
Ted Kreifels purchased this house in 2007
Scenic property only 45 minutes to Santa Fe and 30 minutes to central Albuquerque.
Hike off the property along a creek on private land. Drive along the scenic Turquoise Trail to Santa Fe for a day out shopping and site seeing. 10 minutes from Paa-ko Ridge Golf Club.
This was our first experience renting a home for a vacation... We have 2 kids that have special needs, allergies and sensitivities. It is a tricky proposition to travel to unknown places! Ted was so patient while disclosing information about his home - everything from where his water comes from to the fabric content of his sheets, cleaning products used, available sources for food that would accommodate our needs...
Of course we were thrilled at the beautiful photos but what they don't show is the level of attention given to the home's upkeep. It is clean and so easy to be in! The views are simply spectacular... The spaces are open, free of clutter and so peaceful inside and out it is tough to get motivated to leave! The layout of the home is great - 2 bedrooms for the kids on one side of the home with corresponding bathrooms, the master bedroom on the other. Ted is funny and helpful and was available during our stay via phone if we needed something. Every accommodation for comfort has been accounted for. As you might have noticed from other reviews, there is an elderly dog named Seltzer that lives there. He is super cool - always sweet and good! We were concerned about allergy issues for our kids, but had absolutely none - he stays outside and was a wonderful part of our experience.
The drive into town (Sandia Crest, Albuquerque and Santa Fe were easy and scenic. At the end of a long day it was an amazing treat to head back to this peaceful and beautifully maintained getaway. We are grateful for the chance to have stayed here and will look forward to doing it again!!!! Look no further - you have just found paradise in New Mexico!
This house surpassed all of our expectations. It was gorgeous, very clean, comfortable, breathtaking, and very hospitable. Our host Ted, though we never met, did everything to make our stay very comfortable. The house is equipped with just about everything your heart could desire. It is the perfect place to get away from the insanity of metropolitan life. It is so quite and peaceful you can hear yourself think. The panoramic view is phenomenal. The location was perfect. We were able to drive to many great hikes, scenic towns, and great restaurants. Sandia is a very friendly little locale. We will definitely return. The house, Ted, and New Mexico all left a wonderful lasting impression on us.
Two couples stayed at Ted's home for eight days. The house is extremely spacious and luxurious with all the amenities one would need. Very quiet and relaxing with beautiful views. We are not particularly dog lovers but you cannot not love Seltzer. He asks nothing of his guests but is extremely grateful for being fed and petted. Easy access to Albuquerque and Santa Fe.
I can not imagine a better place to spend a week than at Ted's beautiful home! He has thought of everything you would ever need (and then some)! He has created the perfect blend of high end finishes while still making it feel comfortable and "homey"! Sunrise/sunset and the views are also amazing!
As a dog lover - Seltzer the Wonder Dog made it even more amazing (and if you don't love dogs - don't worry - you will hardly notice he is there).
To sum it up... you won't be disappointed!!
There were five adults, 3 of us from South Carolina, We met up with my sister-law and her husband from Las Vegas for a reunion. Everything that has been said before is right on the mark. What has not been said is how Ted is more than willing to make you as happy as he can. Our son cannot live without his WWE PPV'S and Ted even order it for us so he would not miss it. We have stayed at many VRBO's before and this one is by far the best. It is so neat and clean. It is everything plus more than described. If your not happy here you may as well stay home. We were really sad to go when our time had run out. We hope to be back next year. Be one of the lucky ones that get to stay here.
Another terrific stay at the house of our friend, Dr. T. (How else do you think of someone who graciously turns over his well-appointed house to you?) We use Dr. T's house as our base for excursions to places such as Old Town ABQ, Sandia Crest and Santa Fe.
Looking for an open-plan house designed for entertaining? Check. (The kitchen at Dr. T's house is large enough for everyone to participate. You can dine indoors or on the large covered patio.) Like big mountain views? Check. Want a house with a nice golf course nearby? Check. Want access to hiking at your doorstep? Check. (There are also many other hiking trails within a short drive.) Need a high-altitude place to train for that next 10-K, half marathon or bike race? Check. (Dr. T has a road bike and a mountain bike. Use one of his, bring your own or arrange a term rental from one of the bike shops in ABQ. There is some serious bike riding done in NM.)
You can do strength training at the nearby Vista Grande Community Center. They also offer Zumba and yoga classes.
Dr. T's house is also good for folks looking for a quiet place to relax. The nearest neighboring house is hundreds of yards away. In case you get tired of outdoor activities (we never do), Dr. T has hundreds of movies.
Thank you Dr. T!
