View the pacific from the top row at Ho'olei, the best place to stay in Wailea. Our beautifully appointed Plumeria town home (87-3) is in a gated community across the street from the world famous Grand Wailea Hotel and Spa. Enjoy all the advantages of staying in your own home while still taking advantage of all the amenities of the Grand Wailea Resort and Spa. You have free use of all the great pools at the Grand Wailea Resort. Many of the other units offered do not have Hotel privileges. Our unit resides at the top of the development which provides unparalleled views of the Pacific from the Great Room, lanai, master bedroom and master lanai. No detail is spared, from MBR coffee service to iPod docks in every bedroom. Utilize the main lanai's Wolf BBQ for a quiet meal with family and friends or throw a party in the gourmet kitchen. You will enjoy the inside/outside living that Maui is famous for.
Fantastic Villa, fantastic views, wonderful finishes. Very close to beach and Grand Wailea amenities. Very short uphill walk from pools/beach give you the best sunset views in the complex. Our six-year old twins had no problem on the walk.
This place was great. My wife and I took our 6 and 3 year old daughters as well as my parents for a 10 day stay in July. The unit was incredibly beautiful, comfortable, centrally located and had wonderful views. Access to the Grand Wailea facilities was key, especially with kids. I hope to return to this same unit in the future and would definitely recommend it to to anyone considering Maui as a vacation destination.
We reviewed numerous resorts in Hawai'i and ended up staying here for a week in April (2011). I am fortunate enough to typically stay in Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton hotels when I travel and I can comfortably say that the quality of decor and service is on par or above these hotels.
We traveled with 3 small children and having access to the pools at the Grand WIlea but also being able to escape the giant complex to the quiet gated community was perfect. The villas have their own concierge (not that you cannot also use the hotel's). The staff were exceptionally helpful and shuttled us around on the golf cart whenever needed. I was concerned that this may be an inconvenience but they were always there within about 2 mins of calling.
We debated getting a villa not associated with the hotel to save money but if you can afford it, I would highly recommend spending the money as you get all the support staff and any child from 2-18 will love the pools at the hotel which you cannot otherwise access even for a fee.
I would add that the pool and gym for the villa residents are also very high quality.
We visited the Four Seasons and I am so glad we stayed where we did. The rooms at the Four Seasons are nice but this villa is of an even higher standard, you have far more space and the pools are incomparable.
Trips the concierge recommended that we did and loved- helicopter tour (Sunshine helicopters) and submarine tour of reef (Atlantis) were great. We did a luau at the old lahina luau (sp?). Great setting but food pretty poor and would do Grand Wailea next time. get Sunday brunch at the hotel too.
If you want a high end vacation in real comfort, this is the place to stay in Maui. No, it's not cheap but great value.
This home exceeded our high expectations. Views are fantastic. The back row is the place to stay if you want island views at ho'olei. Prior to arriving I thought the entire back row had great views. Not so as the buildings on the north side of the row are lower elevation which cuts down a bit on the views, and the buildings on the south side have their southernly views obstructed by some trees adjacent to the golf course. The middle buildings seem best, the 75 and 87 buildings in particular. We can see northern Maui, Lani, Kahoolave, and even Molokini but that small island is partially covered by trees.
The owner furnished the place very nicely. We looked at some other units for the fun of it and they were much more austere. Kitchen is well equipped. Balconies have good furniture as well. Garage was very large and fit our SUV just fine.
Perhaps the pool was the only slight disappointment, as we stayed at the Grand Wailea previously and thought it would be equally spectacular. The pool is probably just fine for young to grade schoolers. My 13 and 15 year-olds just thought it was OK as it is smaller (by Grand Wailea standards) and the little critters got in their way. They only stayed in the water about 5-10 minutes the two times we went to the pool.
Lastly, the workout room was great. All new, well kept equipment with excellent mix of free weights, machines, ellipticals, core training equipment etc.
