Wonderfully relaxing trip

  • 5 of 5
The Trailview cabin is very private and secluded. I felt like I was in a tree house when I woke in the mornings. We had a great time hiking, kayaking, visiting Galax and just generally taking it easy. Loved the mist on the mountain side in the mornings, too. I have to mention how well-equipped the kitchen is - you really do not need to bring any kitchen items as they are all provided. It is a great value.

Owner's Response: We both got a chuckle about your "tree house" observation. Among the pines above the New River, it is easy to feel as if you are in a tree house!
My husband, our family's cook, wants to make sure our guests have a well equipped kitchen. We hope you found our little herb garden planted along the driveway wall.

Wonderful Get-Away

  • 5 of 5
Our family of four (plus the dog) had a wonderful stay at Trialview. The cabin was very clean and comfortable, and everything was in perfect working order. We enjoyed riding our bikes and walking the dog on the New River Trail, and had fun family-time in the evenings playing games or watching movies. The kitchen was well stocked, so cooking was easy for us. Even the weather cooperated, with highs in the '70s every day (unheard of for August in Virginia). Thanks for a wonderful vacation.

Peacefully remote setting to enjoy nature.

  • 5 of 5
The New River Trail out the front door with its miles of exercise opportunities , the soothing sound of rapids as you relax on the breezy shaded front porch , the public boat launch nearby, Claytor Lake State Park trails to hike as well as many cultural options for the explorer looking for museums or remnants of bygone eras, maps of area handy, books puzzles & games, a clean well kept rustic log cabin for family bonding, the back deck with grill & outdoor dining, the frequent appearance of deer to add to the peaceful setting, all this & more is why our time there was calm & special.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your kind essay about our little corner of the Virginia Highlands. Glad you met Rosie the Deer and her pals. We are pleased that you and your family had a special time together before before your daughters take off for college.

Awesome Long weekend

  • 5 of 5
Our family had a wonderful long weekend at the Trailview Cabin. The cabin was perfect and clean with everything we needed. We loved being able to walk across the street and be on the beautiful 50+ mile bike path along the New River. We were able to Kayak at the New River State Park and did the Cascade Falls hike about an hour away. I hope that we will be able to go back and visit the area again soon. Thank you so much.

Pleasantly surprised!

  • 5 of 5
Well, I always get nervous when I first make these kinds of rental agreements, what If I show up and it is soo much smaller than the pics or not clean.. This cottage is so sweet! the living room is large with a VERY comfy sofa and a 2nd sofa that is a recliner also!! There is also a recliner which I never used. The kitchen is large enough for 2 people to cook and clean, There were plenty of pots, pans, Dishes silverware etc. I slept in the smaller bedroom and was very comfortable. My Travel companion used the other room and while they will write their own review, they said they were comfortable as well! The cottage was sooo clean! The floor squeaked under my feet! I felt completely fine walking barefoot in the house, and this is something I am a little weird about. The trail is right across the driveway (you have to go down a little hill) and it is such a beautiful trail, we went for walks both days and loved it! Barbara and her husband were very reachable and answered our questions or any concerns very quickly and always with positive results. The WIFI here is metered and We are online gamers. We had no idea that this used so much data, so we were not able to play the games but the WIFI connection was excellent and we didnt miss doing the other things at all. The area is quite and so peaceful . We had deer in the back and front wandering through the woods, was such a wonderful weekend! Barbara, if we are able, we will definitely be back!

Owner's Response: Because of the rural location of The Trailview, we are unable to get unlimited internet service such as Comcast or VIOS. Internet access is provided via a Verizon wireless router. The service, a metered 4G Internet connection, charges by the amount of data used. Consequently, we request that our guests do not use high data applications such as streaming of movies or music, uploading videos or large picture files, or gaming.

We do provide DIRECTV with over 205 digital channels with an HD-DVR receiver and a 32” digital television.
