This is a beautiful old Sunday House originally built in 1914 & lovingly renovated to someday be our retirement home. Since we can't retire yet we'd like to offer it to you as your home away from home in New Braunfels. House is in downtown area a couple of blocks from tubing, downtown shops & restaurants, Landa Park, Landa Golf Course, Hinman Park, Schlitterbahn (voted the best waterpark in the USA!), Prince Solms Park & the Tube Chute, the Comal River (shortest in the world) & plenty of other attractions. One of our favorite amenities is the classic front porch where you can sit for hours waving at the friendly people walking, running, tubing & biking through this quaint old neighborhood. The kitchen has been fully updated with granite counter tops & modern appliances. We have tubes available if you want to go it alone, it's easy - ask for info!

Walking distance to the Comal River. Rent your tube & shuttle service at Texas Tubes or Landa Falls (2 & 5 blocks away, but you don't have to walk - just flag the shuttles down from the front yard!) or launch one of our tubes at Hinman Park. Pack a picnic lunch & walk to Landa Park. Walk to Schlitterbahn water park or downtown restaurants. Water ski at Canyon Lake, explore the Natural Bridge Caverns, check the City of New Braunfels web site for free concerts & activities.

Notes: Yes, the house has 2 front doors but this is NOT a duplex. The traditional 'Sunday Home' built by the German immigrants had two front doors. These homes were built by farm families that just came to town for the weekends to go to church & do their shopping. They'd rent a room to someone who had a job in town who'd maintain the place during the week. We've kept this feature intact for historical purposes. We have 6 tubes available & guidance for going it alone if you'd rather spare the expense of renting from an outfitter. There are a lot of excellent restaurants, antique shops, bars & wine bars, etc available in walking distance downtown (2 - 7 blocks). Please call or e-mail if you have questions - this is a great location near downtown with lots of local amenities available! We love New Braunfels & are happy to share our experience with newcomers. We also enjoy running, geocaching & shopping at the outlet malls in San Marcos while we're in New Braunfels.

A little piece of Heaven

Travelled with family who were going to watch the Grand Prix in Austin but we [my husband and I] decided to find somewhere to stay in New Braunfels for the weekend.

I'm happy to say that we were thoroughly delighted with our home away from home. We wanted for nothing, every amenity was provided, including really comfy beds, and we were within walking distance of the town centre with it's pretty shops and the park.

We were provided with all the information we needed in a folder, with regard to places to eat, visit, etc., which we found very useful.

The weather was really good during our visit and we had the added bonus of seeing the Christmas lights switched on in the square, plus I managed to stock up on my quilting fabrics from Oak Leaf Quilts.

Thank you Mike and Diane for letting us use your beautiful home and I hope that you will soon be in a position to retire to it. So get your bookings in now, before it is off the market. :-)

This is the perfect vacation get away! Close to everything but nestled in a quiet neighborhood! Owners keep house clean and well maintained. It has everything you would need just as if you were at your own house! Such a relaxing place! We will definetely be returning!

We had a wonderful stay at this property. We were really surprised to see how close we actually were to the downtown tube chute--an easy walk down the street and over the bridge. The beds were really comfortable and it so convenient to be able wash and dry your bathing suit and towels right on the property. The kitchen was amazingly stocked with appliances and dishes that allowed us to cook in with style.

This is how we'll be doing all of our future New Bruanfels trips.
