This is our home year-round, but we often feel like we're on vacation. We renovated our home in 2005. We wanted it to feel like a beach home. With polished hard wood floors, white painted bead board and slip covered furniture, it has beach-cottage ambiance. Better Homes & Gardens liked it, too. They published a seven page spread about our house titled "Our Happiest Home" in their March, 2008 issue
The house is at the end of a cul-de-sac. Children ride their bikes safely around the circle all summer long. We have an outdoor shower that, again, makes us feel like we are living by the ocean. Our very private back yard and bluestone patio is the perfect place for impromptu barbeques with family, friends and neighbors.
Just a quick ten-minute walk down the street and you will be in the heart of downtown New Canaan, a lovely and quaint village. Elm Street is the one-way street where there are many fun and unique places to visit. Wonderful restaurants, ice cream parlors, movie theater, upscale shopping and more.
Waveny Park, a 300 acre town-owned park which boasts a public pool, castle with Wednesday night family concerts, live theater under a tent, large open grass areas and a long walking trail, is less than 2 miles from our home. The Philip Johnson Glass House is less than a mile from our house.
And New York City is just a 50 minute train ride away, with the train station being at the end of our street.
New Canaan is a magical spot to be in the summer. It would make a wonderful vacation rental.
