This clean and freshly painted studio apartment both inside and out is on the first floor of a newer (1998) two-story home with private entrance and lanai. New appliances.

Located on one tropical acre of fruit trees and pasture. You will be less than 10 minutes by car from Kealakekua Bay for excellent snorkeling, kayaking, and scuba diving. Minutes to Ho'okena Beach, Two Steps, Pu'uhonoa O Honaunau-The City of Refuge National Park, restaurants, weekly Farmer's Markets, Post Office, a shopping center with a grocery store and more!

Whale watching from shore or by boat from November to April.

Seconds from your own peaceful lanai with tropical breezes and ocean with sunset views.

It works out better for everyone if the studio is left tidy and the deposit is returned. If the deposit is not used for extra cleaning and/or damage, a refund of the deposit will be mailed back to guest(s) within 14 days of departure. 98% of deposits have been returned-promptly.

$200 deposit holds your dates. Balance is due thirty days before arrival. $100 cancellation fee if reservation is cancelled 30 days prior to arrival for weekly reservations, $200 cancellation fee for reservations of a month.

The deposit encourages guests to spend some of their vacation time to tidy up before departure.

Due to the ever changing, yet HIGH cost of electricity in Hawaii, (three times the price as on the Mainland) use of the dryer is not included unless other arrangements have been made. Adequate clothes lines and racks are provided.

For monthly bookings electricity is included up to the average kwts based on the prior three months.

Sorry, no refunds within 30 days of arrival.

Longer term rates may be available with a one month security deposit, acceptable credit report, rental application and references. For reservations of more than a month, the deposit will be reconsidered based on the length of time reserved.

No pets. NO smoking on property.

The Owner purchased this studio in 1983

Why The Owner chose Captain Cook

This land was purchased over 30 years ago with the dream of one day building a home. This house was designed and built in 1998 with a self contained and separate first floor (the studio rental). Friends here suggested that we rent out the first floor to visitors coming to Kona on vacation in 1999. This has worked out well for everyone. Much of our business has been from repeat guests who have become friends and fellow property owners.

What makes this studio unique

Fresh fruits available on the property. Avocados, papayas, mangos, lemons, mountain apple...Peaceful. Pick your own fruits in season.

Please note that May through August are the months that we get the most rain. Hence the lower rates.

Nice place to stay

We spent 2 great weeks staying in the Middle Keei Studio. We found the studio to be very well equipped, clean, quiet and comfortable. It is also reasonably close to swimming/snorkelling beaches, historic sites and a good grocery store. The lanai was a treat for ocean views, sunsets and evening dinners. Owner was very nice and helpful, and efficient with the booking and deposit refund process.

Wonderful getaway!

This rental is simply awesome! I'll definitely be going back next year. The unit is super clean and comfortable and the grounds are beautiful. The owner takes great pride in the property and it shows.

If you want a nice relaxing lanai on the Big Island from which to enjoy great sunsets, warm starry nights with no light pollution, and easy access to wonderful snorkeling spots then this is the place for you.

Clean, Comfortable, Quiet

Perfect location to enjoy excellent snorkel beaches away from the busy beaches close to town. Also perfect for local produce and farmers markets. All the comforts of home in the studio. Hope to stay at studio again in the future.

MY RESTING PLACE

Back again 3 years running. Five weeks of quite contentment and relaxation. This rental absolutely perfect for a couple who want solitude and away from the tourist area in a rural residential setting. One of the best restaurants on the island (Keei Café) just about 10 min north on the main road. The curry fish to die for , also the chicken is perfect. The studio is large with all the comforts , great bed , and the whole place is dazzling clean and bright. Everything is shipshape. Looking forward to my 4th year in a row. DZ

Comfort in Captn. Cook

Great location to "become a local" for a week or two. You can visit all points south without fighting Kona traffic. Manini Beach will become your favorite sunset watching location and great snorkeling entry access. The unit is very clean and private. good internet connection and all appliances work well, full size fridge etc. Not a party location but perfect for couple wanting privacy and a home away from home.

Perfect paradise vacation

This was our first trip to the Big Island and did not know what part of the Island to stay on. After many months of searching for the perfect location we chose this rental after

comparing it to all the other rentals. The price was right and we wanted to be away from the tourist areas. We were not disappointed at all. This place was fantastic. It is everything that was mentioned only more we were not disappointed at all.

The studio apartment was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well supplied with lots of supplies for cooking but If you don't feel like cooking there are some good restaurants close by within 10 min. drive.

The owner was great to work with and was willing to give information about the area. We received lots of info about the area and things to do before we even arrived so that we would have an idea of what to do. Our cleaning deposit was returned to us with in 4 days of returning home.

We enjoyed coming back to this apartment after a full day of exploring this wonderful island. It is a bright and cheerful place and if I hadn't wanted to see the island I would have been content just sitting on the lanai enjoy the view of the ocean and the sunsets while eating the papaya that is grown on the property.

We hope to be able to return to the Big Island and would definitely stay here.

A lanai to enjoy the tropical breezes with an expansive coastline view. A convenience store 1/2 mile away. Close to The City of Refuge National Park and Ho'okena beach as well as Kealakekua Bay. Many coffee farms in the area to sample their 100% Kona coffee. A macadamia nut factory 1/2 mile away with the best fresh mac nuts and prices. Grocery store, Post Office and restaurants within a 10 minute drive.
