This clean and freshly painted studio apartment both inside and out is on the first floor of a newer (1998) two-story home with private entrance and lanai. New bed and appliances.
Located on one tropical acre of fruit trees and pasture. You will be less than 10 minutes by car from Kealakekua Bay for excellent snorkeling, kayaking, and scuba diving. Minutes to Ho'okena Beach, 'Two Steps', Pu'uhonua O Honaunau-also known as 'The City of Refuge' National Park, restaurants, excellent bakery, weekly Farmer's Markets, Post Office, a shopping center with a grocery store and more!
Whale watching from shore or by boat from November to April.
Seconds from your own peaceful lanai with tropical breezes and ocean/sunset views.

14 days: $1,050 (only $75/night!) plus taxes (13.42%), plus refundable deposit ($200). No cleaning fees!
Christmas 2014 and New Years 2015:
December 17th-January 10th:
10 night minimum.
$1,050/week ($150/night) plus taxes (13.42%), plus refundable deposit ($200). No cleaning fees!
Monthly Special for December/early January including Christmas and New Year's:
$2,950/month ($99/night) plus taxes (13.42%), plus refundable deposit ($400), plus $100 cleaning fee/month.
January 11th-April 20th, 2015:
Weekly: $980 ($140/night) plus taxes (13.42%), no cleaning fees! Plus refundable deposit of $200.
No cleaning fees.
14 days: $1,386 (only $99/night) plus taxes (13.42%), plus refundable deposit ($200). No cleaning fees!
Monthly: $2,200 ($74/night) plus taxes (13.42%), plus refundable deposit ($400), plus $100/month cleaning fee.
April 21st-May 30th, 2015:
Weekly: $560 ($80/night) plus taxes (13.42%), no cleaning fees! Plus refundable deposit ($200).
14 days: $910 ($65/night), plus taxes (13.42%), plus refundable deposit ($200). No cleaning fees!
Monthly: $1,575 plus taxes (13.42%), plus refundable deposit ($400), plus $100/month cleaning fee.

If final payment is not received 30 days prior to reservations, some last minute dates may become available.

$200 REFUNDABLE cleaning/damage deposit required for weekly bookings.
$400 REFUNDABLE cleaning/damage deposit required for reservations of a month.
It works out better for everyone if the studio is left tidy and the deposit is returned. This helps us to keep the rates down.
If the deposit is not used for extra cleaning and/or damage, a refund of the deposit will be mailed back to guest(s) within 14 days of departure. 99% of deposits have been returned-promptly.
Monthly rentals have a cleaning fee of $100/month.
For reservations of more than a month, the deposit will be reconsidered based on the length of time reserved.
$200 deposit holds your dates. Balance is due thirty days before arrival.
The deposit encourages guests to spend some of their vacation time to tidy up before departure.
Due to the ever changing, yet HIGH cost of electricity in Hawaii, (three times the price as on the 'Mainland'!) use of the dryer is not included unless other arrangements have been made. Adequate clothes lines and racks are provided.
For monthly bookings electricity is included up to the average kwts based on the prior three months.
$100 cancellation fee if reservation is cancelled 30 days prior to arrival for weekly reservations, $200 cancellation fee for reservations of a month. Rentals of more than a month will be handled on a case by case basis, depending on length of stay.
Sorry, no refunds within 30 days of arrival.
Longer term rates may be available with a one month security deposit, acceptable credit report, rental application and references. No pets. NO smoking on property.

The Owner purchased this studio in 1984
Why The Owner chose Captain Cook
This land was purchased over 30 years ago with the dream of one day building a home. This house was designed and built in 1998 with a self contained and separate first floor (the studio rental). Friends here suggested that we rent out the first floor to visitors coming to Kona on vacation in 1999. This has worked out well for everyone. Much of our business has been from repeat guests who have become friends and fellow property owners.
What makes this studio unique
Fresh fruits available on the property. Avocados, papayas, mangos, lemons, mountain apple...Peaceful. Pick your own fruits in season.
Please note that May through August are the months we get the most rain. Hence the lower rates.
