This home is located in the heart of Florida's nature coast. Fishing and hunting are spectacular. The flats fishing in this area are some of the best in Florida. Trout, Redfish, and Cobia are especially good. The offshore Grouper bite is good as well. Scalloping is great in the summer.
This home is located in a very quiet area with little traffic or people. A large back porch overlooks a small lagoon. A perfect place to get away from it all and just relax. The house has a 'floating' dock that is capable of docking 4 boats.
A large screened in entertaining area below the main house is perfect for large gatherings. A full bath and kitchenette rounds out the amenities.
20 minutes from Perry and 10 minutes from Steinhatchee, Keaton Beach is a neat little fishing village on the Gulf of Mexico. Keaton has a full service marina. It also has a large 2 bay public boat with plenty of parking.
I am a dairy farmer by trade. My hobby is fishing. My family and I love to go the our home on the Gulf and go scalloping in the summer.
Keith Shiver purchased this house in 1997
I purchased this home due for an investment and due to its close proximity to my primary residence, it makes a great get away for my family and I.
The best attribute for me is sitting on the back porch early in the morning before anyone else is up and sipping my coffee. The small lagoon that the porch overlooks is beautiful and you can always watch fish jumping.
The house has plenty of room!! We love sitting outside, so the screen room was awesome. Everyone around was very nice. The canal is a little shallow but if you plan your fishing trips around the tide you will be just fine. We took our 19' Palm Beach with 4 adults, we left 4 hours before high tide and returned 3 hours before low and got in and out fine. Like everything in life it just takes some planning. We are already looking at other weekends this year to rent it again!!
Stayed here for the weekend with 2 other fishing partners and the place was everything that we could ask for and then some. Clean and most comfortable everything that the owner said was right on. We took our 26' flats boat and had absolutely no problem getting in or out of the canals or flats even at a dead low of 1.0 feet smooth sailing so to speek. If you want to go to Keaton and have a perfect vacation I highly recommend this place especially with a large group as there is plenty of room and the fishing is the greatest. Also take your food with you there are all the amenities included to cook out and when you get there you won't want to leave except by boat.
Great place to stay. The addition of the pool table was great. This was the second time we styed at Keith's place.
The house was great for a guys weekend. Had plenty of room and was very enjoyable. Everything was setup nicely for fishing and scalloping....the dock has a nice cleaning table and room for about 3 small boats (16 foot or less). My only negative feed back is that we could barely navigate down the canal during low tide in a jon boat and carolina skiff....or other boat was a hewes flats boat and we had to wait on the tide to come in a little before it could pass thru. A deep sea boat wouldn't stand a chance in this canal.
We have been going to Keaton Beach for years and have mainly stayed at the marina hotel. This year we wanted an "all-in-one" private venue. So we chose this house.
Very close distance to marina, to public boat ramp and to any type of fishing you wish to do.
Ample parking for cars and trailers
Dock is really close to the house
Large screen porch upstairs and down.
House is in need of a deep cleaning!
Some maintenance issues ie; broken door handles, missing door parts, toilet seats loose or falling off, cupboard door falling off, patio furniture falling apart, screens have some cuts...
Mold in the bathrooms
Canal is to shallow, at low tide, to get out! We drafted less than 2' but could not make it out 2.5 hrs before low tide until 2.5 hours after.
Not close to any real stores (Winn Dixie, drug stores, Walmart ect...)
We brought these concerns to the owner Keith and he told us that he is going to take care of these issues. At least the ones that he can control. The water depth is in Mother Natures hands. Being that the house is located in an area that does not have a lot of stores, plan your trip for that. Who want's to be running to the grocery store everyday, when they should be relaxing. All-in-all, If this house gets the attention that it needs and some items brought up to date (WIFI and maybe TV's), not a bad rental for this area and at a decent price.
I've been to the Keaton Beach area several times since I used to own a house there. This place was great. There was ample space for everyone and the screened porch got a lot of use. The pictures accurately described the house. The only thing I wish we had when we were planning, were pics of the bedrooms but it all worked out. The owner, Keith, was very helpful and courteous with our questions. We were already planning another trip before we even left!! One thing I would say is beware at low tide -- the canal gets VERY low. We were not able to bring a boat in the canal and had to store it at Keaton Beach Marina which was no big deal at all. Had a wonderful time, we all wished we could have stayed longer and we've all agreed we will be back!!
