This casita is lovely, newly remodeled, nicely furnished and conveniently located in a building by itself with complete privacy. We are giving the surroundings special care and love this spring!
People have told us they love it because it is cute, comfortable, convenient, oh so clean and QUIET (but yet only steps away from our La Mesa Village commercial area where there is great coffee, breakfast, happy hour, dinner - whatever your heart desires!) and easy access to all freeways, making getting anywhere in San Diego a breeze!
Oliver's Place was completely remodeled in 2010, with upgrades added each year since. It seems more spacious than the average studio because of the vaulted, open beam ceiling. Many say the pictures do not do the space justice. Unexpected are the lovely open, unobstructed views out the spacious windows in 3 directions - to the hills of Mexico, Mission Valley and then to the highest peak in San Diego - Cowles Mountain. A new deck was added in June 2011 as well as a laundry room. Both add to the enjoyment and convenience of guests. 2012 brought more creature comforts: a new Ortho mattress, GE AC that works wonderfully in the hottest of weather, and finally, a new 42'' flat screen TV.
We are conscientious about protecting the environment. We use clean solar electric power and provide opportunity to recycle. Our gardens are lush and water is managed with a drip system. There is a wonderful deck for sunset relaxation and a ZEN-like Garden with swing for reading or just relaxing.
Hummingbirds and wrens and mocking birds visit the yard. There are hawks in the open sky and you can hear the clatter of large flocks of green parrots that visit the Eucalyptus and Jacaranda trees year round.
There is safe and lighted off street parking.
Just steps from the front door of this studio is the heart of the Village of La Mesa, an historic location known as the 'Jewel of The Hills' (click on the link below for La Mesa history and information). There are excellent restaurants, coffee shops, antique and specialty shops. Evenings are often filled with the sound of music from the local venues. The Friday Farmers Market bustles with activity year round. There is sunshine (the coast can be foggy), sunsets, hilly vistas and ocean breezes.
But you may be coming to San Diego for the famous attractions - the beaches, Sea World, San Diego Zoo, Coronado Island, San Diego Bay and events at Qualcomm Stadium. All those places are 10 plus or minus miles away from La Mesa (check out the map) and the freeways that take you there are just a half mile away from the studio. The trolley is handy and provides easy access to downtown San Diego (see link for the Trolley service) and everything between! Visiting San Diego State University? The trolley is the best way to get there because it drops you right on campus!

Guestbook comments from the owner
This was our first time at a VRBO and WE LOVED IT! We hope that everyplace is as wonderful as this. The view was wonderful. The accommodations were spectacular! We loved all the small touches that were added. And, the location was perfect. We really respect the privacy that the owners gave us. We were here for a wedding. We couldn't have done any better at any other location. We feel SO lucky to have found Oliver's Place. Thank you (10 folds) for having us!
Long time La Mesa residents! Love to travel and love to use VRBO when we do travel. We are semi-retired - Geologist and Nurse Practitioner/Medical Anthroplogist.
La Mesa is (almost) always sunny! We find we like that quality as opposed to the fog that can be ever present right on the coast. So, living inland is our choice.
A personal space, made more so with owner's travel momentos, rotating art from the main house, pottery, antiques handed down in the family.
