Galatas is the starting point for day trips to Methana (sulphur bath), Epidavros (the antique theatre and Hypokration), the picturesque city Nafplion (the first capital of Greece), the medieval castles and other places of interest, the city of Argos, the antique Mycenae, Corinth with its antique towns and the channel which connects the Aegean with the Ionic Sea. Besides, you can visit the historical Mistras, surrounded by a charming landscape, Sparta, the Castle of Monemvasia, the antique cities of Olympia and Navarinon (Pylos), which are unique. Not far away from Galata there are the island of Aegina, Ydra and Spetses. Cycladen can be reached by charter ship.
