property managers, Heather Allen/Michaela Bichrest for addl info & booking info purchased this house in 2009

Why property managers, Heather Allen/Michaela Bichrest for addl info & booking info chose Harpswell

My parents completed this spec home in 1992 after my father retired from the Navy. We fell in love with the place, visiting numerous times with our children during the '90's; fishing, going out on lobster runs with my Dad and just relaxing. My parents intention was to pass the property on to their kids. With my Dad's passing, Mom finally reached a point where she could no longer take care of the place alone. We purchased the property in the summer of 2009 as our second home. We have had numerous friends comment on how beautiful the property and area are and expressing a desire to stay. It was then we decided to offer it as a vacation rental so others could share in the beauty & tranquility of this place.

What makes this house unique

Quiet and away from the busy main streets of town but close enough (7-miles) for convenient access for food shopping nd other supplies. The neighborhood is extremely quiet and serene. The neighbors are friendly and very respectful of each others privacy. For us, this place offers a great escape from the day to day stresses of our jobs. This is one of the few places we have ever been that truly allows us to completely unwind and 'recharge'.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We came back to Maine (after 18-years) to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Maine is where we met, got married and our youngest child was born. Thoroughly enjoyed re-visiting some of our favorite places like Maxwell's Restaurant in Bath.

To our hosts of this beautiful place, we say thank you and see you again soon. This place will be our first choice to reserve. Maine will always have a special place in our heart and your home just made it perfect!

Great property and location

The property was great. Very well kept and homey feeling. Management company was great to deal with and extremely accommodating A nice place to unwind and relax. Only 20 minutes to all the major shopping outlets in Freeport. Will definitely see if it available again for next fall.

What a wonderful set up for boaters. nice dock, deep water. My wife liked the house overall.
What we were most impressed with and this is a bit odd is the warmth of the total house. Being from
the deep south, the thursday we arrived was the tail end of a Norht easter and is was cold.[52 or so]
We had never been in a home with base board heat. I inspected the heating plant. My observation is
thus. Why does not eveyone build like this? The pipes are all copper, even piping under the sinks. the
pipe joins the stainless fixture linkage. No PVC here. Also the fittings were perfectly soldered, the elec
lines were in perfect alignment and all switch/ circuit breakes labled. A lot time and thought went into this
building. I enjoyed my time there. Art Magill

Owner's Response: Art, your perspective is a first for these reviews. Thanks for transporting me back to when the home was first built. My father would have much appreciated your comments. He took a great deal of pride in the construction of the home. Attention to detail was one of his trademarks (he was a carpenter aside from his career as an officer and naval aviator) and it shows in the construction of my parents retirement home. We share your perspectives of the home being warm and inviting. So glad you and your wife enjoyed your stay. We hope to see you return in the future.

Great View of Quahog Bay

  • 5 of 5
Excellent amenities in the house, nice rooms, comfortable beds and furniture. Awesome view from the back porch facing the water, nice dock and excellent grill!

Only complaint was that the lawn was sprayed during our stay, so the kids could not play outside on the lawn for one of the nicest days during our stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review and feedback. It is important for us to understand what you enjoyed and where we can improve the quality of your stay. We will ask our gardener to refrain from this type of maintenance when guests are at the house and adjust accordingly. We hope you consider us again for future vacations. Take care.

Relaxing setting, great time

  • 5 of 5
We came to enjoy the coast of Maine with friends, eat lobster and relax. House was very clean and comfortable, with cool breezes off the cove. Great view of the water from the deck while relaxing with drinks. Did not cook much at the house instead hit the local restaurants; don't miss Gurnetts Trading or the Giant Stairs Seafood Grill for lobster rolls. For dinner the Dolphin was excellent, great blueberry muffins get some to go, Morse's was our favorite great food and atmosphere, seemed to be very popular with the locals. And if you can find them the Damariscotta oysters are superb. If you are planning on cooking don't pass up the Vegetable Stand on 123, home cooked items and friendly staff and a great butcher; on the way stop in at Black Sheep Winery. This was an excellent choice for a two couples get-away, we came for seafood, views, and relaxation and found it all here or a short drive away.
