Why Leah Kohn chose 18th Arrondissement Montmartre

Paris has been our constant destination since the 60’s, always feeling like home when we return. Ultimately we graduated from hotels to rental apartments and began to enjoy living in the residential arrondissements and appreciating the Parisian lifestyle. Thus, when we decided to purchase an apartment, Montmartre was our choice since it has an artistic history, as well as a small village atmosphere, while still being close to the center of Paris.

This apartment is a gem

  • 5 of 5

This is a spacious and comfortable apartment in a charming neighborhood with access to metro and bus. Our family of 4 adults had a wonderful experience walking Montmartre's hilly, quaint neighborhoods, away from much of the tourist traffic of the city center. Leah was extremely helpful and the arrangements were perfect. The early 1900s apartment was nicely appointed (washer-dryer, dishwasher), immaculate, and had a very Parisienne feel to it with gorgeous crown moldings and french doors. It had an elevator if needed. We walked or took the metro (7 minutes walk) everywhere. We especially loved buying pastries and quiche for breakfast everyday at La Tradition or Delmontel. Also, the Cafe Poste is a great place to peoplewatch- we had fun watching the children walk to school several mornings while we drank our coffee (try the Cafe Viennoise)! Also, we recommend a walking food tour with Preston Mohr (see "Paris By the Glass") - we had a great time. We were so sad to leave this place and hope we can return soon!

Wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was even better then the pictures. So lovely and spacious!

Loved the french balconies and the amazing headroom. It felt like a small palace.

The kitchen was modern and well equipped. The WIFI-connection worked perfect, something our teenagers appreciated. The neighborhood was nice, with everything you could need nearby. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Wonderful stay in Montmartre

  • 5 of 5

We stayed about 35 days in this apartment while visiting the city and shooting photographs around Paris. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, the beds are comfortable and the apartment is spacious, clean, nicely decorated and comfortable. The rooms all open into a central foyer which add to the spacious feeling of the apartment and allow a person to work/study in a particular room if need be. The toilette, located in a small room, is separate and next to the bathroom.

The apartment location is a 5-10 minute walk from the nearest metro station and a bus stop is conveniently located near the front of the apartment. The street is quiet and there are many good restaurants and shops in the neighborhood. La Basilique du Sacré Coeur is a 15 minute walk from the apartment.

I cannot say enough good things about the owner and host of this property. We were treated with kindness and attention to any questions or needs that we had during our stay. I recommend this apartment to my family and friends as the place to stay while in Paris. I am an experienced traveler and photographer and I prefer accommodations that are nice, comfortable, well located and worth the money that I spend. When I return to Paris this is the apartment where I will stay if it is available.

Wonderful, Large Parisian Apartment

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed at 86 rue Damremont for a week. I recommend staying at the apartment without qualification. It was lovely, clean and well-appointed. And it had the features I wanted: tall ceilings, French windows in all the main rooms and a great view of a recently cleaned early 20th c. apartment building across the street. (After we filled a vase with fresh flowers, we felt very French.) One of the reasons we chose to stay here was the separation of bedrooms. We were traveling with our 23 year old son and wanted to maintain the degree of privacy we've come to expect at home. I would recommend the apartment for 2 couples or for friends traveling together. (One bedroom faces the street and one opens into a quiet inner court.) We loved the neighborhood, which is off the tourist track, and definitely recommend exploring the area. However, we were in Paris for the art. Luckily, the 95 bus and nearest metro took us directly to the rue de Rivoli. I should also mention how pleasant it was to correspond with the owners, Leah and Jon Kohn. They were responsive to our needs and figured out a way to provide access to the apartment when we arrived in the middle of the night. We plan to stay in their apartment in the future.

"Absolutely Perfect"!!

  • 5 of 5

We had just a great time at Leah and Jon's apt. The pictures are very accurate.

The area is well away from all the tourist areas, but, easily accessible by several bus lines. This makes you feel very much Parisian, you get to know the neighborhood which has several food stores, bakeries, and a great fresh fish shop. We travelled with my wife's 80 year old mom, so being able to cook also helped our trip. The kitchen is right out of Ikea, so cooking was a dream.

Leah could not have been more helpful. Every question I asked was answered within a couple hours. She suggested several things ( taxi's resturants etc) all were wonderful. I would highly highly suggest staying here if you want to guarantee a great Paris trip, Bon jour!

Lovely apartment, great neighborhood.

  • 4 of 5

This was our second trip to Paris, traveling with friends who were also revisiting this fabulous city. We chose Montmartre as it was the one area neither of us had visited before. We chose the apartment because it had a fully functional kitchen and our plan was to take advantage of all the wonderful produce we had seen on sale during our previous visits, to cook for ourselves as well as eat out.

Both the apartment and the area turned out to be even better than we expected. The apartment was beautifully appointed with large rooms, a well supplied kitchen and quality furnishings. The beds were super comfortable too!

The neighborhood was lively, full of interesting shops and very close to bus and metro stops. We felt very safe walking around, day or night. The apartment building itself was quiet, though the street life was bustling till around midnight each day before quietening down for the night.

Our hosts had thoughtfully provided a folder of information about the apartment and also to help us find our way around. There was also lots of books on the bookshelf about what to do and see in Paris.

We highly recommend this lovely apartment and Montmartre - we had a fabulous 12 day stay.
