Why Leah Kohn chose 18th Arrondissement Montmartre

Paris has been our constant destination since the 60’s, always feeling like home when we return. Ultimately we graduated from hotels to rental apartments and began to enjoy living in the residential arrondissements and appreciating the Parisian lifestyle. Thus, when we decided to purchase an apartment, Montmartre was our choice since it has an artistic history, as well as a small village atmosphere, while still being close to the center of Paris.

Wonderful, Large Parisian Apartment

  • 5 of 5
My family stayed at 86 rue Damremont for a week. I recommend staying at the apartment without qualification. It was lovely, clean and well-appointed. And it had the features I wanted: tall ceilings, French windows in all the main rooms and a great view of a recently cleaned early 20th c. apartment building across the street. (After we filled a vase with fresh flowers, we felt very French.) One of the reasons we chose to stay here was the separation of bedrooms. We were traveling with our 23 year old son and wanted to maintain the degree of privacy we've come to expect at home. I would recommend the apartment for 2 couples or for friends traveling together. (One bedroom faces the street and one opens into a quiet inner court.) We loved the neighborhood, which is off the tourist track, and definitely recommend exploring the area. However, we were in Paris for the art. Luckily, the 95 bus and nearest metro took us directly to the rue de Rivoli. I should also mention how pleasant it was to correspond with the owners, Leah and Jon Kohn. They were responsive to our needs and figured out a way to provide access to the apartment when we arrived in the middle of the night. We plan to stay in their apartment in the future.

"Absolutely Perfect"!!

"Absolutely Perfect"!!

We had just a great time at Leah and Jon's apt. The pictures are very accurate.
The area is well away from all the tourist areas, but, easily accessible by several bus lines. This makes you feel very much Parisian, you get to know the neighborhood which has several food stores, bakeries, and a great fresh fish shop. We travelled with my wife's 80 year old mom, so being able to cook also helped our trip. The kitchen is right out of Ikea, so cooking was a dream.

Leah could not have been more helpful. Every question I asked was answered within a couple hours. She suggested several things ( taxi's resturants etc) all were wonderful. I would highly highly suggest staying here if you want to guarantee a great Paris trip, Bon jour!

Lovely apartment, great neighborhood.

  • 4 of 5
This was our second trip to Paris, traveling with friends who were also revisiting this fabulous city. We chose Montmartre as it was the one area neither of us had visited before. We chose the apartment because it had a fully functional kitchen and our plan was to take advantage of all the wonderful produce we had seen on sale during our previous visits, to cook for ourselves as well as eat out.
Both the apartment and the area turned out to be even better than we expected. The apartment was beautifully appointed with large rooms, a well supplied kitchen and quality furnishings. The beds were super comfortable too!
The neighborhood was lively, full of interesting shops and very close to bus and metro stops. We felt very safe walking around, day or night. The apartment building itself was quiet, though the street life was bustling till around midnight each day before quietening down for the night.
Our hosts had thoughtfully provided a folder of information about the apartment and also to help us find our way around. There was also lots of books on the bookshelf about what to do and see in Paris.
We highly recommend this lovely apartment and Montmartre - we had a fabulous 12 day stay.

The Parisian experience

  • 5 of 5
When we were planning our trip to Paris, we had in mind to live like a Parisian. Well we were very, very fortunate on choose the Leah's & John apartment. The apartament is very nice, furniture and details very well carefully placed and all things work perfectly, and is very clean. We feel like home, and we had an opportunity to live our dreamed Parisian experience. The neighborhood is very nice and isn't too touristic, it has all facilities you need, easy bus to downtown, easy and 10 minutes walk metro station Jules Joffrin. Fabienne showed the apartment and details. We stayed 9 wonderful days and we recommend this apartment.
Merci beaucoup !

A beautiful, spacious apt. in a great neighborhood

  • 5 of 5
We stayed in this apartment for 6 nights, and had a great time. The apartment is really nice - it's in a beautiful old Paris building, so it has lots of classic charm, but it's been updated so it has all of the modern amenities. The space was perfect for us, because my 14 mo old son had his own room, so we didn't have to tiptoe around after he went to sleep. He really enjoyed crawling around the apartment and exploring the space, and while it is not 100% childproofed, it was well-suited for a baby or young child as it was easy to keep him safe while letting him explore the various rooms. Additionally, the fact that the building had an elevator made getting up and down with a stroller much easier.

We also loved the neighborhood. It wasn't right in the center of Paris, but it was easy to reach all the main attractions by metro or bus. Meanwhile, it felt like we were really living among Parisians, not just surrounded by tourists. We loved shopping at the local bakeries, produce shops, and cheese shop, and taking our son to the nearby playground, which was bustling with Parisian families every evening. Finally, the owners really make the whole process very smooth. They are easy to deal with, friendly, and helpful (even providing suggestions for the later part of our France trip). They sent our security deposit back only a few days after we left. The greeter in Paris was also very friendly and helpful.

Well Worth Returning Here

  • 5 of 5
We spend about one month each year in Paris. Our housing focuses on comparability to being at home. We like comfortable sleeping and preparation of elaborate meals with locally bought ingredients. This spacious apartment is bright, aesthetically furnished, and extremely well equipped with everything working. The kitchen is right for gourmet cooking. This is due to the thoughtfulness and diligence of the owners who care about providing true value and who happen to be very responsive and nice people. A major bus to center of Paris stops near the door and 2 Metros are an easy walk. Plenty of fine food shopping nearby and some nice boutiques. We enjoyed eating out and there are several world class restaurants nearby--but all of Paris is within easy reach. While Paris prompts one to explore and be out most of the time it is also nice to have a comfortable place to read, surf the internet and relax. We obviously would recommend this place to our friends since we are likely to return for a third time ourselves. Checking in and out was seamless and reception was punctual and courteous.
