The Adobe Agave is a green establishment and there is no smoking on the premises. We avoid the use of harsh chemicals, use and provide ecologically safe cleaning products, and our organic guest gardens provide fresh, natural & soothing fragrances.
Each apartment at Adobe Agave has a unique layout, eclectic fine furnishings, colorful exotic SW, Mexican, and international decor, original artwork of area artists, and ceiling fans throughout. We hope you join us to enjoy our casual, fine living.
When you join us, you are greeted by fresh flowers & a Welcome Basket of fresh, organic fruit, fair trade coffee & chocolates, selection of herbal & black teas, and fresh homemade muffins/snacks that are delivered during your stay. You will also find the fridge stocked with yogurts, bagels/English muffins, butter, cream cheese, fruit spread and half n' half - all organic! We always use the freshest, sustainable, whole foods & organic ingredients whenever possible.
Adobe Agave kitchens are fully equipped with full-sized appliances, & gourmet quality small appliances / cookware & tableware. Adobe Agave's bedroom and baths feature the artfully chosen, 100% cotton and natural fiber linens and towels that offer you home comfort you seldom find in other vacation rentals.
The front gardens provide flowering habitats with native plantings that our attract famous iridescent hummingbirds and butterflies. The exposed adobe wall surrounding the rear garden provides our guests with a private communal outdoor retreat that features fragrant plantings, our newly installed native pink limestone patios, a stone firepit & grills.
We also think you'll enjoy our attention to detail, like our well-stocked bookshelves of an eclectic and worldly blend of contemporary and classical fiction, politics, philosophy, birding references, as well as local history and folklore.
Premium satellite TV, as well as high-speed wireless Internet access is also provided free of charge as a courtesy to our guests.
Adobe Agave is a short walk through the picturesque Historic District to Silver City's downtown area.
Surrounding our main street, Bullard, you will find gift and book shops, museums, the famous Yankee Street art community of galleries, the Silver City Food Co-op, & day spas. You will also enjoy the downtown bakeries & coffee shops, delis, restaurants, and wine bar where you can enjoy live music on week nights.
Within a short walk of two to three blocks of Adobe Agave are trail heads into the expansive Boston Hill Nature Preserve, where you can enjoy all manner of hiking and stunning panoramic views of Silver City & the surrounding mountains. Some of the darkest skies in the country provide a bountiful star gazing experience for amateur and serious astronomers alike.
Easy area day trips include the Gila National Forest, a wealth of hiking trails, cycling, birding, the Gila Cliff dwellings, petroglyph and other archaeological sites, a natural hot springs, and numerous historic & geological sites. Our Gila River is the last remaining truly wild river in the country.

After 14 years in the computer field, property owner, Ellen O'Bryan relocated from the Puget Sound area to Silver City. Having spent most of her life around water - growing up on Galveston Island, living in Puerto Rico and Puget Sound - Ellen finds New Mexico, and the high desert of the Silver City area, truly the Land of Enchantment with the amazing colors, the star-studded nights, the stellar weather, and wonderful people.

Ellen fell in love with New Mexico during the (MANY;-) years attending graduate school at UT Austin - a destination well worth the day long drive across Texas. During her yearly trips to New Mexico, Ellen dreamed of one day living in New Mexico.
As Adobe Agave's owner & proprietor, Ellen O'Bryan, has found the realization of another dream - to own and run a small vacation rental of individual cottages - like the old motor court motels she saw on summer family road trips - in a magical setting. Ellen bought the adobe sixplex that houses Adobe Agave in 2006 and spent the first two years renovating, furnishing and decorating Adobe Agave. Ellen considers Adobe Agave to be an ongoing work of art, is always making improvements, and thoroughly enjoys refining her vision and caring for her guests.
Another one of Ellen's lifelong interests has been architecture - in particular, the creation of unique living spaces and earth built structures. So she finds the perfect blending of this interest in Adobe Agave. The foot thick adobe walls and the simplicity of the 110+ year old structure of Adobe Agave provides a peaceful, quiet, tranquility that both Ellen and her guests enjoy.
Adobe Agave is 100+ yr old adobe built sixplex, offering 5 beautifully appointed one & two bedroom apartments, nestled at the base of the Boston Hill Nature Preserve, an extensive wildlife/nature preserve surrounding the SW quadrant of the Historic District of Silver City. Silver City itself is located on the edge of the Gila Wilderness, the largest wilderness area in the continental US, and is a burgeoning ecotourism destination. Silver City is the perfect starting point for numerous day trips & activities, including: birding, hiking, cycling, camping, natural hot springs, horseback excursions, rock climbing, cliff dwellings & ruins, as well as many historic & archaeological/geological sites.
