A bunch of family were here. We enjoyed the home and it fit us well. We felt a part of the D.C. landscape and found our way around solely by Metro and bus. The place was quite comfortable and we slept long each morning after days of adventure. We will fondly remember these days amongst rows of colonial houses in North/East Washington.
We were very pleasantly impressed with this home. It was very well equipped with everything needed for our stay. The home has lots of character and the neighborhood is very quiet. Loved the parking at the back at the home as in front of the home was not possible. Plenty of room for everyone. The owner is very thorough in directions, information, and promptness in emails. Would strongly recommend staying here!
We had 6 of us with 3 grown children and had plenty of space and a wonderfully updated kitchen. Fabulous, plush towels and updated bathrooms (3) as well, made our stay very comfortable. The neighborhood is friendly and conveniently located off Michigan Avenue which made it an easy access into downtown Washington.
We were in DC from Oct 17-21 and enjoyed our stay here. The house was very nice with plenty of room and lots of charm. It is an old house so it has quirks but that is part of the charm. Only one shower at a time - old house equals low water pressure - but we never ran out of hot water. There were 7 of us and we had more than enough room to stretch out. A great kitchen table so we could all eat together ( a few more chairs would be nice).
The neighborhood was great as well. We all felt safe taking a walk and it was so close to downtown with plenty of public transportation available. No large grocery store close but we found one about 5 miles away.
The beds are not the best. Really hard mattresses. And they only have one key to the house. This is really hard if you have several groups of people trying to go out.
All in all we had a great stay and would definitely recommend this place!
Good location, pleasant neighborhood. House is well furnished and everything needed was supplied. We had a group of five and all enjoyed our stay.
It worked much better for us with 3 adults and 5 kids to stay in a house versus a hotel. The house was very clean and well stocked with paper products. Everyone had space to unwind and chill. (Lower level was a bit damp/chilly) We packed very light knowing there was a washer and dryer. We cooked our morning and evening meals at the house. We didn't much care for the International Market which was the closest grocery, but Giant Food was very good.
We quickly learned to use the transit system (SmarTrip cards) and mobile apps. With the bus stop just a block away and the Metro a mile away it only took a little while to get into and back from the city. The neighborhood was quiet and the people we met were all very friendly.
It was very helpful to have a computer and printer on site to print out sight-seeing reservations and boarding passes.
We would definitely rent the property again if we came back to the area and would recommend it to others.
My family and I stayed here for 4 nights in August and everything worked very well for us.
Plenty of space.
Very well equipped (esp kitchen and cable in all rooms but also plenty of comfortable seating).
Good quality throughout - inc toiletries and towels.
Efficient booking and communication (including return of deposit!).
Negatives (all minor):
The room with 2 beds is in the basement (so may not suit younger children) and is a few degrees cooler than the rest of the property (not a problem in August!).
Floor boards very sqeaky (esp noticiable in basement).
Overall great value for money.
