The best of Maine is available for your vacation. Ease of modern living mixed with the rustic woodland only Maine can provide. THIS IS NOT A WATERFRONT HOME. This house is an oasis unto itself, snuggled into the woods, surrounded by wildlife and mature evergreens, you cannot see the neighbors. Yet you can walk (or drive or ride one of our bikes) to the best white sand uncrowded beaches on Casco Bay. Bask in the sun and swim at south beach, collect rocks on pebble beach, follow trails to hidden coves, investigate tidal pools, dive off the pier with the daring youth, or watch the lobster men work their traps. Long Island is only 2 1/2 miles long and 1/2 mile wide, with a speed limit of 20 MPH and the safest, friendliest people you will ever meet. The house is large and handles 10 people and guests easily. Kitchen, dining room, living room, two full baths, two large bedrooms with queen beds are on the first floor, the upstairs is unfinished with two double beds and two twin beds.

People were buying up the Maine Coast at an incredible rate. Working waterfront and public access to the coast seemed to be at risk. We wanted to preserve a part of the coast for our extended family.
Just to get to stop. It begins with the ferry ride, that sets you up for a time shift. There is just something about the island. The very properties that make it irritating, like the ferry schedule, are what makes it feel like you are continents away from your daily life grind. Everyone there has let go for a while, in a deep way. Walking the beaches and the inland trails, checking out the beaver dam. Biking around and meeting new people or finding new adventures. Of course the sunsets.
We were very happy with our stay at Moo's Place. The communications from the owners were prompt and filled with useful information. The car available for use was essential and greatly appreciated. The house had everything we needed and then some! We traveled with young children and our stay was very comfortable. We enjoyed many hours on the huge sunny deck. One thing the pictures do not show is the new comfy furniture in the living room. Reclining courch and loveset was perfect for rainy day movie watching. We love Long Island and would recommend this place to anyone looking for an affordable rental option with lots of space. We feel it was a great value.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay(s) at this home away from home. Have been there as a renter and also as a guest. Cozy, comfortable, very clean, homey atmosphere - perfect for a couple or a crowd. Spacious deck with plenty of comfy seating and barbeque grill - Perfect for relaxed meals, or full kitchen facilities and dining room offer a more formal eating choice.

Everything that you need and more is provided for a restful retreat or adventurous stay-your choice. Equipped with a vehicle, and bikes. Board games, videos etc to keep kids(of all ages) busy - also plenty of beaches within walking distance and hiking opportunities for the more active vacationer. I have recommended it to several of my friends.
There is a quaint local grocery, library, and more. We bought lobsters from a local fisherman at a very reasonable rate for a home cooked shore dinner.
The ferry ride to and from only adds to the experience by allowing you to leave hustle and bustle behind on trip out, and prepare your mind for that same hustle and bustle on the trip back to the mainland.
If you visit once, you will find yourself yearning for a return trip soon.
