WELCOME TO LIBERTY LODGE!
Visit an original 1935 lodge, nestled on a private lot, built on the southern bank of beautiful Buffalo Lake.
You will find the lodge extremely charming, with the original exposed chinked log walls, hand hewn log steps to the loft bedroom and an Americana decorating theme. There’s fabulous amenities like quality china, cutlery, flatware, linens/blankets, and flat panel TV with DVD player. The natural beauty of this site remains and is frequented with sightings of eagles, cranes, turkeys, rabbits, deer and of course the abundant water animals of beaver, musk rat, turtles, and fish. All may be viewed from the comfort of a large deck, with a gas grill and plenty of seating for entertaining. From the deck, there are 21 steps down, that lead to the lake level. You will have a private pier to fish from, swim or simply hitch a boat up to. Row boat included with your rental! A motor boat rental is available, (Johnson Boats - Montello). Public hunting land is close by, just inquire.
Want to “go up town”? There’s plenty to do in the quaint near-by town of Montello (a 5 minute drive, or a 4 mile bike ride, we supply the bikes). The Granite Falls are a must-see and there’s cafe’s, restaurants, old fashioned candy/ice cream shop, historical museum and an original old movie theater, canoe and kayak rentals too at (Rendezvous - Montello). There’s also Princeton, “Antique Capitol of the World”, 15 minutes drive to the east, with great pizza (Pizza Factory), fun shops and an awesome Saturday flea market (spring/summer). Wisconsin Dells, the “ Water Park Capitol of the World” is only a 30 minute drive SW. No telephone, so bring a cellular phone with you.
ANY SEASON, ANY REASON!
In January/February/March Ice fishing (in 2014) is tons of fun. If you don’t have the tip-ups and auger, we’ll set you up with ours. If ice conditions are right we offer 'ice bowling'. Also in our area, down hill skiing close by at Nordic Mt. or Cascade Mt. If you have snowmobiles, there are area trails to explore. April/May is a great time to hike the Page Creek Marsh (about 1 mile away). The marsh creek can be crossed on plank boards to a little wooden bridge. Don’t fall off the plank! June/July/August has endless possibilities of fishing, swimming, boating, hiking, biking, shopping, restaurants, antiquing, small town art fairs and tractor pulls. At night there are lots of stars and enjoy a bon fire (we supply 25 pieces of fire wood, more is for sale if you need it). September/October/November see the magnificent fall colors while boating up and down the lake. Bow and gun hunting is big in our area, with public hunting grounds close by (we can forward the information for your type of hunting). In December the lodge will be decorated for the holidays, sure to get you in the holiday spirit.
