Enjoy all Mount Desert Island has to offer at the beautiful Seamist Cottage. A classic 1800's New England Farmhouse located within a 2 minute walk to Bass Harbor, the ferry and restaurants. The layout is ideal for a large family or 2 families. Upstairs, there is a master bedroom with a king tempurpedic bed, a bedroom with twin beds and a large bathroom with shower. Downstairs there is a bedroom with queen bed, a bedroom with twin bunk beds and a large bathroom with shower and washer & dryer. In addition, downstairs there is a family room with fireplace, fully equipped kitchen with window seat and dining area, mudroom and sliding doors to an outdoor patio with teak table and chairs. The front of the house has a wrap around porch with wicker chairs and tables. The 1 acre property has mature gardens and stepping stone paths. One path leads to a wonderful grassy yard with hammocks, sand box, picnic table, badminton net and a shed to store bikes and beach chairs.

The Seamist Cottage is located on the Island Explorer Bus Route which stops in Southwest Harbor, Bar Harbor, and numerous places in Acadia National Park. You can get on & off the bus directly in front of the Seamist Cottage making getting around the island enjoyable and stress free.

We are minutes from the famous Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse, Wonderland and Ship Harbor Trails of Acadia National Park. Echo Lake Beach is a 10 minute drive. The Park Loop Road, with access to Cadillac Mountain, Sand Beach, Thunderhole, Asticou Gardens is a 20 minute drive.

Dining and shopping in the picturesque setting of Southwest Harbor is just 3 miles away and historic Bar Harbor is 17 miles.

We had a great week at Seamist Cottage. My family (husband, 2 daughters age 5 and 7, and me) travelled with another family of friends. We all enjoyed the cottage and the wonderful trails in Acadia National Park. Marc and Robin were excellent hosts providing us with recommendations for groceries, shopping, hiking, biking, beaches, restaurants and other activities.

My sisters & I stayed at the Seamist cottage. We've rented thru VRBO but found this house to have the most "extras". We never stayed in a house that included coffee & shampoos etc. The house was clean & the owners were available to answer questions. It was nice to stay on the quiet side of MDI. There was room for all of us to have dinner together. The living room was comfortable too. I highly recommend this house.

Beautiful and Relaxing

We spent a blissful and relaxing week in Bass Harbor.The Cottage was just as it appears;very clean,neat and comfortable with ample space for seven members of our family and a dog!The kitchen was also very well equipped.We all particularly enjoyed the wrap around porch, where we spent much time reading and enjoying each others company.The Cottage is situated in a quieter part of the island,which we liked,but was a short drive to Acadia,some other quaint villages,trails and many good restaurants.We did not meet the owners, but they were very receptive to any questions we had.We definitely would recommend this property to a friend or relative.

Quiet and relaxing week

Our family had a great time enjoying Acadia from this quiet peaceful house in Bass Harbor. We especially loved taking the kids to the two wonderful hikes located in the Seawall part of the part, Wonderland and Ship Harbor. We spent a few days exploring the Echo lake area, there are lots of trails as well as swimming. We loved being able to enjoy the park and come back to a peaceful location to rest. The floor plan of the house worked perfectly for our family(4 adults and 3 kids). We were able to enjoy our time together and spread out when we needed space. The owners were great and had some toys for our kids to play with during our times at the house. The house really had everything we needed for a great family vacation.

Good value, close to wholesale lobster!

This house is a good value if you don't mind being about 30 minutes away from the busy side of the island. There was only traffic on one day as we were driving through SW Harbor during their Flamingo Festival on our last day.

The house is comfortable, although not luxurious. It's an older house with creaking floors and doors that don't quite close well, but the bathrooms and kitchen are large.

The best part of the house is it is a 2 minute walk to the Bass Harbor Pier, where you can buy fresh uncooked lobster from the CH Rich Company, and bring them back to cook at the house (there are two large pots) and eat them in the comfort of the house (there are shell crackers and meat pickers too). Much cheaper than going to a lobster pound; although if you want to do that Thurston's is a 5 minute drive across the harbor.
