House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 3-5)

This 2 bedroom 2 bath house was built in 1989, and features a tin roof, with living quarters on 'stilts', in the traditional coastal Florida style. It was remodeled and all new furniture installed, in the winter of 2010.

Nature lovers will find a lot to love. The house sits on a 3 acre lot which it shares with one other similarly-styled home. A large deck with outdoor seating and dining overlooks mangroves at the edge of Lemon Bay. Oranges, grapefruit, mango, bananas, and avocado trees, plus many native plants grow on the property. Owls reside in the mature pines surrounding the home, and eagles and osprey nest nearby.

A coastal estuary is beyond the mangroves, where kayaks can be launched and paddled into Lemon Bay. Sea birds and fish are plentiful, including redfish, snook, and spotted sea trout. Stump Pass is immediately across Lemon Bay, which provides access to the Gulf of Mexico.

Within 10 mins, there are beaches, 3 golf courses open to visitors, marina's for boat rentals and a fishing pier. Boca Grande with unique boutiques, quality restaurants and world famous Tarpon fishing in the Pass, is 20 mins away. Sarasota is 30 miles to the North, with many cultural attractions (theater, baller, opera, concerts, Ringling Museum), as well as spring training games with the Baltimore Orioles.

About The Owner

Steve and Andrea Hillebrand are the managers of the property. Full time Sarasota, Florida residents since 1983, they are very knowledgable about the area and and its activities and attractions. They are always onhand to ensure your vacation is as enjoyable as possible!

The Owner purchased this house in 1989
Why The Owner chose Englewood

My parents, siblings and I started coming to this area of Florida in 1969, for vacations in the sun, far from Michigan's winters. The main attractions are still the same: natural beauty, beaches and sunny weather.

What makes this house unique

close to beaches, golfing courses, boating waters,excellent fishing and kyaking,as well as abundant natural habitat, peacefull and relaxing environment.

Lovely Mangrove Vacation

This was my first VRBO rental, but I would do it again if all homes were like this one. We found the house with no problems, and everything was just as expected. The owner had given us advanced instructions that helped upon our arrival. Everything was clean and neat and we had no problem finding things we needed.

There is a patio table and chairs on the front porch, which was helpful for our lunch guests as the dinning table is high with bar chairs. Otherwise, it was a perfect week in southwest Florida.

Beaches, restaurants and stores are only a very short drive away. We walked to the Stump Pass Bar and Grill.

We drove to Myakka State Park, Stump Pass State Park, Englewood Beach, and Siesta Beach. Johnny Leverock Restaurant is less than 10 minutes south, and a great place to eat.

I would certainly consider this rental again when I return to the Englewood area.

A true bit of paradise.

The week was a great stay. We meet the owner. Also the nieghbors next store. It was our 1st Florida stay without a pool but with dock access I never missed the water. The wildlife & marine life was accurate as listed. We stayed with our 18 yr old & 3 yr old. Both had a comfortable stay. Thanks for a great stay. The secludedness was a true blessing. :)

Amazing hideaway on the Gulf Coast

My Florida Vacations tend to be about the three B's Bikes Beaches and Books. This place was great for all three...if you are a cyclist you will have secure sheltered storage for your bikes under the house...if you like a quiet getaway at the end of a day in the beautiful Gulf Coast you can sit on a massive porch on comfortable deck chairs in a palm tree paradise. We used a different part of the Manasota Key each day for the beach they were all great. We added one or two easy day trips to Siesta Key and Sarasota as well. The place is great. For comparison, we stayed in a two bedroom condo at Fort Myers two years ago this was 1/2 the price. If the two were at even money, we would still choose this spot!

Relaxing and beautiful

We had a very relaxing week in this very tastefully renovated house with wonderful antique furniture and hardwood floors. I loved not having outdated flowery furniture but having a really classy sea-shell themed interior design.
The book selection is a nice added touch and the wireless worked without problems after the fix.
Best of all, it was childproof enough for our 2 year old :)
We will definitely be back for another stay!
