Frankfort House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 11)

If you enjoy small town sidewalks, tree-lined streets and real neighborhoods then you'll love The Bluehouse. It's comfortable and inviting inside. The interior is updated; yet kept in the comfortable cottage style of the original 1890's home, including fireplace, plank flooring, and French Doors.

Rental arrangements made after April 15 will now include the entire house. The large family room with TV can be opened up to the main bedroom for additional living space. The upstairs has 2 large bedrooms, kitchen & bathroom. It can be open or closed off to the downstairs depending on your needs. Downstairs we have a large Country Kitchen with cooking and service for 8.

The private backyard has a fire ring for evening campfires and a charcoal BBQ for grilling. There is a basketball hop and pad for the kids.

The backyard easily accomodates 3 cars parking single file. There is plenty of room to park a boat trailer if needed. There is also street parking in front along Leelanau Avenue.

Our classic front porch tends to be a sitting and gathering point.

You can walk everywhere if you want to. The house is centrally located and is only 2-3 blocks from the Grocery Store, Ice Cream Shop, Downtown Shopping, Restaurants, Library, Antique Store, Coffee Shop, Bike Trails, Tennis Courts, Fishing Dock.

Eight blocks to Lake Michigan Beach.

Two blocks to the Bay.

Are you looking for a place for a family get-together?

or maybe just a relaxing get-away...

Welcome; and be our guests at The Blue House.

Keywords: Comfortable, Roomy, Open with Lots of Light

Great front porch, large private backyard.

About Dave Clixby

I grew up downstate and our family vacationed in this area. The pristine beauty of the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, Lake Michigan Beaches, and the rolling hills of the open countryside captivated me from an early age. Out of all the little towns along the coastline, Frankfort is is the place that I kept coming back to. It's a little like stepping back in time; life seems more simple here. I found the house in 2001 and bought it as a long-term investment. We've put some 'elbow grease' into it and made improvements since then. It has been a lot of fun and the kids have made some happy memories here; fishing off the pier, canoeing the Betsie River, enjoying the house as a winter getaway. We hope that you will enjoy your stay here.

Dave Clixby purchased this house in 2001

Why Dave Clixby chose Frankfort

There is so much to see and do in this part of the state! It is a great location to explore from. Traverse City and Manistee are a 45 minute drive. The Sleeping Bear Sand Dune National Park begins just outside of town. Herring Lakes and 'Watervale' are to the south and the Leelanau Peninsula is to the north. Also there is something special about the Betsie River flowing into the Bay and then out to Lake Michigan.

What makes this house unique

Sunsets on the pier. exploring the dunes, out of the way beaches & incredible golf courses and Crystal Mountain Ski Resort are only a few minutes away. You can walk only 2-3 blocks to the Boat Launch, Fishing Dock, Grocery Store, Ice Cream Shop, Antique store, Downtown Shopping, Library, Tennis Courts, Bike Trails, Coffee Shop and Night Life. The Frankfort Beach is 8- blocks away.

Perfect Location

We have stayed at the "Blue House" 2 years in a row. Not only was the owner professional but he was friendly and prompt to reply. We enjoy fishing. There are very nice bike paths which you can ride on.
We love going to Point Betsie Lighthouse to walk on the beach. Sleepying Bear Dunes National Park is a nice place to visit and enjoy the natural beauty. We usually go to the Farmer's Market and recommend "Brown's" homeade pies they are delicious! Definitely a relaxing place to stay. Looking forward to going back.

Our week in Paradise

  • 5 of 5
We decided to stay in Frankfort because of its central location to the areas many attractions. The Blue House was the perfect base of operations! We stayed with adult childern and the layout of the house allowed the night owls to come & go without disrupting the household. The owner of the property was friendly, honest and responsive to all questions and texts.

Mornings on the porch with that first cup of coffee was the perfect way to start the day. Its a great vantage point to watch from as the city wakes up and comes to life. It's an easy walk to breakfast or the coffee shop if thats how you want to start your morning. Make sure you check out the local library, the view from the reading area overlooks Lake Betsie and the marina. Best of all, you can access free Internet service 24 hours a day. And don't leave the area without a meal at the Bayview Grill.

Of course Lake Michigan is the star attraction. You can spend every day at the local beach but be sure to venture North & South to other swimming areas as well. Our favorite was in the small town of Arcadia which had spectacular views of the dunes in either direction. Sleeping Bear Dunes is no longer Michigans best kept secret so plan on getting started early to beat the crowd.

Comfy and convenient!

  • 5 of 5
We had a great time staying in Frankfort at this house. It had great proximity to not only the beach and downtown, but it was very close to the grocery store. There are a couple of good restaurants in Frankfort that are worth checking out. The house is a nice size and can accommodate many and is very clean and comfortable. It's nice to have a bathroom upstairs AND downstairs. The living room is spacious and we even found some video movie gems that we truly enjoyed watching when the weather was uncooperative. The kitchen is bright and looks out over the backyard. I recommend this property!

LOOKING FORWARD TO STAYING HERE AGAIN

  • 5 of 5
We really liked this property. The street was very peaceful with beautiful homes on it. It was clean. The owner was very kind and eager to answer any questions we had. We loved the bike trails. We liked the ability to salmon fish from the breakwall. There is a little restaurant in Elberta called "The Lighthouse" we would recommend. Good Country Cooking. Also we really liked the Farmers Market with fresh produce and delicious baked goods. We would recommend this to a friend.
