Our house is ideal for a family or for couples traveling together. It sleeps six people with no one having to sleep on a hide a bed. It has three bedrooms: One is the master suite with a king size bed, TV and separate bath; one bedroom has a queen size bed and the other bedroom has two twin beds. The queen and twin rooms share a full bath. All bedrooms are air conditioned and have ceiling fans.
The house has the bedrooms upstairs and the living area downstairs. The downstairs has a large kitchen with all appliances provided. The dining and living room area seats six and has a flat screen TV with DVD player and a music center. It is furnished with Hawaiian style furnishings and art work. There is a large lanai area outside which has chaise lounges, an outdoor eating area, a BBQ and an outdoor shower. The lanai is screened with tropical foliage and is very private. It overlooks a large lawn area where children can play.
Our house is located about 150 feet from the Dolphin pool and the small children's play area. It is about 250 feet to the ocean beach area where you can enjoy the beautiful Maui sunsets over the island of Lanai.
Puamana is a beautiful, serene, gated community that reflects the style of old Hawaii. It has 28 acres of grounds that are landscaped with lawns and tropical foliage. All buildings are low rise with nothing over two stories. There is about a half mile of coast line that has a sandy beach area most of the year. There are three swimming pools, a tennis court and mango trees for picking fresh mangos. There is a historic club house that was originally the residence of the owner of the sugar mill. This wonderfully maintained club house has sitting areas, a patio, ocean tables, a library and a reception area. There is an ocean side gazebo and the ocean pool which is actually built out into the ocean and where you can view whales in the winter months. There is good surfing at Puamana during most of the year and it is enjoyable to watch the surfers if you don't surf.
Puamana is located about one mile from downtown Lahaina. Lahaina is the historic capital of Hawaii and a former whaling area. It abounds with historic interest and is a great area for walking. The town has numerous world class restaurants, interesting shops, a port and ample recreational opportunities. Whale watch trips and interisland ferries depart directly from the port at Lahaina.
We have many repeat renters who consider our house to be their vacation residence. You will not find anything comparable to Puamana on Maui. It is a unique and delightful place to visit.

Our family has owned our house since 1979 and we have continuously upgraded it. We consider it our vacation get away and we think the Maui is the best place to visit in the Hawaiian Islands. Maui No Ka Oi.
This was our second stay at Puamana and we enjoyed even more than the first time. A nice quiet community with excellent grounds. Its location is great with fantastic dining, shopping, and beaches nearby. Would not hesitate to stay here again.
We were traveling as a family of 5 and this was the first time we were staying outside of Wailea-Kihei. We really liked being close to Lahaina and enjoyed walking around there at night. Puamana 40-2 was exceptionally clean and comfortable. No bugs or mice (though we were there in winter), the highway noise was remote and not really heard from 2 of 3 bedrooms (though we are city people, so traffic noise wouldn't affect us anyway. Enjoyed the "Quiet Pool" -- yes, even with 3 kids. Was surprised at how many families with kids there were based on other reviews. Puamana had a much younger feel than anticipated. Long and short, was very pleased. Clean, spacious and a good location.
We stayed a week with three people-very spacious has all you need. cleanliness is at my minimum acceptable, but I'm pretty picky-hopefully maid isn't paid a lot as deep clean is not done. Another problem was little ants, but I think that is what you get on the island. owners had ant killer that seemed to keep the population down. this is an older unit, no central ac as advertised, but we acclimated pretty quickly. street noise may be a problem for some, but most places in this area are close to the highway. lots of dishes-which leaves little room for any storage of food and with the ants, you want to watch what you put on the counter. the hot water is solar, we had plenty for 3 of us, not sure how it would work for a larger group, there is a switch somewhere for electric hot water. best thing is the lanai with the beautiful tropical view of plants and lizards. pools were great. washer and dryer were nice to have. owners make everything very easy, we called the manager to get codes as clubhouse is not manned on the weekends. all went well and it has nice sized bedrooms with lots of closet and drawer space.
We stayed a Rich and Wanda's home at Puamana for a week and it was fabulous. It was equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The kitchen was stocked with ample pots, pans and appliances. There was even a collection of spices which was nice because we cooked a lot of meals at home. When we did go out on the town Lahaina was only a 10 minute walk down the road. Puamana itself is awesome. A nice quiet community with friendly neighbours. We especially enjoyed the ocean side pool with the cool breeze off the water and the humpback whale show that occurred every evening around sunset (incredible!). Our only criticism would be that the unit is a bit dated and things like shower heads should be replaced. But that's pretty minor in the grand scheme of things. Overall we couldn't have felt more at home here and we can't wait to return!!
Great place...excellent location...walking distance to great food, beaches, shopping. Great facilities on site and the Puamana community is very warm and friendly.
We had such a wonderful week here with our family! The house feels like home, it was perfectly equipped with everything we needed, and in such a great location. The kids loved staying in a room with two twin beds and we all appreciated the spaciousness and comfort of the house. The Puamana community has a safe friendly feel, and our kids (age 6 and 9) could play soccer on the lawn or go to the playground by themselves. One of the three pools is very close to the house and we enjoyed going there daily. The beach had great sand and a gentle slope so that the kids could play in the water. We appreciated the ease of going into Lahaina and there are some great snorkel beaches a short drive up the highway. Our only hesitation upon arrival was the proximity to the road but inside the house or on the lanai it did not bother us at all. This house exceeded our expectations and we can't wait to go back.
