Mangrove Bay, Island Home Enjoy the Beach This Summer

We stayed over the 4th of July weekend this year and Memorial day last year. Mangrove Bay is perfect for us. The owners have taken great care to make our stays awesome. Don Pedro Island is really a little slice of paradise. You do not get the big crowds on the beach. Very relaxing walking along the beach looking for shells and sharks teeth.
The house has everything you need. You just need to show up with your groceries. The kitchen is stocked with the utensils needed. We are not coffee drinkers but there is nice coffee setup.
I fished daily from the dock and sometimes caught my dinner. I have caught both redfish and trout from the dock. Last year we brought our kayaks and launched them from the dock. It is short paddle down to Don Pedro Island State Park where they have kayak racks while you explore a little more of the island.
We bring our lab with us and he settles right in. Plenty of places to walk him.
To sum it up... We have a great time staying here and this will not be the last time we stay here. Looking forward to the next time.

We wanted you to know this was a perfect home for our group and we thoroughly enjoyed being here for the week. We loved the quiet secluded area with its peaceful, relaxing atmosphere and natural environment. We spent a great deal of time at the beach in search of seashells, and were rewarded with a variety of specimens that we hadn't collected before. Of course, the sand dollars were the most sought after. My granddaughters loved the dock. We had the opportunity to watch two starfish feeding in the shallow water by the dock! Christine and Kelley were able to get some good pictures of the dolphins feeding and putting on a show right near shore on the beach. We made time for reading of the rainy night we had. Thank you for the flowers and strawberries. That was a nice personal just which we appreciated and enjoyed. As a first-time island visitor, I was charmed and delighted by the whole experience. The short ferry ride over to the island really emphasized the "get away from it all" aspect of the island. The house is located directly on Kettle Harbor, with a private dock where I could sit and sunbathe and watch the dolphins and sea birds frolic.
It is on "stilts" like other construction on the island, with a wonderful deck right outside the door. The extra height provides an added sense of privacy, although the placement of the homes and the wonderful landscaping and mangroves already insure that peaceful feeling.
This is an awesome place to spend some "away" time alone or with good friends or family. I have bad knees which limit my walking, so I highly recommend renting a golf cart for your island exploration and to get you to the perfect beach spot each evening for the amazing sunsets over the Gulf. My visit was a "reunion" with two college friends from 30+ years ago, and we had a great time. We enjoyed the respite from cable TV, (now I see there are satellite receivers) taking advantage of the large DVD selection. (Don't forget to bring popcorn!) There were also many board games to choose from, but mostly we just enjoyed the place and our visit/catching up on the years. The kitchen was well equipped for our needs. My two friends handled the cooking, and I was the dishwasher.
One night we took the golf cart to the island's lone restaurant, for cocktails and a yummy fish dinner (macadamia crusted tilapia) There was live music to enjoy, and we had a great moonlit ride back to the house. It was a bit chilly for my taste, but my more daring friend used the outdoor shower under the stars that evening.
This is a perfect spot for a couple (or anyone) to spend time together and "recharge" their connection. I hope to return again soon.
