Island of Elba:
The Island of Elba is a small, sunny, incredibly green island set like a small emerald in the blue Mediterranean Sea. It offers many types of beaches, some soft and sandy, others pebbly, plus blue-green bays and in some places steep rocks falling into the sea. Elba is not only famous for its beautiful beaches but also for its history (Napoleon spent a while here in exile and you can visit his residences), culture, and of course its vast collection of minerals. But do not let us forget the beauty of nature here - a paradise for those of you who like walking in fresh, healthy air and studying our wild flowers and fauna.
How to get to Elba:
The nearest international airport to Elba is Pisa Airport. There are many airline companies with flights to Pisa, including some very reasonable flights with Easyjet, Thomsonfly etc. Pisa is only ca. 1 1/4 hours by car from Piombino, where the ferries for Elba leave from. You can of course come by train to Piombino. There is also a small airport at Marina di Campo on the Island of Elba. In summer there are regular flights from and to many European airports. Once on the island you do need transport and can always hire a car or motor scooter. We can of course help you with arranging for car hire etc. - just tell us what your wishes are.
