Photos and Description of the Suttons Bay vacation house rental

Charming 3 bedroom/2 bath home on Suttons Bay with deck and private sandy beach with 232 feet of frontage. Very secluded, sleeps 8. Completely furnished, including grill, patio furniture, washer and dryer, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, dishwasher, towels and linens. A dock, canoe, kayak, and an offshore swim raft are available for your enjoyment. Also has Wi-Fi internet access at no extra charge. No smoking or pets please.

The three bedrooms are all of good size; two have queen beds, and the third bedroom has two XL twin beds in it. All new bedding sets for 2012, new queen beds for 2013. Two full bath rooms with towels are included for your convenience, as well as a full size washer and dryer. All major appliances are new for 2013. An open kitchen and dining/living room area with large windows overlooking the sparkles on the water will leave you breathless!

A great waterfront home in a great location! For more photos, please check out our HomeAway dot com listing, #291696.

Take a short stroll north along the beach to the Raftshol Vineyard's Wine Tasting Room, mention Chris sent you, and the first bottle is on me! While you are there, sample their many flavorful award winning vintages.

Need to stay plugged-in while on vacation? Use our free Wi-Fi internet access.

Have a boat? Tie up to our secure mooring, and use our dock and canoe for access. Of course, the canoe is also available for guests without a boat! We also provide a kayak and an offshore swim raft.

Very secluded and private location - the north side of the property is adjacent to wooded undeveloped farm property. The house is about 150 heavily wooded yards east of M-22 - creating a pleasant and welcome buffer from the road (which is not visible from the house). The property is on the water and has direct access to the waterfront - no roads or other barriers to cross. The beach is 17 stair steps below the house/deck. As you stroll the beach, watch for the bald eagle nests in the treetops along the shoreline.

Beach conditions: The beach features a newly installed 65' x 20' sand area that provides plenty of room to relax and enjoy the waterfront. In other areas along the 232 feet of frontage, the sandiness/rockiness of the beach varies from year to year, depending on the water level, winter ice and storms, etc. It is typically a mixture of smooth pebbles and sand. The beach also has a nice fire pit with a large sitting log for your summer bonfire parties!

Located next to a vineyard, and just 2.5 miles north of Suttons Bay, this charming home has so much to offer and couldn't have a better location or view. Aside from the 28 vineyards in Leelanau County, this home is only a few miles from the Leelanau Sands Casino, and close to local farm markets, shopping, dining, art galleries and all of the many other attractions of the picturesque Leelanau peninsula.

The area hosts many activities; including the Cherry Festival and other local festivals, arts and crafts shows, concerts in the park, casinos, wineries, the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes (a must), performances at the Interlochen Arts Academy and the Opera House; you're certain to stay as busy or as relaxed as you want to be.

Enjoy charter fishinig boats, catamaran sunset cruises, parasailing (for those who are brave), jet-ski rentals, hot-air balloon rides, our local markets, cherry picking (and other fruits depending upon the season), and hiking trails.

Looking to golf? Perfect area for that! Fantastic golf courses surround Traverse City. Want to go fishing? Look no further. Shopping? How about a large mall, an outlet mall, and amazing local shops to find that special treasure. The dining is also fabulous, and we have amazing local chefs that will prepare scrumptious meals that you`ll want to tell your friends and family about, not to mention the many restaurants with gorgeous waterfront views.

Cancellation Policy: If Renter wishes to cancel his/her reservation, reservation deposits, rents and taxes are non-refundable unless the vacancy can be filled at the same rate. Partial refunds will be made if the vacancy can be filled at a lower rate, to the extent that the total rent collected exceeds the original rate. In addition, all cancellations are subject to a $100 rebooking fee. If you must cancel your reservation, we will do our best to rebook.

Why Chris Lange chose Suttons Bay

The property was part of the Raftshol family cherry orchard when my grandparents and great-grandparents were alive. The cherry orchard has become Raftshol Vineyards, owned and operated by my Uncle Warren.

Property as described

Decided to take a last minute weekend trip(4 night getaway). Property was described as secluded with private beach and no other people around, and it was exactly that. While the shore itself is rocky, they have a sandy area to relax in and have night-time fires. We bought firewood without realizing that there was plenty of firewood on the back side of the house. The breezes from the water into the huge picture windows were fantastic. The home is in great shape. iPod stereo dock to play your music, HD antenna on the TV for 6-8 channels of HD TV (Fox, NBC, etc). Plenty of towels. Beds were very comfy. Huge kitchen with all of the plates, glasses, cook-wear that you could want. Location to Leland was 15 minutes, to Sleep Bear Dunes was 20-25 minutes. Chris, was extremely friendly and very prompt with his phone calls, e-mails and deposit refund. We were very happy and hope to take another trip to this property soon. Thank you Chris.

Baylake Cottage

This was our second amazing stay at Baylake Cottage. Chris is very hospitable and wants to be sure everyone has an enjoyable stay in his well appointed cottage. We always arrive to a very clean place and appreciated the flowers and treats upon arrival. This is a great location giving you the wanted seclusion while being close to all the shopping, dining and wineries offered in Suttons Bay, Leland, Glen Arbor and all along M22! We also enjoyed seeing the Port Oneida historic farms and sunsets from atop the Sleeping Bear Dunes. We loved sipping wine or coffee on the deck and watching the light hit the pristine bay waters and beach while taking in the wildlife. We have seen Gray Fox’s, Cedar Wax Wings, American Redstarts and Indigo Buntings right there on the cottage property, and near the dock watched a Common Merganser swim by followed by 19 juveniles. Many evening dinners and late snacks were enjoyed on the deck with the lake breezes and summer skies. A great place to make family memories ... we can’t wait to go back next summer!

Suttons Bay Splendor with a breathtaking view!

5 of 5
Submitted: June 5, 2012 Stayed: May 2012
My family and I stayed at Bay Lake for the recent Memorial Holiday weekend, and we were very, very happy with this place. The most amazing view right from the living room and as you stepped out onto the deck it was even better. We absolutely loved how secluded it is, the amenities of the Wi-fi and having 2 full baths, plus a washer and dryer were wonderful. We planned on taking a drive to the wineries but enjoyed the location so much we ended up not going anywhere.

We loved rock picking here and found HUGE petoskey stones on the beach. We loved watching the geese and ducks, saw the tall ship sailing the bay and just enjoyed the peace and solitude. The waves lapped gently and was a pleasant sound to fall asleep to.

I would highly recommend this place - the other places in the area were much more expensive and did not have as many amenities. It is very roomy with everything you need and Chris was very pleasant to work with. I would absolutely rent this place again and plan on coming back next year!

What a view!

I could tell the owner made a number of improvements since my last visit. (The current photos are an accurate representation of the quality of the rooms and the incredible views.) The place was spotless and fresh, with new bedding and a wonderful sandy beach. I will definitely go back again. The view of Suttons Bay is gorgeous and private, and you can enjoy it from the bay window in the living room, or the wood deck off the back of the house - while grilling your steaks. The kids have a swim platform to jump off and a firepit with split wood ready to burn. If you want a quiet getaway, this is a great value for the family.
My only advice to future renters is that it's hard to find the entrance, but then, maybe that's part of the charm. You have to find the private drive. If you reach the Raftshol Winery, you went just a tiny bit too far north.
Don't forget to pack your bathing suit, a good book, and leave all your cares behind. I can't wait to go back.
