Overview

York Harbor House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

House for rent by the month, week, or weekend on one of the York Harbor's most scenic streets, located between Eastern Point in The Harbor and Long Sands Beach. Lovely ocean views from this light-filled house and elevated yard, situated on a large corner lot.

The house is designed with a very open floor plan, ocean-facing living room/dining room, 3 bedrooms (comfortably sleeping 8), 2 baths, a large great room, separate laundry room, and windows galore. This enclave is quiet and family-oriented, favored by those who enjoy coastal walks and a central location... less than a mile either south to York Harbor Beach or north to Long Sands Beach.

One can easily walk to the York Harbor Inn, with it's Ship's Cellar Pub, the Stage Neck Inn, and Lobster Cove. York is a delightful place for a vacation, with proximity to many beaches, lighthouses, golf courses, famous seafood restaurants, Kittery shopping outlets, Ogunquit, Mount Agamenticus, and Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We enjoyed or stay in your home and are sad our week is over! We had lovely time! We couldn't decide what loved the most. Between the endless amount of resturants, the adorable shops and surrounding towns, and variety of beaches, we were never bored and wished we had more time!. Thanks

We'll be back

  • 5 of 5

After spending several summer vacations in York Beach, we were pleasantly surprised to spend a week in the Harbor. The house was a perfect size to accommodate our extended family, including our dogs (they loved the big yard). The location between Long Sands and The Harbor beaches allowed great access and it was really great to retreat back to the peace and quiet of the neighborhood where the ocean waves and the bell buoy are the only sounds you could hear. The kids loved taking the nearby Cliff Walk to the Harbor Beach. The reflection of the full moon on the water was nothing short of spectacular. The owner made the rental process extremely simple. We enjoyed our years at the beach, but now that we have found the Eastern Point neighborhood of the Harbor, this is where we will return.

Needs many repairs.

  • 2 of 5

My husband and I stayed for a month at this house because we were looking for a house to buy in Maine.

The positive part of this house is that it is in a great location and a beautiful neighborhood across the street from the ocean in York Maine. The negative part is that the house is in need of numerous repairs inside and out. There were ripped screens, windows that had no screen and didn't lock on the first floor, 2 of the 3 floor to ceiling windows in the living room had broken seals causing them to be totally fogged up, rugs upstairs that were old and wrinkled causing a tripping hazard, few lights so we had to move a floor lamp around the living/dining area to see because it was so dark in the evening, there was missing drywall and you could see exposed pipes, everything was old inside especially in the kitchen, a Thermadore stove that was made in the 50's, cabinet doors that kept popping open and not a full size older refrigerator. The inside and outside of the house needed painting and some wood repair badly. In general the house is an older house inside and out that needs repairs in a great location.

We made the owner aware of our concerns and he assured us that the repairs were being made to get the house ready for this summer rental season. He seemed to be a nice man so we will take him at his word.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review! We are very sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your stay in our York house, especially since this is our first negative feedback in 5 years and 52 renters. Our many returning renters tell us they love our delightfully well-appointed house with plenty of room for families to relax and convenient location along the spectacular coast of southern Maine. We wish you had communicated dissatisfaction during your stay instead of in a review months later, since we would have been more than happy to bring in our handyman and attend to your concerns. The only feedback we heard from you during your stay was an issue with the blender, which we promptly replaced. As is often the case with popular houses like ours, we were booked every week for the whole summer and had a handyman scheduled to do our annual maintenance right after your September visit; after a summer full of beach-loving families, carpets and windows need maintenance following the busy season and much love from our many returning renters! In terms of the security deposit, we apologize for the delay but hope you will understand the circumstances, as we weren't informed your cat would be staying and therefore had to do additional unexpected cleaning. If you do consider visiting York Harbor again, please let us know and we'd be happy to tell you about our recent upgrades since your stay, including high-tech washing machine, new toilets, and garage refrigerator.
