A Week on the Hood Canal

Our family loved spending a week in this home along the Hood Canal on the Olympic Peninsula during the summer of 2012. My parents moved to Port Ludlow a few years ago and bought a small home to retire in. Our family of 5 coming to visit just doesn't work in their home, so we decided to rent a place and really get to experience summer out on the Washington coast this year.
We get exactly what we were looking for in this home. It has every comfort you could need. Linen, towels, a welcome breakfast, wine. You name it! The views of the canal are spectacular from everywhere on the property. The gardens are so fabulous that I found myself just wandering among them with coffee in the morning. The back deck is perfect for catching peeks of Mt. Ranier or sunrises over the Cascades. Which you can even do from the hot tub built into the deck.
Our kids mostly enjoy exploring the beach. Although the stairs are steep going down and coming up, it is well worth the trip. For those not as adventurous, there is a beach access just a short walk down the road. We collected all sorts of sea life along the shores, took turns exploring in the kayaks and even got to pet a baby seal who was snacking on the buoy and came closer to check us out.
We cooked every night in this home, hosting my parents for dinners most of the time. We picked up fresh seafood every night and had every pot or utensil needed to prepare our dish.
I can not say enough about the wonderful experience and memories this vacation home gave our family. We will definitely stay here again the next trip out.

Owner's Response: We're so glad that you enjoyed your stay! We think this is truly a special place and are pleased that you enjoyed all of the many features and incredible views. Our goal is to help make your vacation on the Olympic Peninsula as memorable as possible. New this year are bicycles for guest use, in addition to the kayaks we provide. And... please take a look at the photos of the NEW STAIRS to the beach that we just added. They are much easier to navigate, although you can still enjoy the peaceful, tree-lined walk down to the beach, too. We hope you'll visit us again.
