UPSCALE, MODERN-RUSTIC CABIN ONE MILE FROM YELLOWSTONE!

Cooke City Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1.5+ Baths, (Sleeps 5))

The first floor of this new, custom-built cabin is a very open floor plan with a large kitchen, a living area, and a breakfast nook. The breakfast nook protrudes from the main body of the cabin, and from this cozy room you can sit and enjoy great views of the Absaroka Range (see photo) while enjoying your coffee in the morning. The living space has a leather sofa-bed couch and two recliners, and in the corner is a warm gas fireplace which heats the cabin quickly. The kitchen is a full kitchen with all stainless appliances, black walnut countertops, and a bar with three diner chairs that swivel for the kids!

The upper floor has two bedrooms, with a queen bed in each, and each bedroom has stunning views. A full bath is upstairs also (with shower and bathtub). When you reach the top of the stairs there is a reading nook with a large window. This nook is designed to be a seating area in addition to an extra space for sleeping, and holds a double bed. This is the premiere spot to gaze at the mountains.

The cabin was built with the environment in mind; it is very well insulated (foam insulation exceeding county requirements), has a Rinnai 'hot water on demand' unit, which heats water only as needed, and offers endless hot water at the same time. The interior has dual-flush toilets saving on water, and it is painted with no-VOC paint and we used low-VOC finishes. All of our exterior siding was purchased from a local mill. We also clean our cabins with products that are not harmful to the environment, and wash our linens with eco-friendly laundry soap.

We are right in the town of Silver Gate, and you can walk out the door and hike to two different waterfalls. And whatever you do, don't pass on a meal or two from the 'Log Cabin Cafe' just across the street. The food there is fresh, local, healthy, and very well-prepared.

We also have a smaller cabin adjacent to this one; listing #237646.

Jeff and Karen Hogan live in Jackson, Wyoming. Jeff makes wildlife films and have chosen Silver Gate as a home-base when filming in Yellowstone. Karen a dancer teacher in Jackson. They love sharing their love of wildlife, good food, and the outdoors with their son Finn.

Karen Hogan or Jeff Hogan purchased this cabin in 2010

Just out the back door is a wonderful one-mile hike to a small waterfall. Across the road is charming log cabin restaurant, the 'Log Cabin Cafe,' where you can enjoy trout dinners and wonderful home-cooked breakfasts. We will often look out the window to find a bison grazing on the property, or find bear tracks in the morning, or enjoy a visit from a little red fox we call 'red.' But best of all.... it's less than a mile from the Serengeti of the West... Yellowstone!

Nice cabin

  • 4 of 5
This home is very, very nice inside and very comfortable. Pretty views from the windows and the kitchen well stocked and modern. The only con for us was we like to spend the majority of our time outside. There is absolutely no where to sit outside except on the wet front steps, and no grill which was a disappointment. You couldn't sit in the yard even due to chest high grass. Bring your own chairs and plan to cook in or eat out every night, and you will be very happy! Awesome location, walk to the cafe restaurant and general store.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments and we are seriously considering them as suggestions on how to improve visitor's experience at our cabin. I'm sorry you did not have an area for outdoor seating during your stay, or the ability to grill outdoors. Having handbuilt our cabin, we care deeply about the quality of our improvements, and we are in the planning stages is a new deck for Spring 2014. The deck will take advantage of our incredible view to Ampitheater mountain. We also plan to add a picnic table in the rear to offer a quiet spot under the big pine tree where our guests can spot the mountain goats and big horn sheep on Mineral Peak.
Extreme fire hazards caution us against having a grill outdoors. Perhaps once Jeff and I have built the deck, we can offer a safe spot for a grill.

Very quaint and so very close to Yellowstone park.

  • 5 of 5
I have stayed here many times and it is truly a diamond in the rough. There is plenty of lodging in the Cooke City area but none offer the comfort and homeyness of this well appointed cabin. As far as I am concerned this really is the best spot to lodge when visiting the Yellowstone area.

PERFECT!

  • 5 of 5
Absolutely perfect!! My family and I immediately felt at home the moment we stepped in! Downstairs the living room and kitchen are super comfortable and have everthing you need. From the living room window we could see mountain goats with a spotting scope. The breakfast nook is an absolutely perfect for family meals - great views and a great comfy spot. The kitchen has everything we needed for cooking and the large windows were great! We saw a bull buffalo our first morning there and then continued to see him most days. One thing that isn't listed is that there is a washer and dryer - very helpful to use.
The bedrooms are all great too! The one at the top of the stairs is so dreamy to look out the window at the mountains and stars! What a perfect place.

Then of course Silver Gate and Cooke City are wonderful little towns to wander around in too. And being super close to the NE park entrance made it so handy to go into the park early in the morning and stay late into the evening.

Lovely Vacation Spot

  • 5 of 5
We had a wonderful vacation stay in this lovely mountain cabin. It was well equipped and very comfortable, and the owners were very nice to deal with. There were four adults and two pre-teens in our group and we all loved the cabin. The Lamar Valley was very near and the cabin was in a very convenient location for us. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay with you. I would highly recommend it!

Fabulous stay!

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at the cabin for seven nights. This was our fourth trip to Yellowstone And the cabin had everything we needed. The kitchen was fully stocked, easy for making meals, just shop before you get to Silver Gate. The location is fabulous just a short drive and you are in the park. The cabin is nicely decorated and enough space for everyone. We hope to be back soon and would stay here again in a heart beat. Karen was helpful and always easy to get in touch with. Thanks for a great place to stay!

Top notch!

  • 5 of 5
I've spent several nights at this cabin and truthfully I couldn't ask for more. It has a very comfortable cozy feel not found in cabins I've been to in the past. Also being located a stones throw from the Yellowstone north east gate, accessing the park is beyond convenient. This cabin is truly a wonderful place to call home when your in this beautiful part of the world..
