Pacific Rim National Park, the Park Interpretive Center, and Wickaninnish Beach are an 8 minute drive from the Pacific Drift Inn. Wickanninish Beach, which is the south end of the 10 mile Long Beach, is great for surfing, boogie boarding, windsurfing, biking, hiking, shelling, nature viewing and exploring tidal pools. Bear, eagle, kingfisher and sea lions are commonly sighted and in summer it is possible to see dolphin, killer whale, humpback whale, grey whale and many locally nesting bird species including cormorant, auk, and oystercatchers.
Ucluelet, the Ucluelet Aquarium (the first catch and release/hands on learning experience of its kind), the lighthouse and Wild Pacific Trail are located 5 minutes south of Pacific Drift Inn. Tofino, the Botanical Gardens and access to Meares Island and Hotsprings Cove are 20 minutes north of the Pacific Drift Inn.
Whale watching/nature tours, sightseeing by air and guided fishing trips are available out of both Ucluelet and Tofino harbours through several local companies. Bike rentals, surfing lessons and surf gear rentals are available in Ucluelet and Tofino and several businesses located along the highway between the communities.
Local festivals include the Whale Festival in March which celebrates the return of the migrating grey whales; Clayoquot Days in May; Ukee Days in August; carving on the edge; and the food festival.
