About Terry Hinze

My entire family are native Houstonians and lifelong visitors to Galveston island. We had tried for years to find the right spot for us in Galveston. We discovered and fell in love with Pointe west in 2007, but the home prices were too steep. Then in late 2009 Pointe West prices came back to Earth. We found Kathy's Kottage in March 2010.

We actually were meeting our Realtor to look at a foreclosure across the street from Kathy's Kottage. At the last minute we decided to take a look at this house. The minute we walked upstairs to the master suite and saw the view, we simultaneously said, 'We'll take it!' Best decision we ever made.

What makes this house unique

The views from Kathy's Kottage are to die far. In the mornings when I get up to make coffee, I have to bring my wife coffee in bed and open the blinds for her. She just wants to drink her coffee and take it all in before ever getting up.

we were there for 3 nights. It is clean and nicely decorated without too much stuff. Everything worked well. it's a perfect distance from the beach, an easy walk to get there but not too much sand in your face. it really had a nice view and a nice deck. We couldn't have asked for better. It would be nice to be in a place with a pool though, we sort of missed that.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

The beach house was wonderful but the beach was another story. It was awful,covered with massive amounts of seaweed,we couldn't even get to the water. Texas needs to take more pride in their beaches and clean them up. I wish someone had given us some kind of warning about the condition of the beach. The property was lovely and we enjoyed it. I am not sure I would return because of the beach.

I would definitely recommend this house. My husband, mother-in-law, twin 3 yr. old daughters and I spent a week in September at Kathy's Kottage and had the best time. The house was even better than expected. Very clean and lots of room. The ocean views are awesome from the balconies. I enjoyed coffee every morning looking out at the ocean. The house is within walking distance to the beach which was very nice. The beach club was great. We are looking forward to coming back soon. Thank you Terry for sharing your wonderful beach house.

This home was very clean, spacious, and not far from the beach and with so may amenities we didn't want to leave. My board and I had an excellent time and want to come back for our retreat next year.

Great Beach Home-away-from-home

This is a sweet house, every bit as nice as the photos. Very clean, well maintained, had everything we needed. Porches are breezy and shaded for most of the day - good views of gulf from porch off living area, and you can see the bayside, too from the top deck off master suite. Short walk to the beach. Beach & gulf water were clean and uncrowded.

The Pointe West Beach Club pools are great too... clean, cool water makes a nice alternative to the surf.

Do stock up with kitchen & bath supplies and food as you are a 30 minute drive from downtown Galveston. Renting a golf cart was well worth the money - we could get to everything in Pointe West on the cart without starting or cooling down the car, and it was fun to drive.

Want a special dinner out? Gaido's in Galveston was top notch.

It was a perfect end-of-summer getaway.

I definitely do recommend stopping in town and loading up on necessities. Of course Harrison's Seven Seas Grocery Store is only 8 miles away (10 minutes), but the prices are a little higher. They pretty much have anything you leave behind.
