Honua Kai is absolutely everything a condo resort should be. All of the elements that make your Hawaiian vacation perfect...beautiful blue ocean, soft sand, swaying palm trees and fragrant ocean breezes. When you add the 3 amazing resort pools with waterfalls, slides, shallow playing and sunbathing areas...Perfection.
Wait till you see Duke's restaurant! All seating faces the ocean and it's unbelievable how gorgeous it is...especially in the evening surrounded by glowing tiki torches.
A perfect start to my Honua Kai day is an early morning cafe' latte' in the Aina Gourmet Market, along with a fresh croissant and a comfy spot in the open air lobby while enjoying the fabulous oceanfront view. It just doesn't get any better...
Of course, returning to your tropical condo is what sets this resort apart. You already know about all the wonderful aspects of this condo...the luxurious linens, stainless steel appliances, super comfortable king sized beds, flat screen TVs, al fresco dining on your lanai...no more cramped hotel rooms for you!
My property manager is available to help make your stay worry free.
Paradise awaits you in Honua Kai #934!!!
My husband and I live in Arkansas, but have been enjoying the Hawaiian islands since 1992. Our dream would be to spend winters on Maui someday...but that will have to wait! We chose Honua Kai as the place we would most like to spend our vacation time. In the past we had rented condos or homes that always fell short of our expectations. So, when Honua Kai was announced we were so excited to have the amenities of a first class resort and room for our grandkids! We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
The Owner purchased this condo in 2009
This was our first VRBO rental and Melanie/Tanya made it an extremely smooth booking experience, considering it was also a last minute booking within ten days of arrival. We got an information sheet by email prior to our arrival and we touched base with the property manager the day before we were to arrive. The property manager met us in the lobby even though it was 11pm when we got to Honua Kai. She showed us how everything works in the spacious unit and where the garbarge room was, etc. This is a fairly private corner unit with gorgeous Maui mountain views which was perfect for seeing the rainbow...we saw double rainbow a couple times! We are a family of 5 with 3 younger kids aged six and under. There were beach toys for the kids, Tommy Bahama beach chairs, beach towels, coolers, an umbrella stroller, and pretty much everything else you need. There is plenty of hand soap, but bring your own bath soap and shampoo. We weren't sure what to expect as this was our first ever vacation rental. As for the grounds at Honua Kai, the pools were great for our kids and it was never overly crowded. Secured underground parking was prepaid directly at front desk when we arrived. Overall, it was a great stay and we would consider staying here again the future!
Fantastic location. The Honua Kai is a great vacation spot for families with the 3 pools, proximity to beaches and shopping centers. Unit was clean and well appointed. We were warmly greeted on arrival despite arriving at 1130pm at night. Would love to stay there again in the future.
We have recently returned from a 1 week stay the the Honua Kai. This was our first time using VRBO and the owners & this property did not disappoint. Both the resort and the room were exactly as pictured. The unit itself is located at the back corner on the 9th floor and was always very quiet - even though there were several rooms down the hall with lots of young children, we couldn't hear anything in the morning or evenings - and had a lovely view of the mountains where you can see the sunrise.
Melanie was very professional to deal with - very prompt in responding to emails. The unit was outfitted with the little extras you don't always remember (hand soap, paper towels) - not to mention the extra pillows on the beds, lots of towels in the bathrooms, and the beach extras. The room was very clean and spacious - we were 2 couples staying here and both rooms had lots of space, comfy beds, big closets and roomy bathrooms. The wifi worked great - no issues with connection or slowness; the entire unit was very clean and well maintained. Even though you are renting thru an owner, the bell-hops will bring all your bags (and unbagged/boxed Costco groceries) up to your room.
The resort itself was gorgeous - the pools lovely, the beach just steps away, the open air courtyard and lobby, Duke's restaurant and even a coffee shop/deli on site. The fitness center/gym was adequate if you do not require extensive free weights - good selection of cardio equipment. Loved the pool side service provided through Duke's - made for many relaxing pool days :) We could not get over how clean the grounds always were as well as the main lobby, and the hotel staff were friendly.
The location was perfect for us - great shopping at both Whaler's Village and Lahania's Front Street. Many good restaurants close by as well - recommend the Kool Kat Cafe, Lahania Pizza Company, Fleetwood's on Front Street - just to name a few. Sightseeing attractions were close by as well - lots to see all within 30 minutes of the resort.
Our week went by way too fast and we were sad when our vacation came to an end - we all wanted to stay longer at this fabulous resort. Would definitely return - only next time, our stay would be longer :)
If you have the chance, you should stay here!!
We were blown away by the beauty of the Honua Kai resort and pools when we arrived. The condo was ready early for our arrival (thank you!), and surpassed our expectations. The beds were extremely comfortable, and the bedrooms and bathrooms were very roomy. There were plenty of beach and pool toys for our 3 year old, and my teenagers loved the fitness center and slide at the pool. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to prepare meals. We also used the grills by the pool once to make hamburgers--very convenient. We enjoyed excellent snorkeling at the beach right in front of the resort. Duke's was very nice, but a bit pricey (as were many of the restaurants in Maui). I recommend the Times grocery store that is right next to the resort--more local than the one in Lahaina. We loved the shops in Lahaina and the Warren & Annabelle's show. We also had a fabulous snorkeling trip on Hula Girl. We would go back to this condo in a heartbeat.
We are a family of five and stayed at this condo for 7 nights and had a wonderful experience. The property is immaculate and very well maintained. The listing description is very accurate. Never had any porblem throughout our stay. There is times supermarket just minutes away and we did most of our groceries from Costco on our way from the airport. Kids had really good time at the pool. Overall I am very satisfied with my choice and will definitely recommend it other friends.
We stayed at the Honua Kai in (2012) and decided to head back again this year (2013) as we loved it so much. For our return visit, we wanted a larger unit (4 adults, 1 child) and this one worked out perfectly.Matt & Melanie were wonderful to work with - quick to respond and very informative. The unit was exactly as described and being a corner unit, it was full of sunlight and views of the mountains.
Thank you so much for making our trip a lovely one! Hope to be back in 2015 :)
