Overview

Tahoe City Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 1.5 Baths (Sleeps 6)

This North Lake Tahoe lakeview and pet friendly cabin is located in the Talmont neighborhood in Tahoe City, along the Tahoe Rim Trail. This adorable cabin has recent updates with new hardwood flooring, a stone gas fireplace, with a built-in flat screen TV, recessed lighting, and a Hot Springs Spa with lake views surrounded by the mountains, complete with a lounger seat with messaging jets from your back down to your toes. Excellent therapy post a day at the slopes!

Near the cabin are wonderful cross country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, mountain biking, and dog friendly trails along the rim, as well as a beautiful meadow in summer and winter (Paige Meadows). You can walk/hike, snowshoe, or drive to the trail head.

Down the hill from the cabin is the Tahoe Park Beach Homeowner's Association with BBQ grills, picnic tables, volleyball nets, and access to launch canoes and kayaks.

In the spring and summer, the area has a beautifully manicured lawn with brilliant flora. Approximately 25 yards south of the homeowner's beach is Sunnyside Lodge where you can walk, swim, or boat to have amazing lakefront dining and /or cocktails at the lakefront bar. Sunnyside is also a lively spot in the winter for après skiing, with a cozy winter lodge atmosphere.

Approximately 2 miles from the cabin is the Fanny Bridge over the Truckee River, the only outlet from Lake Tahoe. This is also the entrance to Tahoe City, with quaint boutiques, homegrown coffee shops, historic landmarks, galleries, the Cobblestone Cinema, and the Commons Beach Amphitheater, which is just along Lake Tahoe's gorgeous shoreline. For the best cup of coffee and pastry Tahoe has to offer, stop by Tahoe House Bakery just before you get down to the Fanny Bridge.

A modern grocery and supply store is also just beyond the Fanny Bridge. A bike trail, a bike rental shop, a raft launch, a river rafting company, a ski shop, and several riverfront restaurants are also available adjacent to the Fanny Bridge. Locals launch and jump on their own rafts and cruise down the river until floating (or surging depending on the annual snow melt) into the River Ranch, a historic lodge on the banks of the Truckee River with beautiful river and mountain views, and just at the entrance to Alpine Meadows Resort.

Although there are many accessible ski areas, the closet ski areas to the cabin are Squaw Valley Resort (approximately 8 miles), Alpine Meadows and Homewood (approximately 5 miles in opposite directions), and Northstar (approximately 15 miles).

The North Shore is a perfect Tahoe destination, with an abundance of summer and winter activities, and endless scenic treasures! Enjoy!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hello Kate,

It was a great holiday for us. We just kept saying wow at the views from upstairs in the morning and the HT all the time. beautiful! I came home to my broken screen door. The frame on your screen door is bent in one spot so if they just replaced the screen it may have a short life. There were no coffee filters but we went to the bakery and that was some awesome coffee. The fireplace is really great! That was a great investment! If you need a handyman call me I may be able to help. I am crazy busy at work but may love the distraction.

Thank you for sharing your place!!!

Fantastic property!

  • 5 of 5
I have nothing but the best to say about Kate and her property. Nice, clean, all the basics covered (although we were missing a larger size pan or two for making eggs in the morning but no big deal), couldn't have wished for more. I think the house in reality is a bit smaller than the pictures but is a great size for a small group (4-5 people). The real attraction is the location. Up in the hills near Tahoe City and overlooking the lake - just incredible. Kate's communication was very expedient and clear too which made the whole experience very easy. A very very pleasant stay and I'd highly recommend it!

PS The driveway is a bit steep so I'd consider a 4-wheel-drive in the winter.

Great views, cabin needs TLC

  • 3 of 5
When we arrived at the cabin it was late and dark, so it wasn't until the next morning we saw the stunning views for the first time. We woke to see the sun rising over the lake from the master bedroom. It was breathtaking. Shame we only had two nights in Tahoe because there's clearly so much to see and do. In terms of the cabin, things started well. Communication from the owner was clear and helpful, and first impressions when we arrived were good (we'd just done a 12 hour drive from San Diego, so we were glad of a cosy place to crash, and it did seem really cosy at first). However, the bed in the main bedroom was really uncomfortable. It felt like it was on a downward slope, and when I sat on one end of the bed the other end came up. I also found a pile of seeds (like big sunflower seeds) under the pillow, but was so tired at the time I shrugged it off. Next morning I found an identical pile of seeds wrapped in a tea towel, and after a search of the cabin found two more piles in and on the double bed downstairs. I slept on the couch after that because I could only imagine how the seeds were getting there! The couch was really comfy, but in desperate need of a clean - everything shows up on beige upholstery and this was very grubby. There were also cobwebs hanging between most of the beams in the cabin, and I found a cheerio under the coffee table, and strangely, there were cushions shoved in the gaps between the beams and the ceiling in the downstairs bedroom. There were also three or four boxes of lumber being stored in the downstairs bedroom which took up quite a bit of space, and I'm not sure why they'd be there while guests were staying in the first place. The bathrooms were immaculately clean, which was a plus. All in all, this has the potential to be a fantastic cabin. It's in a great location, just a short drive to the town, with brilliant views and a feeling of seclusion. However, most of the issues would need to be sorted out before I'd rent there again.

Owner's Response: I am always so happy to hear when guests find the view so much better than the photos exemplify, so I truly appreciate that experience being shared. Regarding the bed sloping, it turns out the bedframe was bent in the center causing the slope, so the frame was replaced with this issue resolved. As far as the seeds, I am puzzled and concerned regarding what this is so I have to actively investigate. Regarding the sofa, this was the first comment regarding needing a clean since the prior cleaning, so I just scheduled a cleaning for this. Regarding the cobwebs, I do know they form quickly within this type if setting in the woods, but I have asked the housekeepers to be more cognizant. When I put in the hardwood floors, I had extra and did put the boxes flush under the bed to store. I was told that the bed was rearranged, so my best guess is that this caused the wood boxes to be exposed and possibly in the way. All of this feedback was quite helpful and truly appreciated so I may follow up. I hope an opportunity will allow a return with a heightened experience.

Kate and her cabin are the best!

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I just stayed here for our 5 year wedding anniversary. The cabin was very clean, and in a great location. The view from the deck was beautiful and the hot tub was a perfect addition.
Per Kate's suggestion, we hiked the Shirley Canon trail, had a cold beer at the top and took the tram back down to the bottom. Make sure you stop at Shirley lake for a refreshing, cold swim before you finish the hike to High Camp.
We also kayaked to Emerald Bay from Baldwin Beach (8 miles round trip). This is also a must as Emerald Bay is beautiful.
Thanks again Kate. The trip was great!

Relaxing, Beautiful, and Great Location

  • 4 of 5
My wife and I spent a week here and really enjoyed it. It snowed on us twice in late April. We drove around the whole lake and believe Tahoe City is the best location to stay in Lake Tahoe. This house was perfect for our week-long trip and was conveniently located to everything we wanted to see. The view from the house is nice and we felt comfortable on those days when we stayed at the house all day. Thanks for letting us stay, Kate, and thanks for being available when we had questions during our stay!

Ski Weekend

  • 5 of 5
This was a perfect little cabin for a North Tahoe ski weekend. Beautiful view of the lake, close proximity to Tahoe City and short drive to the ski resorts in the area. Hot tub was excellent after days of skiing, and the view of the sunrise over the lake was incredible. I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to vacation in the North Tahoe area for a relatively small group (house only sleeps 6 comfortably). We absolutely loved it!

I could not have picked a more perfect location for our sales-vacation. The view was beautiful and the simplicity of the place was great for our needs. I would return to this lakeview cabin.
