Photos and Description of the Edisto Island vacation house rental
3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2.5 Baths (Sleeps 8-10)

Welcome to San Russ Point on Edisto Island! As they say: location, location, location! Located on a peninsula between Sand Creek and Russell Creek, this property enjoys wonderful breezes not found inland. Better than a typical beach vacation, our guest house provides access to the unique nature and beauty of the Low Country’s rich tidal creeks and marshes, as well as easy access by car to Edisto Island’s historic landmarks, State Parks and local sites. Bring your boat to enjoy fishing, water sports, and remote beaches, utilizing our boat ramp and deep water dock. The Atlantic Ocean and Bohicket Marina are a short 20-minute boat ride away. It is 10 miles to Edisto Beach down highway 174.

Other Activities: This property is totally preserved and boarders miles of state wetlands and open water. It is 10 minutes to the Intracoastal Waterway. Great Fishing, Crabbing, Shrimping (in season). Property has its own boat ramp and dock. The property has a zip line, trampoline and swing. The dock has a ladder on it for swimming but we require life-jackets for children because there is a swift current. Because we are on the tip of Little Edisto Island, there are less bugs than other places and good breezes. We enjoy taking our boat down the intracoastal waterway to beach and bird sanctuary. This is a very beautiful and undisturbed area. We allow dogs for an extra charge but must be friendly because there is another house on the property with two very friendly Springer Spaniels. In addition, we can provide linens for an extra charge as well.

Owner Description: My brother bought this property in 1962 and we feel it is one of the most beautiful piece of property on Edisto Island because it is on a peninsula in a protected area. This give miles of undisturbed land surrounding the house. If you walk a mile up the dirt road you only see a few houses - instead you see lots of wildlife. As I write this, there are Wood Storks walking near the house and I can see miles out over the wetlands. The house is on a part of Edisto called Little Edisto Island, on the end of Russell Creek road, between Russell and Sand Creek.

Owner Description Continued: About 100 yards down the dirt road from the house that we are renting, you will find the main house where my husband and I live with our two springers and young husky. All around our 40 acre property there are protected areas - the picture to the right is me kayaking with my Springer Spaniel. We just started renting this house two years ago. So far all of our guests have been pleased and many are repeaters. We love sharing our beautiful place so much we decided to let people know about it on the Web.

Perfect weekend

This was the perfect vacation for our weekend with old friends. The Lows are lovely and their guest cottage is a very special place. We loved waking up to the view of the creek in the morning and sitting on that porch with a cup of coffee. The layout of the house was also perfect for our needs. We loved how it was very spread out but intimate at the same time. And loved the hottub! Thanks again for a great Edisto trip!

Relax and recharge - best vacationin years!

  • Submitted: Dec 28, 2011

We had two families consisting of 4 adults, 5 teenagers, and 5 dogs. We all had a comfy bed to sleep in and separation from each other to be able to read or nap while the others worked puzzles, played games or watched TV/video games. Of course those lazy-day activities didn't even happen until night-fall and the one day it rained!! We crabbed and fished on the dock, kayaked in the river, walked the property, used the trampoline and zip line, threw balls for the dogs, relaxed in the hot tub (you can fit 5 teenagers in there nicely!) picked fresh greens from the owner's garden for dinner, and walked with the dogs on the deserted beach each day. The kitchen was nicely stocked with things to cook with and eat on (and they had sharp knives - my biggest pet peeve with some places!). Everything worked in the house, the table was big enough for all of us to eat together, the sunrise from the back deck was spectacular, and the owners were VERY nice! Directions to the house are correct as stated and as given by Google Maps. The dogs on the property are friendly and got along well with our crowd. The beach is great and deserted this time of year - very few bugs on property when we arrived, but at sunset you don't want to be without good bug spray and a hat/long sleeves on the dock as the sand gnats get really thick for about 30 minutes! I loved the separation that the "pod" concept of the house provides, the washer and dryer for wet clothes (the beach and kayaking provided us with a few of these), kayak (2-seater), and the crab and fishing bait the owners provided for our use. Fishing from the dock was not fruitful this time of year for us, but we are novices! The guys enjoyed a great round of golf at one of the local golf courses - and they gave them a military discount as well! There is a driving range close-by, too. We had a good time at the local little shops, too. Kids loved driving the golf cart. Overall a wonderful location for a vacation. We had planned to go into Charleston a few of our days, but we found so much to do our location that we never made it to the city! House was clean when we got there and the purchase of the linens was well worth it when departure day arrived! We found an area where they could shoot bows and arrows at a target on the property but we never used it. I would recommend this property to anyone with children where you can let them roam the property by themselves or two familes getting together.
Owner's Response: We have certainly enjoyed watching all of the activity at the guest house from our vantage point in the big house. We are impressed with how well the kids get along and entertain themselves. So far the dogs have been a nice addition although five dogs was an exception to our policy! We would like suggestions as to other things we could add to our list of amenities although sounds as if this last reunion group found plenty to keep them busy. Thank you for the great review. The owners.

What a wonderful week spent with family at your beautiful house! We truly enjoyed the views, crabbing off the dock and our day trips to Charleston. The kids had a blast on the zip line, riding bikes to the dock and picking figs - yum! Thanks for sharing ...This place truly is amazing! We enjoyed going to the dock all week checking crab traps, which was a new experience. Everything we needed was available to us and we really appreciate that! The quiet relaxing surroundings made it perfect for enjoying our vacation with our family.

Wow, What can I say. This place is extraordinary!!! My cousin Block calls San Russ Point the treehouse and every year he is so excited and ready to go to the treehouse. This is our third year. My grandmother has Alzheimers and this has really brought her away from the distractions of home and stress. So thanks for making this trip super special for us!
