Amazing house for large group!

My (extended) family of 11 adults and 3 children stayed in this house for a long weekend, celebrating my mother's 70th birthday. Overall, it was a great experience! The house is huge, and has pretty much anything you could want--there are so many fun things to do just at the house, besides all of the wonderful coast activities. My family really enjoyed gathering in the living room/dining room area, which was large enough to accomodate our entire group. We also really enjoyed the hot tub, and the game room downstairs. The downstairs beach/surf theme and bunk room were very cute! It was very clean, and had really nice views of the ocean, even being on the other side of the highway. A couple of downsides (why 4 stars instead of 5): there is a LOT of christian decor (burning cross picture/christian themed paintings, passages from the bible, christian books, etc.) which I believe should clearly be stated in the description of the property. I personally find it inappropriate in a guest house, where you may have guests from all over--from every possible religion, or guests who are not religious at all. I believe this should be addressed in order to make ALL guests in the future feel comfortable and at home. Besides this, the only other negative thing I can remember was that the listing mentioned a portable crib, which was not at the house (and we had planned to use). And there was quite an extensive list of rules to be followed (more so than other vacation homes I've rented), which, again, does not make your guests feel completely comfortable and at home. However, the house is just so wonderful, it's totally worth it to overlook these complaints! We had a lot of fun during our stay, and I would really recommend this house for large groups!

Owner's Response: Carol,
Thank you so much for your review and for not writing off the house because of our Christian persuasion as the house is an amazing house for large family gatherings. I would like to mention that each house is individually owned and likely expresses the personality of its owner which gives each home its uniqueness. I think this very thing gives people of other persuasions a chance to experience a different mindset and come to understand and possibly enjoy the opportunity to find out where others are coming from in a non threatening setting. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay at Shiloh and would return. We love our house and the peace one senses when staying there.
The 'rules' as you say were added only as a reminder because some have forgotten respect for others and property which has been a surprise to us. Am sorry about the crib as we didn't know until later when we went to use the crib for some friends that someone accidently must have taken it home with them. We have since replaced the crib, but now you must request in advance.
Appreciate so much your candidness without malice.
Sincerely,
Mike & Deb
p.s. the burning cross picture as you say is really a picture showing the cross as a bridge to safety
