Welcome to our home at the beautiful Mauna Kea Resort. The resort has two of the most beautiful white sand beaches on the island. Wai'ula'ula is a small gated community on the 'mauka' (mountain) side of the highway. It is a very peaceful retreat for your vacation.
Our condo has possibly the best views in all of Wai'ula'ula. Our 2nd floor location in the only building on top of the hill provides privacy and quiet. We have sweeping views of the ocean, coastline and mountains from all the rooms as well as the lanai. In the evening you can watch the sun set over the ocean from the lanai and enjoy grilling on the built in BBQ. Looking south is a delightful water feature including a waterfall and the 10th tee of the Hapuna Golf Course.
There are two master suites, each with King beds and private bathrooms. The third bedroom, the Gecko room, is designed with children in mind with two twin beds (convertible to a King upon request). In addition, the room has its own flat screen TV, DVD player and a Sony Playstation system with games. The sofa in the Great Room opens to become a Queen bed if extra sleeping space is needed.

I feel compelled, because of our amazing experience, to write this review of the awesome condominium that we had the pleasure to reside in for 10 days. The Big Island has so many attractions and destinations for a traveler to enjoy, but it makes it so much more pleasant to have a great, relaxing "home base" to return to after the excursions. Not only were the living areas spacious and delightful, but the bedrooms were larger than expected. One of the many experiences my wife and I enjoyed the most were the sunsets while relaxing on the lanai. A unique quality of this specific unit are the vistas. This is a result of it's location on the highest part of the property and also the direction that it faces...due west. Of all of the units in Wai'Ula'Ula, this unit has the best views. Stunning sunsets. Actually experienced the "green flash" on one occasion. Another pleasing attribute was the quality of the construction and the "gourmet" kitchen. Since we both enjoy cooking, we delighted in the high quality of the design, finishes (granite) and appliances (Subzero, Wolf, etc.). We also utilized the outdoor kitchen on the lanai which had a Wolf grill. After all of the food that we consumed, the fitness center was a daily routine. Great cardio and weight machines. The swimming area was so quiet and peaceful that it became one of our favorite places to relax during the day. Location is great. e.g. Waimea - 15 minutes (Merriman's) Kawaihae - 5 minutes (Blue Dragon & Café Pesto) Shops at Mauna Lani - 10 minutes, etc.
In conclusion, we were so delighted we will not stay at any other location other than Wai'Ula'Ula N201 on our next visit.
There were so many things to do right on the resort from hanging at the beach to golfing and enjoying all the amenities. There were even more things to do just a short drive away. The condo itself was way more than I expected. There was plenty of room for our family of four and I could see having at least a couple more comfortably. One of the main reasons anyone comes to the islands would be to enjoy the views, and this condo offers a spectacular view from every window, but the view from the lanai was even more breathtaking. I had never fished off the Kona coast before this trip, and I have to say it is by far my favorite place for deep water fishing. First off, you are in DEEP water within a stone's throw of the shore and the Island guards you from the winds on most days making the waves very light as compared to some of the other fishing I have done from the other Islands. This makes the fishing more comfortable which is nice, but if the fish are not biting who cares. Well, all I have to say to that is Blue Marlin. This was my first Blue. What a great memory. I cannot wait to make it back in the fall for an upland bird hunt. I experienced that a few years ago just a short drive from this resort on the Parker Ranch. Thanks for all the great memories and for a great place to call home while we were there. This was a beautiful place. Thank you so much for sharing it with our family.
Great stay. Condo was exceptionally clean. Great view from all sides especially the ocean. All rooms were large and comfortable. Very quiet, peaceful and private location. First class accommodations. Much better than a hotel. Golfed with someone who stayed in a hotel. He paid more for a 400 square foot room than I did for 2,400 square foot condo with a much better view. Owner of Condo was helpful and knowledgeable of the area. Looks betters than pictures. Highly recommend. Won't stay anywhere else if this Condo is available!!!
This was our second time staying and we had an even better time this trip. The condo appeared to be in better shape than before which surprised our family as our last stay was 2-years ago, certainly some updates or at least kept meticulous. Perfect for large families looking for three big rooms. We have six in family and it's incredibly comfortable, more roomy than home. Highly recommend as did a couple years ago. Access to amenities center (pool/gym) and access to Mauna Kea/Hapuna are a key, those help make this location perfect.
In March through early April of this year we stayed at this property for 28 days. It was our third return to this lovely, accessible, comfortable condo. During previous times we had children with us but this time we invited two couples to join us for a period of time. The layout of the condo proved to be perfect for when we had children but also a terrific accommodation for six adults during our most recent stay . All the condo is very clean and well maintained. The ladies in our party appreciated the layout of the kitchen and were delighted with how well stocked it is. My husband was very impressed with the ease of operation of the grill on the lanai.
We attended an open house in Wai Ula Ula during our stay and came away pleased with the choice we had made with this property. Once again the location, location, location of this condo proved to be perfect. We were within a few minutes of a wide variety of excellent restaurants from the Four Seasons to charming Bamboo at Havi. Days we went exploring we enjoyed several farmers markets with gracious knowledgeable local people who were helpful answering our questions regarding the fruits and vegetables that were new to us. We enjoyed water sports and highly recommended the guided land tour down into Waipio Valley. Our guide was charming, knowledgeable and well acquainted with the activities in this difficult to reach corner of the island. This trip was one of the special highlights of our stay.
We highly recommend this property to any age. The owner has thoughtfully provided a closet full of water toys for all ages and a wide variety of beaches are near to delight all ages - from very active to more passive guests. He proved most helpful in answering questions and suggesting activities for our particular interests.
Awesome condo and vacation. Myself and 3 other friends stayed at this condo in February. We were thoroughly impressed with the condo, the amenities and proximity to the beaches and resorts. After a day of playing in the sun, it was a welcoming place to return to every evening. We enjoyed relaxing on the lanai and recapping the days adventures every night. I especially loved my "spa" like bathroom and comfy bed.
