Get ready to find your inner self and enjoy the peaceful tranquility that the North GA Mountains have to offer. Just come as you are and leave your stress behind for a couple of days or a couple of weeks.
Don’t be surprised when strangers wave and say hello, this is hard to find in today’s big cities, but that same easy going and wondrous lifestyle still exist in these mountains.
Be sure to check your old baggage at the Mountain’s footstep- pollution, traffic jams, loud planes, running late, confusion, crime, and stress; the bears, beavers, deer, eagles, wild turkeys and all the other wildlife want to keep it Simple, Clean, Fresh, and Peaceful.
We invite you and your family to our home, “Eye Candy” a.k.a. 'The Overlook' at Lake Chatuge; nestled in Ramey Mountain, high above the trees with Breathtaking Million Dollar Views Year Round!!! Just a few hundred feet from the protected United States National Forest, experience the Peace and Tranquility that the North Georgia Mountains have to offer.
Our guests can best describe 'The Overlook' at Lake Chatuge:
'A marvelous view, almost beyond words. You just have to see it. This mountain getaway has it all. It is quiet and relaxing, yet not too far from food and fun. Many excellent places to eat and shop nearby.'
'The atmosphere is charming and the home has all the necessary amenities. The wrap around deck is accessible from each bedroom. Take advantage of the grill on the deck or just spend some quiet time there. You must experience the hot tub at night and the sunrise in the morning. One of the better places we've stayed in some time.'
'What more can I say than AWESOME! This vacation rental is by far the best rental property I have stayed at in the North Georgia Mountains. The view of Lake Chatuge is breath-taking!'
'The rooms are spacious and the Great Room and all bedrooms have a wonderful view of the lake. This home away from home is warm, inviting, meticulously clean and decorated with a cozy mountain flair.'
'My family of 6 was more than comfortable with all the amenities provided. We only wish we could have stayed longer as the hot tub and spectacular view were delightful and so relaxing - the highlight of our trip! We cannot wait to go back and are planning our next visit this summer.'
'Very relaxing 3 days! I still can't get over the views. I could sit in that hot tub forever enjoying that scenery.'
'The split living plan was perfect for our peace of mind - kept the kids quietly separate. Place was spotless - and to answer an early question from you - I think all the kitchen provisions were perfect - nothing else I could think to add.'
'I liked the central location to all the surrounding attractions. The variety of quality restaurants up there is very good - I can't remember the name, but when you exit the community onto the main lakeside road, there is a great seafood place about 200 yards to the left on the lakefront, by the marina.'
'Good prices - GREAT Food! Can't wait to come back up this summer to do some boating!'
'Great place overall! Good luck with your new rental venture - I'm sure you won't have much problem keeping it filled up'
Our first Holiday Season that we spent in the mountains. Beautiful weather and scenery year round, the hot tub is a lot of fun even in the Summer, we love it in the Fall/Winter during the cool nights.
Doug purchased this chalet in 2007
Our Family visited the area for the first time in 2004. It was love at first site, the people were so friendly and the landscape was so breathtaking, we knew right then this would be our final destination, where we would love to spend our vacations for years to come, and create many positive memories for our Family. I can't wait until the we can move up to the mountains and make our vacation home our permanent home.
There is something about waking up every morning and admiring the breathtaking landscape before you. The fresh air and the serenity of what nature has to offer. We love the wrap around deck that has great views from every spot. Our hot tub is so relaxing and also has million-dollar views day or night. Nights on the deck with the lights off is a lot of fun lot at the stars on a clear night. Sometimes we have to pinch ourselves just to make sure we are not dreaming!
Our group of 6 adults thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Overlook. It had everything from board games, movies, to an awesome hot tub with an incredible view. It was exceptionally clean when we arrived, and the owners were very helpful by providing binders with things to do and places to eat. The decor made it feel like a real mountain cabin, and the fireplace helped to cement that cozy mountain-home feel. We went on several hikes in the area, and our favorite was High Shoals Falls. We would definitely stay here again. I can't recommend this place enough. It was fabulous.
This vacation rental is all and more than you can believe! We had our entire family, from 3 years to late 50's and everyone absolutely loved the place. The views were breathtaking and the breeze from the lake was amazing, considering we were not down on the lake. I especially loved that everything was on one level and very clean. Doug was great with helpful ideas on things to do and places to go. Be sure and go to the Towne Beach; you will be amazed at finding a white sand beach in Northern Georgia. We are already talking about when we can go back. Thank you so very much for letting us share your home!
We have stayed in many mountain locations and this has to be the number one cabin for the view. It has a wrap around front porch and plenty of glass, so you get a great view of the lake and surrounding area. The hot tub had to be the biggest and best we have ever been in, also. Get in it day or night for a relaxing view of the lake, city of Hiawassee, or the stars! The gas fireplace was easy to start and use and kept the place warm and cozy. The kitchen had everything we needed and there is a gas grill on the deck for outdoor cooking. The bedrooms and bathrooms were fine, although the third bedroom is a little small (we only had 4 people so did not use it). Checklists and notes are plentiful throughout the cabin so you should have no problems finding your way around or getting things to operate. But if you do, the owners are very nice and just a phone call away! We used one of our cold afternoons to go to the movie theatre which is conveniently located just at the bottom of the mountain. We loved the area and can't wait to go back when it is warmer and take advantage of the lake and other activities!
loved the location . loved everything about it. wow what a view. everything was perfect for our 29th Ann.
I take my Mom who is 86, my Aunt who is 89 and there best friend who is 84 to the mountains each year to view the leaves. I searched the internet and found this cabin that was too good to believe. Easy access, only 1 step to get in, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, both with showers and it was absolutely gorgeous! All the glass doors on the front, you could see the sun go down and the sun come up.....in the mornings the clouds settled over Lake Chatuge was breathtaking. The gas fireplace, just flip the switch and instant beautiful fire.....We saw the turkey's the deer and the chipmunks, but no bears! All the homes in the neighborhood were beautiful but you felt like you were all alone on the top of the mountain.......what a wonderful serene setting it was. I will never forget this trip, it was truly the best one yet for all of us, thank you Doug and Becky for opening your home to families for vacations and I recommend it very highly to everyone of all ages! It is very hard to find a cabin in the mountains for those who can't go up and down stairs. I wonder if each year is the last trip for us, but as long as they want to go I will take them and we will definitely rent this house again. PERFECT>>>>>>
This was our 2nd time of vacationing here. Great place! Peaceful. Beautiful views. Comfortable furnishings. Accommodating kitchen. One level-yeah! - Great for folks with walking disabilities, as the only steps to climb is the 2 up onto the front porch from the very convenient, flat parking area out front. Split plan - 2 bedrooms/1 bath on one end of the house, master/spa-like bath on the opposite end. Huge TV. Wi-Fi works great. Pretty good cell phone coverage (we have Verizon). -And that back deck..what's not to love? The most gorgeous view of the mountains and lake that you could ever ask for..Huge hot tub..nice, big gas grill.. patio table and plenty of seating for everyone...not to mention the almost-every-afternoon visitors..the turkeys and the deer :) Doug is a great help-easy to reach and prompt to respond. We will never need to look for another Hiawassee vacation home as long as Doug and Becky continue to, so graciously, share thieis! Already booking for May 2014.
Cinema Theater - Located just a few minutes from the cabin at the base of the mountain just 1.5 miles from the cabin's front door Don't worry - you can't see or hear it, it's at the base of the mountain Mother Nature is all you will hear, we're about 500' from the United States National Forest
Indoor fun - Arcade, rock climbing, laser tag, roller skating, go-cart racing, and 6 theaters with up to date movies.
