This 5,600 square foot home is known as the original Isle Of Palms beach house- it was the first house ever built on Isle of Palms in 1898! Originally built by Nicholas Sottile, this unique home has obviously been renovated as the beautiful photos depict.

The pool level, first floor boasts casual and entertaining amenities including a big screen TV, a pool table, a wet bar and a ping pong table! On this pool level, your group will also enjoy a full kitchen, dining room table for six, a bar area accommodating five barstools, a large family room, two bedrooms, and a bathroom. One bedroom has a queen bed and the other has two queen beds.

The ocean view upstairs living area is gorgeous and beautifully decorated. The huge master bedroom overlooks the pool with a private bathroom and porch access. The bathroom has two sink vanities, a garden tub and a stand-up shower. The other two bedrooms in the guest wing share a bathroom. One bedroom has a queen bed and the other has two twins. The sixth bedroom has two bunk beds, double over double and single over single. This room has a full bathroom across the hall with a shower/tub combination. The formal kitchen and elegant dining space flow openly into the large sitting area and a sunroom. There is an additional breakfast table off the kitchen as well. Relax in the rocking chairs on the front porch and feel the cool breeze from the ocean.

The pool area is spectacular with a tropical Cabana Bar for great cook outs. The landscaping is beautiful and very well maintained. This is one of the few, if not the only house on the island, with a 300' plus private landscaped drive way. Also, the beach access is directly out our front gate across the street, allowing our guests to enjoy one of the most beautiful beaches in the world in less than 3 minutes!

VERY DISAPPOINTED

We have been vacationing in Isle of Palms for over a decade now. We were really looking forward to staying in this home based on its location and history. We also paid a premium price for it and did NOT get the quality expected from the price. Where to start...there were so many things with this property that was disappointing. First off the property was not clean and well kept. There were multiple beer cans and cigarette butts scattered outside front and back of the house as well as a couple of beer cans inside under beds that were not disposed of. Multiple carpet stains in bedrooms and on rugs in dining room, breakfast area, and family room area. One bedroom, 1/2 the closet door was broken and set off inside the closet. The downstairs family room couch covers were discolored and stained. The Master Bedroom duvet cover on the bed was stained. The hot water knob in the Master Shower fell off and broke when I took my first shower (maintenance person had to come out and temporarily fix, find a replacement and come back out the next day and put the new knob on). The pool was a hazy blue/green color and you could not see to the bottom (it took several visits from the pool guy and 2 days before we saw the bottom of the pool AND it was a nice chlorine blue). Apparently the tenants before us had cut the pump off to the pool. Ants were prominent around the lounging area by the pool (again, we had to call to get someone to come over to spray). Overall the patio furniture is seriously weathered and needs some TLC. One plastic chair on the patio was broken. Large cracks around the pool area and patio area. The "Tiki Bar" area had some spider webs and needed a good cleaning. There were large dead branches and a rolled up rotting rug on the main porch on the front of the house. The screened porch area where the dilapidated ping pong table is setup was covered with spider webs. The toilet on the lower level was clogged. It took the maintenance person and a licensed plumber to resolve that issue. Dirty dishes and silverware in drawers and cabinets. Several power outlets in the house did not work. The recessed lighting in the kitchen downstairs would at random go out (overheating?) The AC in part of the house would kick off. The exterior of the home needs some TLC. Overall customer service from the rental company was great but we spent part of our vacation troubleshooting problems with the house in order to enjoy our time there and utilize the amenities of the home.

VERY UNIQUE AND SOUTHERN!

We loved this house! It is so unique and the style is very southern. The house is much larger than it appears in pictures. It would be great for 3 groups (2 bedrooms each) as the bedrooms are somewhat separated in pairs with their own bathroom (2 down, master & bunk room, two twin & queen room). The long drive back is beautiful and again very unique. The lush pool area feels like a private tropical oasis, even though there are homes pretty close on either side. It feels very private. We looked at other homes on the island and didn't see any with that great private pool area. The location is also perfect - very very short distance to beach and short walk to shops, restaurants & ice cream. Parking is all metered and very limited so it was great to walk into the little area. The house does not come with sheet or towels, but the towel package through the rental agency is very reasonable and they were nice and soft. The comforters were enough for warmth, we brought blankets but didn't need them. The pillows were nice too.
Now for the downside - if you are one of those people that find a spec of dirt and take a pix to put on trip advisor this house is not for you. It is very very old and appears to have had numerous remodels and additions. It is not perfect. the downstairs kitchen is in need of new cabinetry and a new kitchen table. The arbor needs a good paint job, some of the light switches don't seem to work anything and the shower was a bit hard to maintain a constant temp. Despite the imperfections we loved the house and couldn't find any place that has character and charm like this house, so we are already planning to book for next year. We brought my parents and they really loved it. My dad loved the history of the house.

BEACH VACATION AT 807

We had a great vacation at this house on Isle of Palms. The location of this house was perfect. It is far enough away from the action that it was very quiet, and a very short walk to the beach. We loved the front porch that faces the ocean. The house has a well-equipped modern kitchen upstairs that is very conducive to cooking and sharing meals. We spent a lot of time around the "kitchen" table. The house could use some deep cleaning, paint and updated furniture, but for location, it can't be beat!

SPACIOUS HOME

This is not a typical beach house. It has an eclectic feel - some elements of an upscale family home with some unusual personal touches and some degrading / neglected areas that detract from the overall experience. We loved the spaciousness - plenty of space for everyone to find a spot to read and relax. The upstairs kitchen was a central spot for everyone to gather and was central to several tables and open seating areas. Because there is no TV upstairs, we conversed more than usual which was a welcome feature to our family gathering. The bedrooms and beds are kids-sized with the exception of the master which was crazy big. The downstairs bedroom was a problem for us - the bed was small and soft, low ceiling near the doorway caused a bunch of bruises for my 6'4" husband. Some of the run-down features were closet doors off their hinges, stained/ripped carpeting, torn-up screens in ping-pong room, missing/broken light bulbs, stuck drawers in downstairs kitchen, weathered outdoor furniture and decking around pool, windows that needed replacing, and it generally could have used a solid cleaning although it was surface-clean. Windows were dirty and although it was swept, there was a lot of dirt behind furniture, in corners, behind window panels - if you are nit-picky about that kind of thing. We also had to call to get the pool cleaned - it was really dirty when we got there on Sunday (very heavy rains) and still hadn't been cleaned by Wednesday. However, it was cleaned within 2 hours of us calling - should have done so earlier! I was surprised by the size of the pool - I think I was expecting much bigger from the pics, but I guess that is all about perspective! Someone came and took out our trash cans for us which was a pleasant surprise. Fresh flowers were waiting for us on the kitchen table. The owner was pleasant and easy to work with and very responsive. The house sits almost right across from the beach access path across the street. It is also walking distance to town, which was very convenient. I wish the listing had shown pictures of all the rooms (specifically the bedrooms). I loved that the rental was Sunday- Sunday as most seem to be Sat-Sat which allowed us to avoid a lot of traffic. I do not recommend a trip over the bridge on Saturday!! Overall a good value.

A BIT DISAPPOOINTING

This trip was to celebrate our daughters sweet 16. We were disappointed to say the least.

Pros of this home are the great location and it's a pretty neat home. Loved having a private pool. (bring some floats as there are none there) The pool man was very prompt after the storm to clean the pool. The owner seems nice enough, hopefully these cons will be remedied.

Cons...If you have more than 10 guests plan to bring an air bed!! We had 11. And bring your own pillows unless you like really old flat ones.
The home was dirty. Sand is not a problem...its a beach house. But there was dried urine on the toilets, dirty dishes, sticky kitchen floor and counter, dishwasher didn't work at first until we discovered broken glass and mystery junk stuck in the bottom, lower level stunk of urine, broken wash machine shredded our laundry, every chair on the deck was broken so don't plan to sit and enjoy the view, closet doors were not even attached in a couple rooms(leaning against the wall), screen porch had most screen pushed out and the ping pong table was broken and lucky to be standing.

This home is also currently for sale. Hopefully its new owner will give it it's well deserved TLC.

I definitely would recommend IOP to friends as it was to me. Its such a great location, Sullivan's Island has good places to eat at. Charleston is so fantastic.

I just would not recommend this property.

We had a 50th Wedding Anniversary family gathering at this property in June. Excellent accommodations for a family of 8. Everyone had room to move around. Much to do with pool table, pool and ping pong. Beach very close with beautiful white sand. Everything was as described on the VRBO. Had only one problem with a washing machine but Jim was on it immediately and had it fixed within an hour. I would recommend this property for anyone having a family gathering. There were two teenagers with our family and there was an Oceanopoly game at the residence. This kept a few of us busy for many evenings along with the cards and many books and music available.
