Photos and Description of the Grand Cayman vacation condo rental
1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, sleeps 4

The Sea lodges of Cayman Kai are set on a beautiful sandy beach. This condo is only a few feet from the beach and ocean. The beach is protected by a living reef just 150 yards offshore for wonderful snorkeling.

There is a beautiful view of the Caribbean water from the front porch. The waters are always changing colors and the breeze is always there. It is a wonderful place to relax and just watch the ocean.

A ten minute walk down the beach brings you to Rum Point and to a beach bar and grill along with water sports activities at Red Sail Sports including scuba diving, fishing, snorkeling, glass bottom boat rides and the ever popular trips to Sting Ray City.

Grocery shopping is five minutes away and there are four places to eat within a 10 minute drive from the sea lodge.

About The Owner

I have owned this place since 1974. I have enjoyed it with family and friends. It has been recently re-built and is all new for renters to enjoy.

The Owner purchased this condo in 1974
Why The Owner chose Grand Cayman

The sea lodge was purchased because of the beautiful view of the ocean and the beach, plus the friendly people on the island. One of the unique features of the Sea Lodge is when you look down the beach you see very few people and can enjoy your privacy.

Wonderful little cottage...very clean, well equiped, very calm and secluded. The property of other lodges was very neat and quiet. The beach is like all yours...nobody there, very clean, calm and of course beautiful. Cannot say enough good things about this place. Also, the owner is tremendously helpful and will respond to any question almost immediately. Great Great Experience!!!

Surprise Anniversary Trip for My WIfe!

Submitted: November 16, 2012 Stayed: November 2012
Dave, thanks so much for sharing your amazing place with my wife and I. It was the perfect place for her-lots of sun, not lots of people and extensive relaxation! For any of you beach goers out there, you can not get any closer to the water than this place. Believe the photos, you are only steps from one of the best beaches on the planet. The softest sand I have ever set foot on and some of the clearest water ever. I actually had my glasses fall off of my head when I was in about to my shoulders, and I could see the sunglasses lying on the ocean floor. Anyway, the locations is great, but remember, to get this peacefulness, it is about a 40 minute drive from the airport and most of the island's action. This was nice for us because we love the solitude, but we did go into town a couple times, and it is worth checking out Georgetown and Seven Mile Beach. Trust me, if you plan on leaving this place at all, rent a car. I teetered on the idea and am SO glad I did, I dont know how we would have gotten around. There is a small grocery store a few miles down the road and they have the basics. We were on vacation, so thats all we needed, b/c we ate out alot-which can get pricey, but very worth it-the food was amazing. If you need a larger grocery store, Fosters is by the airport. Rum Point is up the road and you can spend the whole day there-snorkeling, swimming, laying in a hammock and/or drinking their famous mudslides! The jerk chicked wrap is a must have too! Dave's place is exactly as you see. It is a small, 1 bedroom, but it is all you need, trust me. Feel free to ask Dave for my email/info if you want to ask anymore questions. Book this place! Its amazing and bought me MANY brownie points for suprising my wife on our 5 yr anniversary!.

Cayman Peace and Quiet

Had a great time at this lodge right on the sea, we were literally 50 ft from water! It was on the nice and quiet north side of the island. The beaches in general aren't as nice as Seven Mile, but they are 2nd best for the island. But, the beach at the lodge is the best around for the north side. Out of the 12 lodges in this group, only 3 were occupied most of our stay, so was very quiet and secluded. Great place for a couple to stay. You definitely want a car to get around, there isn't much close besides vacation rentals. Very safe feeling area. This lodge was the closest to the sea, with ocean views from the living room, bedroom and both front and back porch. Viewing the stars was great at night, as it is pretty dark on the back porch. Loved waking up to hearing the ocean waves on the beach. A great trip!

Wonderful vacation

This was the first time we used HomeAway and I must admit we were a bit leery- we even had a back up plan. It was a somewhat loose arrangement- no written agreement, just mail the check and then we would get the information. But we took a leap of faith, and ended up with the most wonderful vacation. Thanks, Dave!

The place is exactly as pictured. You can snorkel right off the beach (this unit is an end unit, right on the ocean). The coral reef is right off the beach, so we were snorkeling every day. There were very few people and we truly felt like we had a private beach. If you get tired of being alone, it's a 10 minute walk to Rum Point, where you can go out on Red Sail events, or just sit and drink tropical drinks from the Tiki Bar all day.

It felt more like we borrowed a friend's place than like we were renting. The charcoal for the grill is under the grill cover, which we didn't discover until we took a trip back to the grocery store to buy a bag. There is one king bed, and two twin size couches you can pull out. We had 3 adults and it was fine. Groceries are expensive, but eating out is incredibly expensive- restaurant meals for 3 adults were easily $200 (with drinks), so plan accordingly. Since we ate most meals in the Sea Lodge, it balanced out.

If you want to shop, this is not the place for you- Georgetown is a 45 minute drive away in non-rush hour traffic. You need a car, and McCurley's (call, don't e-mail), picked us up, and stopped at a grocery store and liquor store on the way out. I don't recommend buying ground meat- try other foods. Pick up as much as you can on that first trip if you don't want a long drive for groceries.

We did the Bioluminescent tour in SeaKayaks. The website said they were sold out for the month, but I sent an e-mail asking them to contact us if they had a cancellation and they had 3 spots left. It was really a wonderful experience that you can only have in 12 places on the planet.

We went on the Red Sail trip to swim with the stingrays, and asked to hold them. We used the photographer on the ship (unlimited pictures for $50), but should have taken our own- the pictures were all overexposed.

We also went into Georgetown on Saturday, only to find that many shops and attractions weren't open because the Cruise ships don't come in on Saturday.

Bottom line, this was a fabulous place to stay and a great vacation.

One of our best vacations ever!

This was one of our best vacations ever! This sea lodge sits right at the water’s edge, there is nothing that blocks your view from the master bedroom, living room or screened in porch area. You can swim/snorkel right there, the water is crystal clear and warm. Enjoy the view during the day and the starts at night on the open screened porch! You would need a car as this location is about 40 minutes from town, but it is quiet, you will have the beach all to yourself most of the time. Rum Point is a couple of minutes away by car, you can also walk there – nice to hang out there on windy days. We drove around to different beaches, swam at Seven Mile beach, but were happy to come back to our sea lodge – I think we had the best location on the island! The food stores on the island was amazing, it was like walking into our local food store here in the US. It has everything you might need, more expensive, but cheaper than eating out. We made most of our meals at the lodge, there was a charcoal grill and everything in the kitchen you might need to cook your own food – like I said eating out was expensive! This sea lodge had everything we needed, towels, kitchen towels, matches, games, movies, soap for the dishes, it was like being home, even a washer and dryer. I mention these little things because you do NOT get it everywhere and it makes a difference, believe me! The only thing I have to mention is that there are no channels on the TV. There are some movies you can watch, or take some of your own, but no local TV stations. Also, the TV was black and white and maybe we had to adjust it somewhere but could not find it – it really didn’t bother us because we played cards at night and really when you are in such an awesome place you should not waste your time by watching TV. Last important thing, it has air conditioners and although it cools off at night we needed it sometime and were wonderful to have. I want to thank the owners for sharing this little piece of paradise with us, it was one of our best vacations ever and this sea lodge was just perfect!
