Cottage, 3 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 5-6)

Simple and charming cottage situated on a knoll, surrounded by acres of tranquil farmland, with woods and stream. East and west facing porches overlook uninterrupted pastoral views. The cottage has been recently renovated, whilst retaining its original character with wood floors throughout. Downstairs includes living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom with queen size bed. Upstairs there are two delightful bedrooms under the eaves. One room has twin beds, the other a double.

This is an ideal situation where parents can relax and children are safe to explore.

About Theresa Palmer

Owners Brian & Theresa Palmer designers from the UK. We moved to the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains 10 years ago. Knoll cottage is situated across the field from our home and studio. We enjoy walking the hundred acres of pasture and woodland, and our guests are welcome to do the same. We often bike the New River Trail and are happy to let the guests have the use of four bicycles as well as canoe and kayak. We are keen gardeners and raise our own organic vegetables. Weekends are spent mainly outside enjoying the peace and beauty of the surrounding area.

Knoll Cottage is heaven on earth

My husband and I recently returned from a relaxing stay at Knoll Cottage. The views from the cottage are fantastic. As soon as you unpack your bags and settle in you know you have found a very special place. The cottage has such a welcoming feel, hearing the stream along the cottage, the baying of the cattle, and the farmhouse décor of the cottage. It is centrally located to visit the town of Floyd, Meadows of Dan, the wineries, and the New River State Park which is not to be missed. The Park offers canoes, bikes, horseback riding and wonderful hiking trails. We rode our bikes and found the trails to be very well marked, excellent footing, and many spots to stop and enjoy the beautiful views
along the river. I can't say enough about this wonderful cottage, Theresa and Brian were very gracious hosts and Knoll Cottage is truly heaven on earth.

The Studio

My husband and I were looking for a place to stay while visiting nearby Floydfest. When I contacted the owners of the cottage, I was sadly informed that it was already booked, but they offered to rent their Studio to us. We took them up on their offer, and we were so glad we did! The Studio is absolutely beautiful. We couldn't have asked for a more peaceful setting! The owner was very attentive to our needs and did his utmost to make us feel at home and comfortable. Even if we wouldn't have been attending Floydfest, we would have enjoyed our visit at the Studio... it's a great place to just get away from it all!

Idyllically Serene . . .

This place was perfect. My family stayed here last weekend and loved every second we were on the farm. I have never stayed anywhere with hosts as accommodating as the Palmers. It was amazing! From the farm fresh eggs, freshly baked bread, chocolate cake and canoe ride, our visit was perfect. My kids loved picking eggs out of the chicken coupe. It was a great get away, comfortable, beautifully set, and incredibly relaxing. We will definitely return if we find ourselves in Virginia again! Thank you for such a great stay.

The Studio

When we contacted the owners they told us Knoll's cottage was unavailable, but suggested we stay in the Studio. The Studio is a beautiful raised wood cabin with a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living area, and charming deck with table and chairs. It gives a wonderful bird nest view of the property. It had everything we needed and was a perfect alternative. We loved it!

A Wonderful Place to Visit - Highly Recommend

I just returned from an absolutely wonderful weekend here. I visited with four friends for the New Year's weekend (plus one dog). The photos just cannot do this place justice - breathtaking views of the mountains, great trails to walk or jog - just stunning. We all had a great time relaxing, watching movies, playing games, cooking big meals, and just spending quality time together. It is a great place to bring a dog, too, as there is so much room for them to run around! The homeowners, Theresa and Brian, are delightful people who made the entire experience even better. I look forward to returning soon!
