Irene has lived in Wasilla for over 40 years and enjoys sharing her unique property with visitors from around the world.
The Owner purchased this cabin in 1997
The lake cabin was originally built by Irene's late father-in-law in 1952 as a family get-away. Over the years the cabin has been a family cabin, a full time rental and now a vacation rental.
Irene lives on the property next to the lake cabin. She enjoys the amazing sunrises over the majestic Pioneer Peak, dramatic sunsets to the west end of the lake. The local moose population varies during the year but is not uncommon to have two or three moose at one time in the area, and they certainly do enjoy eating Irene's Mountain Ash and apples trees. The property is conveniently located 5-minutes from Wasilla, making it easy to get to just about anything, but still offers seclusion and privacy.
Irene's cabin by the lake was a great place for my husband and me to visit after several weeks of craziness with family and events. We were able to sleep in the comfortable queen sized bed, eat meals in the kitchenette without having to go out for every meal, and enjoy siting on the dock on sunny afternoons. The studio set up is spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was well stocked with towels and such things (had a hair dryer, but you should bring your own shampoo, etc). Even though the cabin is next to the big house it was very private. The room had blinds to block out the Alaskan sun, but was brought in plenty of light during the day. Though there were only two of us, the place can sleep three. All in all, we really enjoyed the stay and would go back again!
