This newly renovated beach house and separate cottage (optional to rent) is conveniently located in the seaside town of Carpinteria, one of California's best kept secrets. Carpinteria is home of the World's Safest Beach as well as being close enough to Santa Barbara to enjoy all it's culture and commerce but far enough away to maintain a sleepy beach town ambience. Downtown Carpinteria offers a variety of clothing boutiques, antique stores, salons, restaurants and surf shops. All these amenities line Linden Ave. within a 4-block span that is within walking distance of our beach cottage. This quaint home is located just off Linden Ave. on 8th St. and Yucca Lane right behind historic Linden House. This area offers over 25 restaurants with a diverse variety of California cuisine, all summarized in our Restaurant Guide complete with current menus and reviews. You never have to climb in your car to dine out as well as grocery shop. One of two area supermarkets is only a 2 minute walk away. Take advantage of the Thursday Farmer's Market that offers the coast's best fruits and vegetables. Also available at this afternoon market is a variety crafts, baked goods and beautiful plants and flowers. Of course, if you would rather dine in than out, our newly renovated house offers an ultra modern kitchen to prepare your meals as well as a wonderful covered patio to barbecue in and a newly landscaped backyard to lounge in. We also offer an outdoor shower with handheld sprayer to wash that sand off for those returning from the beach.
For those seeking surf and sand you are only 2 minutes away by car or 5 minutes away by foot to the beach. Ample parking is available as there are 3 public lots along the beach as well as plenty of street parking. Kayak and raft rentals are available at both Linden Ave. and Ashe Rd. locations. Public restrooms are available at those locations as well. A public pool is also available in central Carpinteria, right next to newly renovated tennis courts. For our golf enthusiasts there is a full service driving range located on the south end of Carpinteria Ave. Numerous public courses are available from Ventura all the way north of Santa Barbara. Most all courses are within a 40 min. drive of Carpinteria.
Biking enthusiast have access to the California Coastal Bike Route that runs through Carpinteria on its way to Santa Barbara on the north and Ventura on the south. Mountain bikers have access to numerous bike trails that course the hills throughout this coastal area. Hikers have a variety of trails to choose from that are up and down the coast. All these activities are outlined in our Recreational Guide available at the house. You can do as much or as little as you like in this comfortable home located conveniently to so many amenities of a great coastal beach town!

We recently purchased this beach house and renovated it and we are excited to share it with you to enjoy Carpinteria and associated areas as we have.

I've been vacationing in Carpinteria since the early 1970's. I fell in love with this town as a teenager and I have been coming back ever since. My family and I vacationed every summer here in the 1980's and we purchased our first vacation property in the mid 1990's. Since then we travel to Carpinteria from the central valley of California as often as we can. We purchased this beach house in August of 2008 and spent a year renovating it. We think it is a fantastic property strategically located in Carpinteria like few other summer rental properties. You rarely have to get in your car because of its great location.
Shopping at the local Von's Supermarket or Rite-Aid Drug Store are a short walk from our beach house's front door. Access to local shopping at clothing boutiques, antique stores, salons and surf shops are all within 3 blocks of our location. Over 15 restaurants offering a variety of California cuisine can be reached on foot within minutes.
We loved our stay in Carpenteria. The house is in such a great central location. It was really nice to be able to park the car and not use it during our stay. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and had lots of nice features. The games and bikes were very nice touch. The garden/patio area were very private and a really nice place to hang out. We would definitely return (and probably will).
This house was all we expected and more! We were so happy with our choice. The house is extremely organized and immaculate. The bedrooms all had large closets, so no need to be tripping over suitcases and there were plenty of dresser drawers to unpack your belongings. The beds were very comfortable.
The kitchen had all you needed for cooking and even all the little things that you might not expect were supplied-from aluminum foil to olive oil! The kitchen was so well stocked and set up in such an efficient way that it was a pleasure to prepare meals.
The washer and dryer sure came in handy and yes there is detergent there too!
We stayed there for a week, 6 adults and 1 toddler and found there to be plenty of room for all of us to sit around and enjoy being together.
The backyard was wonderful too! We enjoyed the cornhole game and the other outside activities. The privacy fence made it very secluded. The sunsets were spectacular too!
Location is so important and this house was within walking distance to the shops, grocery store, park and beach. Walking with a toddler, it probably took us about 10 minutes, but I am sure adults could make it there in about 5 minutes!
When you rent a house without seeing it, you are taking a risk. I can guarantee that we would not hesitate to rent this one again.
The house is decorated in a very casual comfortable, non cluttered way. It was easy to relax!

We had a wonderful experience staying in this house in Carpenteria! The house has everything you would ever need, is extremely organized and immaculate, has a great outdoor space and is in a great location. This will always be our first pick when vacationing in Carpenteria! We loved it!
We've stayed in Carpinteria many times throughout the years. This was the nicest, most well maintained home we've ever stayed in. Everything you need is available at the home. Just show up with you luggage. The location is perfect.
This home was absolutely perfect for a spring break getaway with my wife and 3 teenage sons. Absolutely immaculate. Everything in like-new condition. Really well-equipped. The fenced backyard is a fantastic bonus...plenty of space to hang-out outside at the end of a long day. Beautiful landscaping and plenty of seating.
Since we had to fly to CA, we appreciated the bikes, beach chairs, boogie boards, and other beach gear provided.

Our family has been coming to Carpinteria for years, but this was our first time staying in the Barkers' beach house. It was everything we hoped and much, much more! The home is beautifully decorated and very cheerful with lots of windows. It was immaculate and well organized. We really appreciated not having to bring our own linens. There is a great supply of beach chairs and sand toys. We found the location perfect for walking with our two small children to Tomol Park, the beach, stores, the Farmers Market on Thursday, and favorite restaurants like The Spot, The Palms, Sly's, Tony's and Jack's Bistro. When we wanted to hop in the car, more shopping and restaurants in Montecito and Santa Barbara were just a short drive away. Since we usually stay in a condo, we especially appreciated having the well landscaped back yard for the kids to play in. The owners were extremely helpful and easy to work with. The beds are comfortable and it's quiet at night. Needless to say, after a week filled with sunshine and fun, we didn't want to leave. We couldn't have been more pleased with this adorable house and have already booked our next visit.
