This century old former fishing camp has been newly renovated with completely new kitchen and bath, while retaining its original charm. Sit in the front garden and watch the fishing boats come and go or relax on the private back deck with a cool drink at sunset. In cooler weather stretch out before the glow from the brick fireplace. Lots of windows invite the sunlight and cooling breeze off Sandy Bay. Halibut Point State Park, Rockport center, beaches, golf, whale watching, boating, and the train to Salem and Boston are close by. In summer enjoy the internationally known Rockport Chamber Music Festival, live theatre at the Gloucester Stage Company & North Shore Music Theatre. Fall - Spring features Cape Ann Shakespeare Troupe and concerts at Rockport Music. The perfect spot to be as quiet or busy as you desire.
Enjoyed the cottage, comfortable, clean and just right for two people. We discovered a beautiful quarry just north of the cottage, wonderful views. We went for long runs through town, so nice. Love this little getaway to your beautiful town.
My husband and I hadn't been to Rockport since we were high school sweethearts; nearly 33 years ago. We decided to go back for a visit and found the "Cottage Cove" through the HomeAway website. Although we would like to keep this "our best kept secret", we feel that Joseph and this cottage deserves a great review.
Joseph met us at the cottage after we called him from the road. He gave us the tour and explained some things in his handy white binder cottage book. He listed some tourist attractions, local points of interest along with some suggestions as to where to have dinner. We appreciated that information and enjoyed several meals outs. The seafood in this area is by far the best we've had.
This cottage is very clean and tidy. The view of the cove from the cottage front is awesome! There are plenty of places both inside the cottage and out to get lost in a book or just relax and take in the salt air and view. I did exactly that while my husband crossed the street to enjoy some salt water fishing.
Finally, the starter kit of supplies that Joseph and Sue provide their guests was more than we could have asked for. I'm a K-cup girl but the coffee at the cottage was the best I've brewed in years! It was a pleasure to get up in the morning and make our breakfast and plan our day in this "Getaway Home".
We will be back for several more visits and we hope to meet Sue the next time.

Joseph welcomed us to their lovely harbour cottage. It is perfect in every way.
We were delighted with the amenities, cleanliness layout and location of the cottage.
We ate lobsters and clams at the restaurant at Pigeon Cove - dine in or take out.
We bought lobsters "off the boat" at Lane's Cove where there is also a small quiet beach. Towns of Gloucester and Rockport are very close where we found everything except a touchless car wash!!! Highly recommended for couples; it is close to a fairly busy road, however it is quiet and peaceful at night for sleeping with the windows open.
My husband and I stayed at Joseph and Susan's cottage in late June. We wanted a houskeeping cottage but did not want to have to bring a lot of things with us for such a stay. This cottage was well equipped with more than the basics. It was very neat and tidy. It is small but divided into rooms or areas in such a way that really helped us relax and feel at home there. Like many properties in the area, it has beautiful plants and flowers.
We had been to the North Shore before and wanted to do some activites in the area. We went sea kayaking and were fortunate enough to see Harbor Seals at Thacher Island. We traveled to Essex, had a guided tour of the museum there and ate at one of the restaurants recommended at the cottage. We could walk back and forth from the village of Rockport and attended an event at the beautiful new music center. We also walked back and forth from Halibut reservation, learned about the granite industry and enjoyed the Rocky seashore. One of our favorite bookstores is in Manchester-by-the-Sea (Manchester by the Book) and we discovered the Coolidge reservation and Long Hill near there. We went to Glouster to buy fresh fish. On this trip we chose not to go on a whale watch but we did visit a museum on the waterfront. We went to Plum Island and saw many bird species.
The cottage is located at an intersection and in a populated area. It was private but may not be the best choice for individuals who want more solitude.
Our son and his family visited one evening and enjoyed time with us. They were impressed!
Joseph and Susan left us some breakfast supplies, as promised, and returned our cleaning fee shortly after we returned home. We will definately recommend this cottage to other people.
We spent a couple of nights at the cottage last summer and it was truly romantic. Amenities were great, sunset views were spectacular and the owners could not have been more gracious and helpful
thank you Sue and Joseph. We hope to return.
My boyfriend and I stayed here for a 4 day weekend in October 2010-- we took a pleasant hike to the train station almost everyday where we were able to take a $3.00 train ride just about anywhere however, we spent the majority of our time in Salem for the ever famous Haunted Happenings. The view was spectacular, the books were hysterical, the location was convenient, and the cottage was truly cozy, and the price could not be beat by anywhere else. It was the perfect place to stay. We will absolutely return for all of our MA visits in the future. And we are certainly looking forward to visiting as frequently as possible. Thank you so much for your hospitality, Mr. Stigliano! You were an excellent host.
