Steven & Kathy searched for the perfect spot in the Lower Keys, came across a diamond in the rough. You guessed it ....TORCHVIEW, with foresight and some hard work managed to make this piece of heaven 'our Paradise'. We know its 'Paradise 'because we have been told so by ALL who stay here. We KNOW you'll feel that way too, COME CHECK IT OUT!
We live in West Michigan when were not in the Keys.
We are on the premises from Dec. to April.
Kathy Anderson purchased this house in 1993
We have bought a house on Cudjoe and built another there too ( both on canals), it was crowded, noisy and our pets had no where to run. We wanted seclusion, privacy, open water and space to breathe. The first time we saw TORCHVIEW WE knew IT was home.
The most incredible sunsets at TORCHVIEW will capture the tropical flavor of the Keys without leaving the country. Our views off the deck will give you peace and tranquility. Isn't that what we came for????
My husband and I were looking for somewhere warm to spend a winter week. Neither of us had ever been to the Keys, and being from Washington State, this was quite a distance to come. But the time and effort was well worth it. The home was a destination in and of itself, which was what we wanted. While we did spend some time seeing the sights and eating out, we were just as happy hanging out in our ”home away from home”. Having never rented a home before, I spent considerable time reading the reviews and studying the pictures of the rentals we were considering. We were extremely happy with the choice we made. The only surprise for us was that there were absolutely no surprises! The reviews were spot on, the home was immaculate and the pictures don’t do it justice. We particularly enjoyed the views from every room and the lovely breeze that blew through the entire place. We spent considerable time on the deck, enjoying the peace and quiet, along with the view. The huge, wrap around deck makes it possible to get out of the sun or breeze if need be. My husband enjoyed snorkeling around the reef and dock areas while I kicked back in the lawn chair on the beach in the shade. Awesome and wonderfully relaxing. The grounds are beautiful, as well. The home very comfortable, well stocked and well maintained. The owners, Kathy and Steve, who reside on the property, are awesome! They are completely unobtrusive, unless you need something or have questions. They suggested places to eat (Square Grouper!) and when we came home with Stone Crabs one evening and had no way to crack them, Steve had just the tool and showed us how to use it. This place books quickly for a reason! We look forward to a return visit!
This was our 7th time staying in the Keys and we have stayed at several places. This location was more off the beaten path and quiet. The home was very comfortable and the view was great. The owners were very friendly and helpful while we were there. It has been one of our favorite places and we definitely will return.
my wife and i have been vacationing in the keys for 40 years, torchview was our best vacation ever. we were primarily looking for open water views(don't like the canal places), the view is very relaxing and beautiful. the deck is 360 degrees around the house. the dock is outstanding, with hundreds of fish and lobster.(my wife is not a strong swimmer and doesn't like going into the atlantic to the reefs)so she got to do some easy snorkeling. a couple of items not mentioned by the owners-the master bedroom has an on-suite bathroom, the L shaped dock has tie poles for a boat on both sides of the dock, the laundry room has a bait freezer. we'll be back. kris nielsen clearwater beach, florida. p.s. key deer in the front yard most mornings.
This was my husband and our dogs (our 4-legged, furry kids) 3rd vacation trip to Torchview, and it was awesome as always! Torchview is in such a beautifu setting in paradise -- awesome sunsets over Niles Channel, beautifully landscaped large yard, great place on Big Torch Key as a base to walk, kayak, boat, snorkel, dive -- all the things we love to do in the Keys! The house is well equipped, comfortable, close enough to groceries in Big Pine Key and area restaurants to be convenient, but set far enough away from US 1 with such lovely grounds that you feel you are in your own private paradise for your visit ('cuz you are!). Best of all is the awesome artificial reef constructed around and under the dock. We see almost all the sea fauna we see at the reef in a smaller "nursery" setting -- it is truly awesome. We LOVE our visits to Torchview, and have already booked for our 2015 trip. Many thanks to Kathy and Steve for sharing their Paradise in the Keys! :)
Best vacation home ever! Spacious, clean, well stocked kitchen cupboards, park-like setting, and of course, the dock. Oh, the dock! How I wish I could snorkel and swim around the dock all day, every day. Nice little beach area, and very clean water with no seaweed issues, like other areas we visited.
All three (3!) dogs, and all three humans thoroughly enjoyed every second of our vacation, mostly due to this property. Out of the way private, yet close enough to Key West and Marathon, too.
We went to Bahia Honda, took the Looe Key reef snorkeling tour. Then, we went took the Dry Tortuga National Park ferry out of Key West. InnerSpace dive center was invaluable for our diving and snorkeling adventures. Sugarloaf Food Co. had the best Key Lime pie we've ever had (and we've had a lot of pie!).
Thanks for sharing your piece of Paradise with us. We will definitely be back!
My family and I had a really great week at TorchView (I wish we could have stayed longer). The house was comfortable and clean with plenty of room to stretch out. And our dog was able to run loose on the large, secluded lot.
We particularly enjoyed your pier and reef. We snorkeled and fished there every day. We saw snapper, grunts, angelfish, Spotfin butterflys, lionfish, grouper, cowfish, horseshoe crabs, and more.
Since the property is on the west side, there was no seaweed to contend with and we were able to enjoy wading without the muck and smell we've dealt with at other properties. And the sunsets were beautiful.
Thanks for an excellent vacation.
