Feels like home - but better!
I had the privilege to stay in this wonderful, cozy home for three months while working in the area. I spent most of my evenings riding the cute bike with a basket (provided) to the Causeway just minutes away to watch the absolutely breathtaking gulf sunsets. On the weekends I would ride my bike just a tad further to Honeymoon Island National Park and relax on the gorgeous beaches with the crystal clear water. A couple times I even rented a kayak from the Causeway rental place and kayaked to what felt like my own personal island - Caladesi Island which has previously been ranked the top beach in the country (including Hawaii)! The house is extremely clean, neat and organized with an abundance of towels and linens. I was worried about the kitchen going in but quickly put at ease when I realized all of the essential "tools" were available - pots, pans, strainer, dishes, blender, glasses, bowls, knives, various utensils, can opener, etc. Being that I was a 25 year old girl living alone in a house in an area I was not used to, I was a little nervous at first but after talking with the owner I felt more confident. Then after I arrived I was very warmly welcomed by the neighbors who seemed to look after me and make sure I felt comfortable in their neighborhood. If I ever forgot something from the grocery store, Walgreens was a 3 minute walk away. Also if you want to experience the small town life then Downtown Dunedin is just 2 miles away - you HAVE to try the amazing ice cream place on the corner!! That became my Friday night treat! To work off those ice cream indulgences, the well-known Pinellas Trail is just across the street from the house - I would go on long bike rides often and always felt safe (and it's well maintained). Quick 20 min drive is a town called Tarpon Springs with the BEST Greek food - I especially loved Mikonos - YUM! Also, if its rainy or you just want do some shopping/ catch a movie Westfield Countryside mall is just a 10 minute drive down the road - brand new restaurants including B.J's Restaurant and Brewhouse, Red Robin, and Grimaldi's Pizzeria. Plus, a new 12-screen movie theatre and a wonderful shopping collection - Dillard's, Express, Macy's, Chico's, Forever 21, etc. I have only been back (Maryland) for a few weeks and I often find myself thinking about the palm trees, bike rides to the beach with the gorgeous blue water and the absolutely beautiful sunsets. I stayed from April to July and I hope to stay again for vacation!
