Charming, quiet, safe. Great owner.

My wife and I spent 4 nights in Casa Orietta in June. We found this studio to be exactly as described. Sra. Orietta had stocked the fridge with a number of items, and we had everything we needed for a home base in the eternal city. Walkable from the Vatican, which was nice, as when you reach the Vatican, you reach the metro, which is much easier than navigating the ever changing Rome bus system. There is a bus stop very close to this apartment, though we found it easier to just walk to the metro. The apartment was clean, well stocked with everything we needed, plenty of hot water, the patio was adorable, comfortable, and useful. There is a tavalo caldo just a block away at the bottom of the hill for quick and easy snacks, pizza, etc. Several restaurants, gelaterias, etc within a few blocks. Owner was very pleasant, gracious, and helpful.
The only negative I can say at all is that we've been to Italy several times and are very comfortable navigating Rome, along with trains, metro, walking, etc. but the night we arrived, our plane was late, and the track number had changed for the train Orietta had suggested, so we had to find her apartment on our own, in the dark, after a very long day of travel. We made it as far as S. Pietro & took a cab from there as we couldn't find the right streets in the dark & we were tired of carrying luggage. Upon arrival at almost 10pm instead of 7-8pm as we had told her, we had no idea how to get into the gated complex where this apartment sits. Orietta's name is not on the buzzer, and we had no idea which buzzer to press. There is no indication at all. Only by the grace of god after 15 minutes of panic did we find the last visitor had not properly locked the gate, and we were able to push it open, afterwhich we found the ground floor apartment right away and knocked on her door, and she let us in. We were WAY too close to having to find backup accomodations at 10pm after a long flight from the states. Make sure to ask her which buzzer to press if you are late! Other than finding it for the first time, this was a wonderful place to stay, and we would absolutely consider staying here again next time we are in Rome. It was exactly what we were looking for.
