About The Owner

She loves to be active, dance salsa and travel the world with her daughter She is a keen photographer and you will appreciate some of her work displayed in the rental property.

The Owner purchased this house in 2004

Why The Owner chose Antigua

I bought this property in 2002 as my home. I recently moved back to the UK but didn’t want to sell the house as I visit regularly and like everyone here still love Antigua so started to rent it out as a vacation property.

What makes this house unique

The property is really close to the centre of Antigua and in walking distance to all the main sights, restaurants and night life. The house is elegantly decorated yet still extremely cozy and comfortable. The area is quiet, secure and relaxing. The house is very well equipped with all modern conveniences and you will feel at home right away. There is a housekeeper provided to do cleaning and laundry and access to English speaking assistance and travel planning services.

Guestbook comments from the owner

There are a million things we wanted to say to you, and only wish we could sit with you in the Rainbow Cafe or on the roof at Cafe Sky and share some beers and talk. The house was wonderful *(and beautiful) and your hospitality and that of Leonore were so greatly appreciated. We found ourself growing fonder of Guatamala with each passing day, and we walked probably every street and ally in town (measured 12 to 15 miles per day just walking in town!) getting to know all of Antigua. Just what we wanted on this trip!

Your commitment to wise use and conservation of resources (recycling, minimizing waste, saving electricity and water with careful use, etc.) impressed us and we are grateful to you for sharing that philosopy with the people of Antigua (and visitors).

Carlos is a treasure for your company that you need to protect! Our friends never were able to join us, so it was just us going and coming in the van, and we spoke energetically in both Spanish and English with Carlos, as he shared travel information, political information, philosophical information, talked about the NGOs in Guatamala, and on and on. He holds you in highest regard, couldn't say enough good stuff about you, and loves working for your company. He is humble and warm, and was a perfect introduction to the Guatamalan people for us.

Thanks for all you did to make our stay enjoyable, I know it's a business venture for you, but you've managed to infuse a sense of hospitality that truly was appreciated.

what a beautiful home! The view of the volcano right outside the gated entry to the home was breathtaking. There is complete, total privacy and because we have two small dogs it is pet friendly. The housekeeper will come daily if you require it, and the gardener arrives once a week. The garden is so beautifully landscaped. The bedrooms are clean and spacious, and the kitchen is well equipped. I would book it again if coming to Antigua.

Good area, bad neighbor

  • 2 of 5
The location of this home is alright. The area is safe and there is a gate but inside there is an elderly lady that owns the main house. She complained not about our car parked behind her because she was leaving but rather because 'you never know when you may need to get out'. We explained that we were unloading and would move but she was sarcastic and rude to our guests. The doggie door is not such a great idea. When we opened the door to come in at night something, some animal, maybe a black cat but who knows, came running through the doggie door. We are not sure where it went but it was not a comfortable night not knowing what was in the home with us.

The furnishings are alright but not luxurious as advertized, not by a long shot. Worst part was the neighbor. She was not just a problem one time but multiple times. Not sure as to why.

Owner's Response: Dear Guests,
We are very sad to receive our first review under 4 stars. We are so sorry that you felt that the neighbor was not friendly with you.
Your stay was about 5 months ago and during the same period we noticed that some cat came in at night, so off course as soon as we noticed we closed the doggie door to make it more comfortable for our guests and prevent the experience you had.
Again sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your review so we are able to improve our property.

Elegant refuge

  • 5 of 5
What a find! Muy comodos. Beautifully decorated. This house has everything. You can cook: microwave, toaster, blender, great fridge. You can watch subtitled movies to perfect your Spanish. You can relax in the garden, the outdoors brought inside. You can stay connected with wifi and the frijolito (phone) the house provides. Lenore came daily weekdays to clean and do laundry (we began saving our laundry thinking it frivilous for her to do it more than once a week.) Recommendations provided are plentiful: restaurants, etc. We used the transfer service for our entire stay, including weekenders to Chichi and Pana. The local manager was as close as our tablets. Pleased to see as we were leaving that the house is installing solar panels. Attention to recycling here. We were in Spanish school for three weeks and could walk to class in 20 minutes. Classes were so intense that our heads would have exploded had it not been for this refuge. Though it accommodates children, I could not see bringing toddlers to a house with so many beautiful glass vases, etc. Saw a doggie door, so maybe next time will take my perrito. Loved it so much that my husband and I are thinking of returning with another couple.

Absolutely fabulous

  • 5 of 5
Large, spacious, airy apartment with fabulous outdoor rooms to enjoy La Antigua's lovely climate. Easy to get around by 'tuk tuk" for Q20. Myriad of restaurants to choose from. Fine dining to casual and everything in between. Magnificent architecture. Locals are gentle and kind. The apartment is suitable for the disabled but La Antigua is not wheelchair friendly.

Best part of our vacation

  • 5 of 5
Antigua is a very charming place but the headline is this home. This home was just perfect for our stay and we were very impressed with how well it is maintained. The garden is a beautiful place to relax. Daily housekeeping was a plus. The home far exceeded our expectations and you can bet if we come back this way we will book it again. To Heidi and Becky, thanks for your hospitality and sharing your home with us. A+
