If you're looking for peace and quiet, try our three bedroom, two bath home out in the meadow surrounded by trees, where you can watch the birds, squirrels, and bunnies romp in the grass.
Halfway between Oak Ridge and downtown Knoxville, it is convenient for business or pleasure, close to East Tennessee attractions, like the Oak Ridge science museums, the beautiful Knoxville Zoo, and the many festivals held here to highlight this beautiful area in all seasons. We are 13 miles from UT Neyland Stadium and the Basketball Hall of Fame, and 20 miles to McGee Tyson Airport in Alcoa, which serves the Knoxville area. Thousands of people from all over the world come the second week of October to see the Museum of Appalachia Homecoming in Norris, only a 30 minute drive. The Great Smoky Mountain National Park is located 40 miles south.
The home is fully equipped with everything you need to have a comfortable stay. We have three queen beds, with a rollaway bed and port-a-crib available if needed. Those with children would enjoy the Ijams Nature Park, Star of Knoxville Riverboat trip on the Tennessee River, and the Three Rivers Rambler vintage steam train 90 minute ride through the gorgeous East Tennessee countryside. If you come for the Dogwood Arts Festival in April, be prepared to have your breath taken away by Spring blooms on the marked Dogwood trails, driving through local neighborhoods.
If you just want to rest, we have peace and quiet, a full kitchen, three TVs with cable and DVDs and tapes available--and even some books. With the long, private driveway, we have parking space for pretty much anything you drive. Join us in East Tennessee, where the people are friendly and make you feel right at home.
My husband Stephen and I have been married for 50 years, and 25 years ago we moved from Southern California to Knoxville, picking it out of the whole country for its beauty and livability. We are retired. I was an artist, and my husband was in Engineering for the City of Knoxville.
Carol Tokay purchased this house in 2000
Thank you for a delightful stay at your house. We were very comfortable and had everything that we needed.
We stayed here while we attended a convention at Thompson Boling Arena. It was only about a 15-20 minute drive, and we certainly enjoyed the beauty and serenity of the location. We didn't get to spend much time here but thoroughly enjoyed the time we did. The house is very neat and clean and well equipped. We had my elderly parents with us, and they loved it. We gave them the master bedroom, and they said the bed was wonderful. We ate breakfast there before we left and prepared supper whien we returned and had everything we needed. We also appreciated the kindness of the owners and certainly enjoyed the fruit, candy, and garden goodies they provided for us. Wonderful people to deal with. They also mailed a package to my parents who left a couple of articles at the house, and that was very much appreciated. We would definitely recommend this place, and if we ever have a need to stay in Knoxville again, we will certainly try to stay here again.
Quaint, private, VERY clean; and the hosts were great ! Fruit and chocolates when we arrived ! And the gas grill on the deck was very handy, and the new Ingles grocery store close by; everything was just right.
We came to Knoxville for a friend's wedding. We're from VA & our friends from NC also stayed at the property. Clean. Fully equipped. Private. No complaints. We would definitely stay here again.
We had a wonderful family reunion in Knoxville. Six of us stayed for a week at this home and were very pleased with the accommodations. Although it rained every day, there wasn't any moisture in the house. My wife is very allergic to mold and odors and she didn't have any problem at all. The owners have gone out of their way to make things comfortable, clean, and homey. We will stay here again if we are back in the area.
My family recently stayed at this vacation property during a college visit/family trip over Thanksgiving. The guests at the rental included my husband, myself, my 17 year-old-son and his girlfriend, and my father. The accomodations were as advertised, and we were struck by how "at home" we all felt in the place. There was a fully-equipped kitchen, including oils, spices and even some fruit to snack on. There were lots of towels, some shampoo and soap in case you forgot your own, and even laundry soap and fabric softener for the washer/dryer. The home is in a beautiful setting, where you feel like you're out in the country, yet you're within driving distance to nearby activities and attractions. We would absolutely stay here again.
We live in Texas, and our daughter was getting married in Oak Ridge. We needed a place to stay for a week to do the pre-wedding preparations, and needed more room than a hotel could offer. This place was PERFECT. From the moment we walked in, it just felt like home. Stephen and Carol go the extra mile to create a warm, comfortable home for their guests. They even went the extra mile to find something we'd left behind and send it to us. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely stay here.
