We are Silvia and Stefano

We live with our baby Andrea in on apartment of the villa , wich has owner garden and private entry .

We bought the villa Giardo 3 years after filming the whole Tuscany fascinated by this beautiful region. We are dedicated full time to renovate the villa and fix the park.We finished the work in the spring of 2009.

Here was born our small, sympathetic Andrew, who made even more magical whole.

We are glad to realize a dream and after all the frenzy (we own a restaurant) we are finally in a place where time has stood still.

'Harmony' seems a word that embodies what we think we have found here.

'Harmony' because everything is related: people, nature, animals, colors, scents.

The Owner purchased this villa in 2010

For us it was a choice experience to banish from our lives the frenzy and chaos. Beyond that Villa Giardo is a bit of history, culture, tradition to live every day with the option to be 15/30 minutes to cities such as Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Arezzo.

THIS WAS PARADISE

  • 5 of 5
Our entire adult family, consisting of three couples rented Il Giardo for a week. The pictures on the website do not do the place justice. The villa accommodated us all extremely well and our hosts were so helpful as well. Each bedroom has it's own full bathroom. Additionally there are multiple places for people to sit, congregate, read. And eat. The grounds are simply stunning and beautifully kept. The owner, Silvia, will arrange to cook dinner for guests if it is arranged ahead of time. We did this and the five course meal with wines and digestifs was simply wonderful and prepared with great care. Additionally, the villa is decorated with great care and attention to detail. I simply can't imagine a more wonderful place for a family vacation.

HEAVEN IN CHIANTI

  • 5 of 5
Villa Giardo is one of the unusual places where the reality is even more splendid than the website photos and description. The views of Tuscan hills, vineyards and olive groves from the villa's hilltop terrace are unforgettable. The accommodations are more than ample and the furnishings are very attractive and comfortable. Silvia and Stefano are wonderful hosts - attentive and helpful with excellent recommendations of local restaurants and sights, and available to address any question or problem, but very careful not to be intrusive. We had Silvia prepare a dinner for us (7 adults) that was a true feast - the best meal we had in Italy.
Like Heaven, Villa Giardo is challenging to get to the first time, Your GPS will take you only so far. It's advisable to call Silvia when you reach the La Piscina cut off from the road to Lucolena to have Stefano come and guide you in. Watch for the sign on the left as you approach Lucolena from the south. Once you know the way, it's no problem.

MAGNIFICENT IL GIARDO

  • 5 of 5
When we arrived at Il Giardo, I felt like I was in a movie. The grounds are exquisite, flowers everywhere and beautiful views wherever we turned. Then we entered the house. Our expectations were high and the building, decorations and furnishings far exceeded our expectations. This was our 4th trip to Italy. Silvia and Stefano have provided a perfect environment for a Tuscany vacation. My husband and I were celebrating our 50th anniversary with our daughters, their spouses and our two teenage granddaughters. The house was laid out so that each couple had their own private en suite room in different parts of the house. Every morning and evening we gathered together in the large dining room or on the adjoining terrace where we ate most of our meals.

After days spent touring San Gimingnano, Siena, Greve, and Arezzo we gathered at the pool for swimming in cool well water or sunbathing on one of the 8 lounges. The girls and men enjoyed the fooz ball and ping pong tables. While available no one used the archery equipment. We dined on bistecca Fiorentino at the Borgo Antico in Greve and ate pizza at the local Lucolena restaurant, where we were the only tourists. We had fabulous gelato in Castellina. Market days in Radda and in Panzano (rotisserie chicken) were very special.

My family visited a local winery for a tour which they loved . Of course we drank delicious Chianti every night, each one better than the other.

Silvia prepared a sumptuous anniversary dinner, with crostini starters, two pasta courses, wonderful prosciutto, caprese, luscious roast beef, and culminating in a spectacular fruit-tiramisu cake. Our only regret is not having more of Silvia's dinners.

We spent lovely evenings on the terrace watching terrific sunsets, drinking delicious wines, and laughing over the days spent in this exquisite place. Three generations adored Il Giardo. Silvia and Stefano were wonderfully accommodating, providing good advice about local sights, eating, and shopping. (They had been very helpful during the planning stages as well.) The drive up to the house does present a challenge, but the destination more than compensates. Recommended without reservation.

DELIGHTFUL,CHARMING AND TRULLY AMAZING EXPERIENCE AT IL GIARDO

  • 5 of 5
Il GIARDO is an ANCIENT CHARMING LUXURY VILLA located in a peaceful region of Chianti. Prepare to see something beyond imagination when you are welcomed in the house of Silvia and Stefano. Recently, my boyfriend and I had the opportunity to spend a few days at this amazing villa in the heart of Tuscany. It was a dream come true and an experience beyond expectations. We were given specific instructions on how to get there and the welcome was trully warm.

The Villa is beyond comfortable and it stays true to the authentic Tuscan style without sacrificing comfort. TRUE LUXURY combined with functionality and elegance. Make sure to take advantage, if time permits and Silvia is available, and ask for an Italian style dinner. Silvia is not only a greacefull hostess but an amazing chef as well. My Italian boyfriend was really impressed with her cooking skills, and I will have a hard time finding someone who can make such food once I return to USA.

Take your time to enjoy the pool and  grounds around the villa, Stefano does a great job keeping the landscape beautyful and they even have solar energy. Even the most avid environmentalist travelers would be pleased.

My boyfriend and I were beyond happy with the accommodations and with the amazing hospitality that our hosts Silvia and Stefano treated us during the entire stay .
We are looking forward to returning to Toscana and most deffinetly will stay at Villa GIARDO.

I recommend this place to everyone who is looking to spend some time in this amazing corner of Heaven, Tuscany.

ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL, INSIDE & OUT

Absolutely beautiful, inside & out
  • 5 of 5
We just returned from a wonderful trip to Italy, and this villa was definitely one of the main highlights. We stayed with quite a large group -- 2 families with 4 adults and 8 children (ages 5-14). Since the listing states it sleeps 9-11 we expected to be a little cramped, but in fact there was ample room for everyone. The master bedroom and the outbuilding were perfect for the two adult couples, and the additional bedrooms easily accommodated 3/3/2 children. All the rooms were beautifully restored and maintained, and there were amazing views from every room. Even though the house has a wonderfully old character, it does not lack for modern conveniences.

The villa is situated very privately, and it was great for the kids to have plenty of room to roam without worrying about disturbing anyone. We did some day trips (the villa is convenient to many great locations), but also spent some days relaxing there. The kids never got bored -- they swam in the pool, used the gym, caught tadpoles in the little pond, played with the dogs, and ran around the fields. There were various sitting and lounging areas all around the villa, all making a great place to sit and read or have a glass of wine while taking in the views.

Silvia and Stefano were very welcoming and helpful. They really went above and beyond what we expected. We had many problems finding the villa (see below!) and arrived much, much later than planned -- and our friends were even worse off because they were biking there and the roads are very steep. Stefano and his friend went off to rescue them, brought some of the children back, and Stefano helped them push their bikes up the steep, unpaved final kilometer. It was late and everyone was exhausted, and Silvia then made us a big pot of pasta so we didn't have to go out! She also left us a wonderful tiramisu in the fridge.

One warning is that the villa isn't easy to find! Make sure you have good directions, a good map, and ideally a GPS!

MAGICAL HOUSE AND VIEWS IN TUSCANY

  • 5 of 5
My husband, 10-year-old daughter and I took our two moms for an Italian vacation. After spending several fun days sightseeing in Rome, we took the train to Tuscany, ready for the relaxing portion of our trip!

Everything about Villa Giardo exceeded our expectations. Silvia is a superb hostess. She gave us a tour of the house and grounds and told us about the renovations she and her husband Stefano have made. It was fascinating to get the background story of this beautiful building.

Silvia also made recommendations for dining, grocery shopping and sightseeing, all of which was very helpful. It was nice to have the local perspective.

She also cooked a fabulous dinner for us the night of our arrival. We felt truly welcome and immediately felt at home. Silvia has a very engaging personality and is very easy to talk to, not to mention a great chef!

The house is spacious, clean, comfortable and warmly decorated. We loved all the interior stone work and beautiful chandeliers in particular. The attention and care spent on this house is evident in every room. And there were so many windows to showcase those incredible views!

The pictures only provide an inkling of how truly spectacular the house and views are. It's so stunning that it seems almost surreal. We spent many hours outside, just enjoying the view. It was very hard to tear ourselves away to go exploring around Tuscany, and we ended up doing a lot less exploring than we anticipated because we wanted more time to enjoy the villa.

There are lots of activities to choose from at the villa.....we swam every day and played ping-pong and archery. The fitness room has every piece of equipment one could possibly want.

Two things to consider: the villa does have lots of steps, so is not ideal for the very young/very old. Also, the driveway up to the villa is steep, but Silvia does a great job instructing you on proper technique.

On leaving, we only had one complaint: our time there was far too short! We would highly recommend Villa Giardo (and already have!) to those looking for an unbelievable setting from which to soak in life in Tuscany. And the longer the trip, the better!

Thank you so much, Silvia and Stefano, for sharing your beautiful home with us!
