4 sets of french doors open to the gulf, immaculate heart pine floors throughout. Hotel quality linens and down pillows on every bed. Not a detail was overlooked.
It's a very special place.....
Our 4800sf home lays out as follows:
Upstairs:
Master bedroom (captains quarters) has a king bed, private bath, french doors which open to the Gulf Porch with unimaginable gulf frontage and windows with views of the bay. Fall asleep listening the the waves lapping on the beach.
Admirals Quarters has a queen bed, french doors which open to the Gulf Porch with the same gulf frontage as the Master, windows with views of the bay.
Skippers Quarters has a queen bed, amazing views of both the gulf and the bay.
Artwork in the Admirals and Skippers Quarters was commissioned by local artists.
Crews Quarters has 2 twin beds, set in bahama style with a custom built table between. Breathtaking views of the gulf and the bay.
Living room has overstuffed down filled furniture, complimented with nautical theme decorations, mosaic glass tile fireplace, sea glass, mahogany ship wheel, oars, etc. Despite the upscale quality of the furnishings and artwork - our home has conquered the challenge of retaining the coveted 'beach house' feel. Very inviting, casual and extremely comfortable.
The dining room is comprised of a heart pine table and 8 chairs. The kitchen bar seats 4. As most meals are served family style, on the Gulf Porch, there is a brand new teak table, which seats 12 comfortably.
The kitchen has everything, pans of every dimension, crab/lobster pots, roasting pans, poultry racks, crock pots, blenders, cast iron skillets, warming trays, all hand tools and even.....a stick blender. Bosch expresso/cappucino maker accepts Tassimo pods.
On the Bay side of the house, we have a large covered porch (25'x25') Patio furniture surrounding a marble mosaic table. High end propane grill with convenient fold out stainless prep table.
The Gulf Porch is covered and screened, it is 48' x 12'. Long teak dining table, 5 rocking chairs, a teak couch w/ teak occasional tables, and ..... everyone's favorite.... the 2 person quilted hammock. This porch is everyone's favorite place to hang out.
Just off the Gulf Porch is what we call the 'Sunset Deck'. Some call it the 'Sun Bathing Porch', and my kid's call it the 'Dolphin Watching Porch'. My favorite place to watch the stars at night. For your viewing pleasure, we have a high powered telescope.
Schools of dolphin swim by at least 2 times per day - and occasionally you will find them swimming around the dock.
We achieved our goal of creating the 'feel' of the downstairs to be ''ole Florida rambling beach house'. It has 2 bedrooms/1 bath, a morning kitchen, a living room and a ping-pong table. It lays out as follows....
The Beach Room has a full size bed and eye level views of the beach.
The Bunk room (Pirates Quarters) has 1 set of bunk beds (2 twins stacked). We built the room so the little tikes in the bunk beds could fall asleep watching the stars.
The downstairs is beach level :) Designed so that beach-goers can come in and out with ease. The floors are beach proof! (no sand or water worries)
There is a morning kitchen downstairs, with a fridge/ice maker, coffee maker, toaster oven, blender, etc.
Beach-goers can walk right in from the beach grab a beverarge, make a cocktail or sandwich, go to the bathroom--- all without going upstairs.
There is yet another covered porch downstairs, with a teak table that seats at least 10, a teak porch swing and a covered sand play area - which is great for when the kids have had too much sun.
Downstairs living room has 2 sofas with cushioned wicker chairs, atop jute carpets. A side of the living room is the ping-pong area, with a full size regulation table.
What key features make our beach house stand out among the others??????
Guests may fish/crab from the 300’ private dock or tie your boat off to the anchor buoy located adjacent to the dock.
Elevation - Our 'upstairs' is just 13 stairs from the sand to our home. And our 'downstairs' is ground level. Most of the neighboring beach rentals are 25 feet in the air - that is approximately 33 stairs to climb. Going to the beach should not be an aerobic event.
Elevator - I learned this lesson when I rented my first beach house. I spent hours lugging suitcases, groceries, coolers, baggage, parents and kids up 2 flights of stairs! With an elevator, just load 'em all in the elevator and press UP!
Boardwalk to Beach - many beach houses just have a beaten path over the dunes, which can be difficult. We have a wide boardwalk directly to the sand - keeping bare feet safe all the way to the beach.
Covered Porches - Expansive covered porches on both watersides of our home make for a comfortable reprise from the sun.
If you're looking for the 'home away from home' vacation, and you want it to be simple and carefree- our home is for you.
Beach towels, hair dryers in each bathroom, household/laundry products included.
