Perfect! It's at the end of a Cul-de-Sac, on an elk Super highway, Greenbelt, friendly neighbors, and close to town, but tucked away. Quiet and lots of stars at night!
Cool, quiet, near golf course and pool, loaded kitchen, open floor plan so nobody is left out, but divided into 3 floors to give everyone space.
The home was perfect for 7 during a spring break ski vacation. The beds were comfy and the middle floor stayed comfortable the entire time. The wooden floors are beautiful! We had trouble with the heat since the temp had gotten so low several nights we were there. We had a baby with us and when we closed the door, the room would get very cold. There is not heat in each room, so the doors need to be left open during the day & night. The owner was able to find a room heater since the baby had the flu and we appreciate that she worked so fast to find one. One of the heaters down in the lowest floor had the pilot light go out and she was able to get someone to come the next day and relight it to get that heater going. The middle floor's hot water heater worked wonderful- plenty of hot water but the 3rd floor water heater did not work properly. So we all ended up taking turns on the middle floor. The cleaning crew does a poor job. There were cobwebs on all floors and the bottom floor had leaves, dirt and wrappers under my bed. The toilets were not cleaned from the previous renters. The kitchen is full of pots, pans, utensils and dishes. Very nice!! There are 4 seats for the bar and a larger table with 4 chairs. The house is spacious and with some cleaning & the upper hot water heater repair the house would be amazing. The owner was very nice and answered all of my questions- I had several. I would post more pictures of each room because we were really unsure as to what the home had inside. Yes, I would recommed to a friend/family member and hopefully we will get to stay there again. I know it is very hard to find good help especially to clean but I would look for a new group to do the cleaning- Thanks for a wonderful time!!
My Family rented this Cabin on very short notice when we decided to extend our skiing trip by a few days and ski Angel Fire. This cabin is extremely well located, about 5 minutes form Angel Fire. It's a beautiful cabin. We arrived a little early, and met their kind neighbor who was opening up the house for us. he was very nice, and explained that the electricity had not been turned on yet, so we emailed the owner. The owner is super responsive, and the Electric was back on well before we returned from skiing. The house took a little while to heat up, and the wall thermostats don't work (we didn't realize this at first) but the gas fireplace and wall heater really got things warmed quickly once we figured it out. The Kids loved romping around in the snow right off the deck, and loved the bunk beds. It was truly the best stocked kitchen we have ever stayed at, lots of condiments, beautiful ceramic dishes and cups, really everything you could need!
The one issue we had was getting hot water for showers, there is not hot water on the upper floor at all, and it seemed like the tankless heater got turned off when the electric went out. Once we reset it, we were able to get enough hot water on the kitchen level for showers, but never at the top floor.
The cable was great, and they had a copy of the book "The Giver" which I had always wanted to read so I read that and enjoyed it while we stayed there. There was no wi-fi- which normally would not be an issue for us but since our cell phones were also roaming, we were not able to make calls while at the house. Overall it was a very nice large cabin, with super comfortable beds and a very responsive and attentive owner. We would stay there for sure again.
Our family really enjoyed our stay! We wear close to several lakes and rivers for fishing and hiking. It was great to watch elk grazing in the meadow from the balcony. We defiantly got more for our family of six staying there than paying for two separate rooms at a hotel that would of been more expensive. The home was clean and very comfortable. Loved it!
The house was super clean and had everything to get us started. We went wild with the HUGE backyard, woods next door, built a fort, and got to swing on a rope swing. We saw a squirrel, chipmunk, coyote, elk, Mule deer, and a beaver down the street. The kitchen has everything. The bathroom has everything that we needed. We were able to collect a bag of pine cones and take them home. We even helped out by watering plants by the pathway. kids hauled broken limbs and stacked them, then we got a super nice note to the children from the owner. Jodi is an amazing property owner who gave us ideas on things to do, places to eat, and to avoid. It has been a long time since our family has gotten to be together and everyone enjoyed each moment so much. The fun never stopped and we ALL found things to do. Thank you for sharing your home with us!
The property is absolutely beautiful and it was very well maintained and furnished. If I had one thing to recommend would be better details regarding handicap accessibility. When I rented the cabin, this was not a concern of mine due to the fact no one in my party had any mobility issues, but since renting I unfortunately broke my foot and require crutches and a knee scooter to get around. If you have any need of a mobility device such as crutches, cane, scooter, wheel chair etc…, this property is not for you unless you only want to see the basement bedrooms and that is even a struggle. I wished I would have known it would have been such a struggle getting around the property prior to my travel, so I could have made alternative plans. It may sound like I didn’t enjoy the visit, but that is not the case at all. I would absolutely rent this property again as long as I could get around without the use of a mobility device. Only rated 4 of 5 stars, because I wished the property had better description of handicap accessibility. My families biggest highlight of the trip were the 75-100 Elk we saw at dusk one evening feeding across the back of the property.
We just spent 4 nights at the Cougar's Den. It was fabulous. It was everything that was promised and more. There was plenty of room for all of us to spread out. The kitchen is better stocked than any place I have stayed before. We especially liked walking around the area early in the morning and seeing the wildlife. We would highly recommend it. Some friends of ours rented another place and it was more epensive and not nearly so nice.
