Saltwater Snug is a lovingly maintained family beach home. We hope you will enjoy the attention to detail shown in every room. It has been our goal to create a place that is beautifully appointed without feeling too contrived--a place to truly relax and get comfortable.
We are located at the quiet 'north end' of town--an easy five minute walk to the beach. The north end is very desirable because no matter what is going on just a few blocks away in the center of town, it remains very quiet and removed from the traffic and crowds. The beach is wonderful here, too, because not only is it beautiful, but just south of the house, the river empties into the ocean creating a stream on the beach that most beachcombers are not willing to cross. That leaves us with a gorgeous beach that is never crowded!!
The main floor of the house has two gathering areas. The living room has large paned windows that look out onto the covered wraparound porch. The wooden ceiling is high and beamed with a large stone wood burning fireplace rising up to meet it. There is a built in bookcase with books, games, TV, and CD player. A huge leather sectional sets the room off beautifully. CAUTION!! Many a person with good intentions of spending the day on the beach or in town has never made it out of this room!
The kitchen/dining/family room is a great place to be, too. The kitchen is spacious and very well equipped. From waffles to banana splits to roasting a turkey, everything you need is there. There are bar stools at the counter and a table that seats 4-12. A sofa and loveseat provide a comfortable place for people to gather. A wall of windows and a glass door look out onto the large deck and private back yard. The deck has Adirondack lounge chairs, a rocking chair, patio table and chairs, and a kids picnic table. Our favorite is the freestanding stone fireplace. We enjoy sitting outside at night and letting the kids roast marshmallows. The laundry room is conveniently located off the kitchen/family room, as is the half bath and access to the garage. In the garage is a large BBQ that is easily pushed into the driveway. There are beach toys, a ping pong table, many sizes of rubber beach boots, bicycles, a double stroller, and probably a kite or two.
At the top of the stairs is a desk and chair--a convenient place to use your computer-Wi-Fi provided. All three bedrooms are upstairs, as is the den. The den has a sectional that pulls out to a double bed. When pulled out it provides a perfect place for a baby or toddler to sleep right next to the bed. There are bean bag chairs and a TV and video library.
The queen guest room has a queen bed, two night stands, two reading lamps, a trunk to put suitcases on, and a large closet with rods and shelves.
The bunk room has two sets of bunk beds, a large closet with shelves and rods, and a TV monitor for videos and games.
The guest bath is conveniently located adjacent to both guest bedrooms and the den. It has a full tub and shower and plenty of counter, drawer, and mirror space.
The master bedroom has a queen bed, very nice linens and is tastefully designed. There are two night stands, a chair and ottoman and three reading lamps. A large antique wardrobe closet has ample room for baggage, hanging clothes and drawer space. The master bath has a deep Jacuzzi tub, separate shower, and ample drawer and cabinet space.
Our home has been a favorite with friends and family for years. While it is equipped to handle a group, it is also great for a romantic getaway for two. It is warm and inviting whether it's two or ten. This is a place that has been and continues to be loved by many.
